Now, The Amils Ape The Dai And His Zaadas.

Following the foootsteps of zaadas, todays amils too have become very arrogant and flout their clout on any and every abde as though it is their birth right to do so. In recent years it has become common for kothar to depute their amils at every housing society in Mumbai where there is a sizeable bohra population. This is done as the masjids no longer have the space to accomodate the growing (due to birth factor and not conversion) and immigrant population as no new masjids can be constructed due to paucity of land and the exhorbitant land prices. This is also to keep the bohras in herds and in a ghettoised environment where checks and balances can be easily carried out. Then there is the constant need to bombard them with daily bayans which zeroes down to the glorification of the dai and reminds them to pay their wajebats as much as possible as that is the ONLY path which could lead them to salvation ! Then there is also the compulsory daily dose of heavy matams irrrespective of the time and occassion.

One such ghettoised area is Spence road in Byculla where an amil by the name of Shabbir Godhrawla is deputed who thinks that he is the reincarnation of a bhaisaab. Just as in the case of the Dai and other zaadas, he has laid down certain conditions which are as follows and which the gullible abdes duly adhere to :-

1) An abde is required to fetch him daily from his house in a car.
2) The car seat should be duly covered with a masalla type cloth lest his bums get dirtied.
3) On arriving at the venue, an abde should do "Talakki" i.e. the amil should be taken to his masalla by an abde who is required to hold his hand duly covered by a handkerchief.
4) For the iftaari, the Amil settles for nothing less then a big glass of 'Harira' which is filled upto the brim with dryfruits and which should be accompanied with a variety of non-veg snacks.

The 'Talakki' is done by none other then Sheikh Babubhai Liliyawala who resides in the vicinity and who is famous for being the one who used to open the gates of raudat tahera early morning some years back. He is a senior sheikh compared to the amil.

It is a matter of disgrace that bohras are now subjected to such autocratic behaviour and humiliation not only from the zaadas but even the second and third rung amils. But why should we blame the amil ? He is doing exactly what he has learnt from his masters and is also aware that the gullible abdes are too meek and terrified to raise their voice. He knows that slavery is so thoroughly imbibed into the abde's psyche that an abde loses his/her mental balance if he is not treated like a slave. A day is not far when these low rung amils will also demand ziyafats just to be in line with their masters and the abdes will be more then willing to adhere to their demand.

Thanks GM, I was thinking to write something on the line but you have written it more precisely.
its a common problem and not confined to only Mumbai. Every village in India which has 10-15 Bohra houses didnt had aamils before they used to get a 5-6th grade talib from Jamea for Ramdan and Moharram but now they have a resident Muallim called Mosul who teaches to kids and is raza na saheb there. he is generally under the raza of nearby towns aamils and works under him. Now this looks and feels very innocent that kids are getting education and public has got their aamil but what people don't count in is the cost of this muallim, their wazeefa (salary) ranges from 10-12 thousand with free accommodation and salam on each and every occasion, travel expenses for self and family, very well furnished house, This setup was non existent just few years back.
There are a couple of reason to implement this system, first and foremost to keep abdes inline to Kothar's instruction and second to put Jamea passed students in jobs.
A day is not far when these low rung amils will also demand ziyafats just to be in line with their masters and the abdes will be more then willing to adhere to their demand
what is darees? its a ziyafat of the aamil. everything is same as ziyafat, salaam, humiliation.

Yes, this is absolutely true that Amils are being sent to small towns with 10-15 families in India. This is also happening in North America. I know of towns in North America where the local families didn't want a permanent Amil, but he was sent and now the families are paying unhappily.
Folks, the big brother (Kothar) is clawing all mumins no matter how far or how small town they live in.

Now they are working in two men team. Along with Amil comes a teacher (moullim). Community has to provide for two worthless idiots and their families. On every occasion both will sit down and collect salams. What a burden for the house of Allah and the community on the whole. In Pakistan we had street magicians/performers, when the acts were finished they would go around and collect money from the audience. They also worked in two men teams, just like our masjids in US. Atleast they provided a show, here the show is Molas Video, and matam.

Another trait that the amils have adopted of the zaadas is that their wives are addressed as 'bhabhisaab' which rhymes well with 'bensaabs', these bhabhisaabs too demand a treatment on par with bensaabs and needless to say, even envelopes alongwith salams !

Although I personally feel that it is a step in the right direction if amils are deputed to places which dont have easy access to masjids but it should be purely on religious lines i.e. to impart genuine religious training but the whole idea is being manipulated by the zaadas as their sole intention is to brainwash the abdes with ONLY glorification of the 52nd dai and find ways and means in order to convince bohras into giving maximum wajebats. The bayans of Panjatan Pak (a.s.) are almost missing and in some cases they are only token bayans, hardly 10% time is devoted to reflect on the lives and teachings of these great souls as 90% time is wasted in sheer praises and fairytale mojizas of the 52nd dai. Bayans of even the earlier dais are totally missing !

Nalwalla, I'm not sure how you find this funny and hilarious? Have you read Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World"? If not, it is highly recommended. His narrative finds a close parallel to what has been made of our community. He outlines a scenario where people will be so manipulated that they will come "love their slavery". This has already come to pass with a new breed of humans called abdes: It may appear that all this kowtowing to the clergy and submitting to its whims is done by abdes "willingly", but behind this "free will" there is years of brainwashing and coercion, socialisation of extortion and of making illegitimate legitimate. It's called "normalisation of evil". People give and submit because they want to fit in, want to feel important among their peers. Yes, everybody has a reason to do what they do - but there has to to be a baseline of moral and ethical behaviour against which our acts must be measured. And what abdes are being made to do is beyond accepted norms of ethics. It is really disgusting. And you find it funny and hilarious?

The marketing representatives of kothar (Amils) are given various instructions with regard to extortion from their respective jamat. One such example is Malad jamat wherein the amil has sent text messages to malad bohras wherein he has asked them to do "Idd Salams" to the dai, not with envelopes stuffed with money............. but with "Gold Guinea".

The text message is as follows :-

SALAM, MUMIN IDD NA DIN MOLA (TUS) NA NAJWA ANE SILATUL IMAM HAMESHA NI MISAL GUINEA MA ARAZ KARE, 2 JANA MILINE HALF GUINEA NI TAYYARI KARE.

Yes you are 100% right but in today's kalayug the Amil as per your description is 1%, and the 99% are money minded and aiyas.

And i always like to talk about the Aamil of our area when i got married too. That man was a thorough gentelman and so patient, loving, and kind-hearted. i wish him all the best and pray for more like him

people like him are hard to come by in todays day and age
Mustaf analwalla,
You are correct.
Why, just take a look at your beloved Burhanuddin -
now there is someone you can't say that about. No gentelman, he. What gentelman would sit on a stage
with Butcher Modi while his reasat parades by? There isn't a nice bone in his 97 - 101 year old body.
I mean, there isn't one kind-hearted, patient, and loving person in all of Saify Palace even - just imagine that "in today's day and age"!
Not even in a Palace that houses God on Earth! I say, that should really upset you.
But, since Burhanuddin appears to you in your dreams, why not try and see if you can let him know that- maybe your
love for him will motivate him to change his ways - who knows, your prayers that he live for a hundred billion years may just come to fruition.
Of course, anyone can be a "gentelman", so patient, loving, and kind-hearted - a gold guinea tucked into the palm can turn even the worst of
temperaments.
Now, please do us all a favor and go laugh at the mirror.

Yes, again you're right. (That's twice this week). I shouldn't have used cheap
names like Butcher Modi, gentelman, and God on Earth. I'm certain that must have upset you.
But, surely you didn't take umbrage with the use of the name "Burhanuddin"?
Now that's a REALLY, REALLY expensive name.

Misdeeds of an amil in Udaipur which appeared on the forum some time back :-

Today, 5 Jan 2012, Udaipur aamil was beaten up by orthodox Bohras women (Shabab) for allegedly defrauding people in what could be termed as Deedargate.

The aamil's residence was under siege for many hours, where hundreds of Bohras gathered, the police was called in to disperse the crowd.

The incident was apparently sparked by Sayedna's visit to neighbouring Galiyakot. It is believed that 200 passes were issued to Udaipur shabab group to be distributed to Bohras for free to give them access for deedar/kadambosi of Sayedna. It is alleged that the aamil Mustafa Moyaddie and his coterie issued 2000 passes and sold them for Rs 11,000 each.

The gullible abdes who bought these passes went to Galiyakot happily thinking the deedar of the dai is assured. But when they went there they were kicked out for carrying forged passes. Disappointed, scammed and enraged, they returned to Udaipur and mounted a siege on aamil's residence demanding their money back.

This incident is reminiscent of what happened nearly 40 years ago when Bohras attacked the delan setting off a revolution. Is this a new revolution in the making or just another skirmish that will be soon glossed over? Let's wait and watch.

Here are some news reports from the local Hindi newspapers:
News cuttings of fake passes scandal
