Corruption among Ismailies!
One of my best Ismaili friend send me a mail he wrote to "Batuni Murid" a yahoo group to put on board to let the group members know about the corruption within Ismaili community and specially in one of their centre in Ontario. His e-mail was not published because of the groups policy to pu...

Re: Bohras on TV
My Concern is that as a bohra follower, Dai's Raza is necessary to show on National TV with the identification of Character's as Bohra by showing ladies in Rida and Guys in Topi!!! This was shown in Canada, USA and Austrailia on Sony. It was not mentioned that they are Bohris but you can tell by dre...

Bohras on TV
I am writing to share these two things I happened to watch on TV during last few months. There was an episode of CID on a Bohra family that husband stole a baby from the hospital without his wife's knowledge since she lost her baby during the delivery. Then CID investigated the report of another fam...

Re: Toronto masjid fund drive
If you would like to see the simplicity of Prayer halls or masjid then you should visit the Ismaili jamatkhanas around the globe and also in Canada and USA. In Mississauga, Ismailies were offering their prayers at a rented building in a church at and around south service road. The Imam and local cou...

Re: Aga Khan's view on cartoon issue
I am not very much learned about the Ismaili faith but as much I am aware of, these days there is no record of that 12% Tax(Dasond). In olden days like upto 70's jamati leadership use to keep the record of all murids that who has paid and who has not. Now it is 100% faith base. If you believe in Ima...

Aga Khan's view on cartoon issue
"An important goal of quality education is to equip each generation to participate effectively in what has been called "the great conversation" of our times. This means, on one hand, being unafraid of controversy. But it also means being sensitive to the values and outlooks of others....

Don't you think Imamat is still on with the present Aga Khan Karim al hussaini. He is the 49th Imam form the Nas of Hazrat Ali. The lineage is, 1-Mowlana Ali, 2-Mowlana Hussain, 3-Mowlana Zain Ul abedin, 4-Mowlana Mohd Baqir, 5-Mowlana Jaffer Sadiq, 6-Mowlana Ismail, 7-Mowlana Mohd. Ismail, 8-Mowlan...

Re: Good news for Toronto Mumineens
Thank you Ombharti, 12.5% is the substitute of Zakat for Ismailies. This is Imam's right to collect through the Mukhis and Kamadias of Jamat on Chandrat the Night of new moon. In olden days the Jamat use to keep a record of who is giving the 12.5% which is called Dasond. Dasond means 10% it is from ...

Re: Good news for Toronto Mumineens
Bohras should follow a guideline from the Ismaili Council for Canada. There is no fix share of any contribution. Only three donations and one contribution is announced in Jamat Khana every year. The first and formost is JSF called Jamat khana services funds, there is no limit or no compulsory donati...

Kaka, good explaination. A point to make it clear, these days Ismaili Jamat khana's are purpose built. One part of the Jamat khana is called prayer hall, where the food except for the religious ceremonies is strictly not allowe. The second are of the jamat khana is called Social Hall. In Social Hall...

Re: How bohras get jamatkhana....
Kaka, Waqar's question is not clear, what I understood from his question is that which Imam aked you to built Jamatkhana or Masjid. As he mentioned that Ismaili Imam in their era asked Ismailies to built Jamat Khana's in the same reference, whcih Imam or Dai started building jamatkhana, out of tradi...

In my opinion, there should be a merger of Bohris and Shia Imami Ismailis. In Ismaili constitution promolgated by the His Highness Prince Karim Aga khan around a qaurter of century ago, maintains that Imam of the time has the final authority. Although it is mentioned in that Ismaili believes in Tawh...

Mumineen, If you see the pictures on web for the Bohri Dai's recent visit to California and compare it to the Deedar Hall for the Aga Khan you will come up with the measure of simplicity. Bohri's are still very simple, during the Aga khan's visit to Canada, over 10 million dollars were spent on his deedar, total of 135,000 Murids were present in four Deedar sessions. Per Murid cost for Deedar was CAD74.07. Besides that the cost of travelling, boarding, lodging and shopping incurred b...

There are several messages on this board about, Bohri, Ismaili, Ithnaashari and all these faiths were called religion. In my opinion these are not the religions, these are the faiths. Islam is the religion, like Christianity, Judism and Hinduism.

This tradition was followed in Pakistan by Ismailis under the name of "Samuh Lagan". This kind of marriages are orgnized by an ethnic political group of Pakistan named "MQM" and also by Jamat-e-Islami. What a wonderful idea, how advanced we are and following Hindu tradition. It i...
