Ramzan - Mercy For Muslims But Nightmare For Bohras.

The one and only free public forum for Bohras. The focus of this forum is the reform movement, the Dawoodi Bohra faith and, of course, the corrupt priesthood. But the discussion is in no way restricted to the Bohras alone.

Ramzan - Mercy For Muslims But Nightmare For Bohras.

#1

Unread post by ghulam muhammed » Fri Jul 05, 2013 9:17 am

The month of Ramzan is considered to be the holiest month by Muslims across the globe for which the Ummah awaits eagerly every year as it is said that any deeds performed in the said month has manifold sawabs including the prayers. Many Muslims abstain from all bad habits and pledge to start afresh. The sanctity and significance of this month is well documented hence I would not go into more details.

Whereas Muslims from all sects welcome this month with great enthusiasm, Bohras are perhaps the only sect which are terrified and start having nightmares much before the month begins. Instead of enthusiastically preparing and welcoming this month Bohras are stressed and worried NOT in the event of being unable to perform righteous deeds thereby displeasing Allah (swt) but are MORE worried of displeasing the Dai and his henchmen. The cultish atmosphere created by the Dai makes Bohras more worried about inviting the wrath of Dai instead of Allah’s wrath.

Much before Ramzan starts, Bohra families are busy trying to find out ways and means of convincing the local amil into burdening them less with the exhorbitant demands of wajebats and other taxes. They are busy trying to adjust their balance sheets in order to accommodate the amil’s demands as they are more worried about their e-jamat cards being cancelled rather then their deeds getting eroded. Hence, the Ramzan preparation consists of various methods to woo the amils and arrange for monies needed to satisfy the unending greed of the Dai and his henchmen rather than devising methods to perform charity in the right places and please Allah (swt). The sad part is that inspite of knowing that the money collected under religious obligations is not spent for the purpose as specified in the Quran but is ONLY used to finance the ayyash lifestyle of the zaadas/zaadis, Bohras still go on paying them thereby not only disobeying Allah’s commands but also giving them enough ammunition to torture them even further. For instance, suppose that someone is in a habit of giving alms to a beggar on a regular basis but one day he sees the beggar gambling and drinking then will he continue with his charity ?? The obvious answer is NO because if he continues then he becomes a BIGGER SINNER as the fact as to where his money goes is now revealed to him hence he needs to stop but in Bohra’s case they go on funding the ayyashis of the Dai and his extended family fully knowing that they are HELPING him into amassing more wealth which is not used for any free hospitals, free schools and colleges, free housing for the poor etc etc. but only to satisfy their unending greed for money.

The cultish community is now not allowed to pray in Masjids during Ramzan unless one PAYS for the masala space which is Rs.15,000/- in Nanpura masjid, Surat and which fluctuates depending upon the area and class of people residing in it. To pray in the main masjid of Surat one has to submit the “Sanad” which is a certificate issued by local amil certifying the abde’s amals and knowledge of wudhu and prayers. Now it is left to the Dai and his henchmen and not Allah (swt) to decide as to who is entitled to pray in Masjids whereas all these years people thought that Masjid is Allah’s house and not anyones baap ki jagir.

There are innumerable cases wherein abdes have taken loans from bank and friends in order to pay the exhorbitant amount of wajebat which is way beyond their means. Kothar too is now devising new methods by giving them qardan hasanah. These evil tactics have changed the very meaning and purpose of Zakat which is actually required to be given to the needy as specified in Quran and Hadiths and the amount which is payable is also specified and finally its at the discreation of the payer and NOT the Dai. How in the world can the Dai and his henchmen know as to what amount of Zakat is required to be paid by any individual ?

Due to the ongoing global economic meltdown, countries have now started implementing austerity measures but in Bohras case the Dai keeps on increasing his budget and burdens his followers even more irrespective of the fact that his followers too are facing financial problems. Never in the history of the 52nd era has the Dai ever cut down on wajebats but only increased it manifold. On second thoughts why should the Dai alone be blamed when it is the foolish abde idiots who ALWAYS succumb to the Dai’s ever increasing demands………………… He has every right to laugh all the way to the bank !!

i have friends and relatives all over the world and almost everyone i have spoken to are stressed and fearful regarding the upcoming vajebaat payments and the dadagiri of the amils.

i have no sympathy for them. on the contrary i fervently pray that the burden on meek, gullible and timid bohras should increase manifold. after all that is what they deserve. its only when it reaches unbearable levels will the sheep revolt.

As if the money collected by selling masallah space and allowing conditional entry in Masjids after submitting 'Sanad' was not enough to trouble the Bohras in the solemn month of Ramzan, the Surat Amil has issued a new fatwa for bohra women wanting to pray in 'Main Masjid'.......................... "Any Bohra woman wanting to use the lift will have to shell out Rs.70/- or else climb the 2/3 floors by stairs".

Good post, al zulfiqar. I agree but over the last many years the amount of Wajebaat and other dues have been
jacked up incrementally. Bohras continue to pay up under duress and perhaps some of them (by some Asmani-Sultani) have managed to have their dues reduced. If the Aamil shows some Bohras magnanimity of reducing their dues then the
Aamil can 'hath na niche rakhe' these individuals. In fact I know from a close relative who is a Sheikh that all Aamils get a cut. Or why else would they harass / compel Bohras to pay. Kothar increases dues annually and it has a pressing reason to do it; in that the number of 'Royal' family members are always increasing, their members are growing up and constantly require more and more funds and resources. So where else would Kothar get it from if not from increasing dues. It is a mute point to ever expect Wajebaat to go down. My experience of Abdes in general is that most of them are spineless - 'buzdil' when it comes to initiating or supporting a campaign of non-compliance. Kothar juggernaut would vanquish them ruthlessly and with such vengeance that no other upstart would even dream of disobeying them.

I am reminded of a Beduin byword that says: Everytime a piece of load is placed on its back a camel will let out an ear-piercing shrill. This will go on till the last piece is loaded. In the end the camel will get up on its feet and follow the caravan.

You are absolutely right.............. Every Amil is entitled to a 10% Commission on the amount of Wajebat that he collects for the ayyashi of the mafias living in Saifee Mahal.

As if the money collected by way of selling Masallah space and usage of lift charges were not enough, Bohras praying in the main Surat Masjid will now have to pay Rs.25/- for keeping their chappals with the attendant.

Even the lower middle class Bohras living in Mumbra have to pay Rs.252/- by way of masallah space, wajebats and other taxes which increases every year are extra. The irony is that Bohras living in shanties in places like Mumbra, Dharavi, Kandivli slum and Sion Chunabhatti are actually RIGHTFULLY entitled to RECIEVE wajebats but they end up PAYING !! It seems there is MORE poverty in Saifee Mahal then in Mumbra.

CORRECT! did you know that the saifee mahal dinosaurs live in such abject poverty that they have no proper clothes to wear and majority are roaming around in a state of half-undress? that they will even eat any scraps and discarded morsels just to keep their body and soul together?

the corridors are littered with garbage, the rooms strewn with rags and throw-offs. its an extremely pitiable situation. the great hall stinks with sweaty body odour and refuse.

i suggest bhai bohraji start a new campaign to collect funds to fight poverty inside saifee mahal. i hope you, brothers gm and sbm, show enough generosity this time to contribute much more than what you did for the poor bohras of ahmedabad.

after all how can we allow our 'first family' to roam around naked and hungry, begging for crumbs???

Hello
I dont understand why do bohra community need money for...I m not much into religion as i feel its all money game but i m sure that in the holy month of ramzan if you do good deed like ifatari or give grain/sugar to poor ppl, help them Ramadan its the best time to do..

But the kotar stuff are finding ways to mint money dont know why...they feel if they take more and more money they will be doing good deed but they are wrong...Religion is not at all money.god is there
In Mumbai Hussaini Masjid (and heard the same in qutubi masjid) in Mohala near bhendi bazaar ,the chamcha committee send letter clearly stating that we have to take 1 unit per house @ Rs.3500 or more if you wish too for jaaman after namaz but when ppl go to pay the amount they demand only 1 unit for 2 ppl if a house have 5/6 member they have to pay 3 unit that is Rs.10500 .And if any one say that they cant afford the amount force by the chamcha they are like dont come for food no one force u to come.Boss it a good deed if u do ifatari for ppl and seriously after taking money they are not satisfy they still begg during jaman saying jaane thaal lakhavo hoi toh chamcha gate paase bhig no katore lai ne bessa che....Height of begging
I dont understand why do they begg for money or force anyone for pay...there are many ppl who cant afford the this why cant our comminty who have crores of ruppes can used them.

To be frank poor ppl used to be feel relive before as during ramzan they didnt have to worry abt food as before there used to be jaman every year but now they have to find alternative.

the day is not far off when abdes will invite zaadas into their homes just for "toilet sharaf."

after the zaada has visited your fat-cat abde shaikh neighbour's house and engorged himself on a labrez ziyafat of 4 khaaras, 4 mithaas etc, it would be but a natural extension for him to visit your house and avail the services of your recently renovated and upgraded toilet and grant such desirous abdes with 'toilet sharaf' (aka 'bayt ul khala sharaf'), honoring them with a token 'noorani deposit'. the salaam for this beshumaar karam will be only 52534/= rs.

all abdes eager to get this azeemmushaan sharaf must immediately visit their local jamaat offices to get instructions on how to upgrade and renovate their toilets/wc's/washrooms/sandaas, with the latest colors and textures of tiles, faucets, lotas, deodorants, exhaust fans, attars, scented towels for the rouhani bottoms, etc etc.

this sharaf can safely continue throughout the year, incl. ramadan and moharram.

Since the onset of Ramadan, Kuwait Jamat has been announcing to people for registering for attending Namaz at various markaz. They expressed their intention was to maintain Nizam and make provision for optimum use, as usual most bohras cooperate in good faith.

Many mumins approached registration desks to follow the rules, to their surprise, there was a registration charge ( KD 7 per adult masalla) and a voluntary compulsory hoob, surprised to see two contradicting words !

Once registration is done, then a compulsory hoob must be paid to obtain the entry pass. The amount is suppose to be at discretion of the payer, but sheikhs and mullahs on the desks put the payer in embarrassing situation by negotiating more faakhir rakam. Most of them are carried away in Ramadan sentiments or Shy not to argue with elderly sheikhs , while some blatantly refuse and resort to arguments.

Apart from compulsory volunteered hoobs, they have kept the price list for mumins who wish to sponsor entire events :

Normal Day Niyaz = KD 500+
Washek Raat Niyaz = KD 700+
Zabihat = KD 65+
Iftar = KD 72+

Counters for :

Kaffarat payment
Dua ni Araz

Furthermore, entry pass is barcoded and every bohra must get the pass scanned. To facilitate this “Nizam” they have placed 3 – 5 abdes starting from main door until scanning point, to remind abdes to hold their cards in their hands to ensure quick scanning and passage.

Those bohras who have not registered or paid up, sheepishly walk across with lowered gaze fearing / hoping no humiliation. As they are stopped to present the pass for scanning.

Adding to the fear, jamaat committee keeps announcing to people to register and pay up else they would be refused entry.

In this holy month of Ramadan, Kothar and its lackeys has fallen to such level of greed and loot. They have kept aside the ‘hurmat’ of Ramadan and are hell-bent on putting their foot down over bohra commoners by shamelessly announcing refusal to pray if monies are not paid up.

What a Shame !

KD 2 per person is good ! not that it is right, but cheaper then other areas !

This system of registration is wrong by all means. When jamaat takes sabeel monthly subscription, that shall be enough.

Frankly I used to contribute more then what they are asking now. But since they have resorted to such compulsion and humiliation I resist them.

One Sheikh argued with me that, everyone does not pay and many are freeloaders. It doesn’t matter.. “Jetlu bane—Etlu Karo - Fi Sabeelilllah”

Coming together praying and spending time is more important then forced Jamans !

Bohras of Nagpur are now forced to pay Rs.2,700/- on account of "Mohurrum" in the month of Ramzan. They are forced to pay another sum of Rs.2,700/- towards "Sihori Thaali" after which they get a parcel containing 1/2 kg butter, 1/2 kg tea, a milkmaid tin and 1/2 kg toast biscuit the total price of which would not be even Rs.500/-. And after making the abdes pay for their own goods and after pocketing the extra money the slogan is "Mola taraf thi che" !!

how about giving him the idea of 'TOILET SHARAF"? he will not only bless you, you can negotiate with him on commission for giving him this azeemushaan new concept of getting 'relieved' while 'relieving' the stupid abdes of substantial sums..

just reproducing below my post on this subject:

why would anyone even give ziyafat to Muder BS... what's his stature in the Corporation (Kothar Inc.) and 31 ziyafats for him is an achievement I must say...

Blame all this on the airlines who nowadays charge for each and everything, even for toilet on a particular airline. In US, most airlines charge for even 1 bag and some airlines charge for even the cabin bag !! ... I think they are learning from them. Now interpolate that to the case here.. Charges for all miscellaneous things. No place left that can't be charge. The aamils might even be doing case studies on those airlines :) Wait for the goons to find out new avenues for minting money...

Very true ! Ramadan is a month of “Fi-Sabi-Lillah” but Kothar has made it “Fee-Sab-La” .. a sad PJ but sadly true !

One can understand that, provision for Iftar and jaman cost resources for which as community members shall pitch in. In my opinion keep the doors open to donors, one or all, let them pay what they deem fit to their pocket and conscience. Paste the list of expenses and days that are covered with funding, rest invite donations. The focus shall be congregation of prayer with humble Iftaar.

Above was the case, when kothar did not meddle at local jamat levels. I remember in my childhood days. Bunch of philanthropic bohras came together and rented a dilapidated hall and renovated temporarily for Ramadan gatherings. People with leadership qualities would spearhead the arrangements and other members according to their expertise would pitch in to do “khidmat”. We did not ask or harass anyone for payment. Yet people would come forward and donate amounts be it large or small, many would give away with anonymous name (Ek mumin bhai taraf thi). List of donation along with names would be updated weekly basis ( Fridays) and pasted on the main notice board.

There used to be few days, where markaz could not cover jaman cost, those days we would just distribute apples or serve sherbet and people would merrily move on. But there were large hearted members who ensured year after year that jamans are facilitated. Whenever there was excess jamans, it used to be announced to carry the excess home, so there was no wastage.

Be it kid or adults all got involved in some ways or other, decorating for lailtul Qadr, EID or other washek nights, to people pitching in with money or resources such as lights, breads, snacks, ration, equipments etc. Rich or poor, it did not matter, everyone felt comfortable and equal.

The extra benefits of providing “Fi-Sabi-Lillah khidmat” by those khidmaguzar was that people would offer money salaam with humble gratitude and shukran najwas. Thier respect in the community and its emotional satisfaction was amazing to feel. I remember as kids we used to get gifts on EID for being hardworking throughout the month. It used to be proud moment for us and our parents. Such a joyous, merry and blessed month Ramadan used to be.

It was somewhere in the year 1998-2000 when farman from kothar came regarding centralizing the tanzeem committee and names of the member were to be chosen by kothar sitting in Mumbai. It was absurd and political.

Fair minded khidmatguzaars were asked to toe the line as instructed by kothar. It was roughly in the year 2000 when hoob per masalla was to be made compulsory and it was met with strong resistance. But since then kothar has slowly and steadily applied control techniques. Fair minded khidmatguzars were sidelined on some pretext ( Maula-ni-Raza) and kothar planted their own stooges to regulate fund collections.

The answer to all the questions asked above is all this money is taken for various reasons under various heads in various ways, because the operating principle is
"Ghanu looto, ghanu looto"
