Lagats and various other "taxes"

The one and only free public forum for Bohras. The focus of this forum is the reform movement, the Dawoodi Bohra faith and, of course, the corrupt priesthood. But the discussion is in no way restricted to the Bohras alone.

These lagats remind me of Abbasi Khalifa. He used to collect taxes from Zaereen who visited the holy shrine of Imam Hussain. Similarly our masjid Aamil and tanzeem collects lagats when you go to Karbala Hajj Umrah or any other places of Ziyarats.
For Hajj is 2500 indian rupees to 5000 per person dependening on your area and aamils mood.
For karbala its anything between 1200 to 2000.
Even Moghul Emperor Akbar abolished Jiziya, a tax collected from non muslim, whenever they visited their holy places.
One of my friend's son got married recently, he had to pay lagat at three various cties jamat. One at the place of residence, one at their native village, and one where the son was staying for education.

normally lagat is taken as a rent for jamaat kahana which you are using for the functions, these money is used for paying electricity bills and for the maintenance.
