La'nat - Some Clarification
(Article received via Email by and posted here with a few edits)
KQ and his clan continue to cry about the “La´nat” being said on him, and accuse Dawat Majaalis as turning into majaalis filled with hate, thus attempting to portray Mumimeen as fundamentalists and bigots. (Ref: FatemiDawat website Q&A and Videos 6 & 10, and various Sijill Documents). In doing this, they seek the emotional support of non-Bohras and the numerical support of the so called ’Progressive Bohras’ .
Firstly, if any of the Qutbi Bohras had attended the 40 day Khatm al-Quran majaalis of Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS they would have seen and heard, the ziyarat, the Khatm al-Quran, Sadaqallah Dua (in which each day Syedna Mufaddal would describe the maqaam of Syedna Burhanuddin RA with bursting emotions), recitation of marthiyah in the memory of Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA, matam, and finally, a speech by a Saheb or dignitary. These speeches would recall the esteemed character of Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA, and would end on the maqaam of his Mansoos, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS. Whilst doing this, on some occasions, the speaker and the audience would voice their La´nat upon and bara’at from those who have deviated from the Dai Mutlaq. This would probably consumen about ½ or 1% of the total time of the Majaalis. Thus, to refer to these Majaalis as hate filled gatherings would be a total exaggeration. If KQ and his followers feel that Mumineen were referring to them when affirming the fundamental tenet of faith of distancing themselves from the enemies of Dawat, then their guilt and lack of conviction over their truthfulness is evident to all.
The meaning of La’nat:
La’ana َلعَن = to be distanced from khayr (good), rehmat (mercy). To punish, curse etc. The subject of the word “La´nat”, Mal’oon ملعون is person who has been distanced from rehmat, khayr and one who is damned and cursed.

La’nat & Bara’at - An Integral part of Islamic Dawoodi Bohra belief
La’nat in the Quran:
Fatemi texts confirm that along with doing Walayat of the Saheb al Zaman, it is incumbent on all to do Bara’at from evil prior to that. This is why we recite of اعوذ بالله السميع العليم من الشيطان الرجيم (to seek refuge from Satan, the cursed), and then recite بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم (In the Name of Allah…)..
The Quran is The Book of guidance for all humanity. It is The Book of Pure Love and Peace.
It is interesting to note that the word La’nat is mentioned in the Quran about 40 times (similar ideas are mentioned in the Holy Bible and other religious texts). This is evidence that La’nat is an integral part of Islamic belief. It doesn’t make you into a 'hate-filled fundamentalist'. It is what defines you as a Muslim.
Husain Qutbuddin despite his PhD in Quranic studies, seems to have forgotten, or has deliberately hidden these basic tenets of the Quran.
In the Quran, Allah, his angels and the people recite La’nat on a number of different categories, some are mentioned here:
Iblees (The Devil)
Those who hide & deny the Truth
Liars
Zalemeen (Tyrants)
One who murders a Mumin
Fir'awn (Pharaoh) and his followers
A person who falsely accuses someone else
Those who make life difficult for the Prophet
The people enter hell will pray La’nat on each other for leading them astray.
More so, the Quran does instruct the people to recite La’nat on those who fall into these categories.
(Indeed, those who did Kufr and died as Kuffaar, on them is the La'nat of Allah, the angels and the people)
Those who hid the Truth, have the La'nat of Allah and the La’nat of the people (those who recite La’nat).
It is clear that La’nat is indeed a part of our aqeedah, so what more apt place to do izhaar (reveal) our aqeedah than in a Masjid or Majlis of Dawat?
The True followers of Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA, the Haq na Dai, are the ones who accept the nass on Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS. Khuzaima Qutbuddin, according to the Quran is an imposter. He distanced himself from the Dai, and in return has been distanced from rehmat and khayr. He falls under the above mentioned categories. Let us evaluate:
Iblees (The Devil) - Just as Iblees refused to give Sajda to to Adam AS. His pride and ego had the worst of him.
Those who hide & deny the Truth - KQ continues to hide and deny the proof of Nass, even though it is clear as day.
Liars - As seen multiple times on his site, in his, and his children’s bayaans, they continue to fabricate and spread their lies.
Zalemeen (Tyrants). One who claims something that is not rightfully his is a zaalim. KQ claims the lofty role of the Dai Muthlaq, he is nothing but a zaalim.
One who murders a Mumin. The Quran says that “fitnat is worse than murder”. To claim to be Dai, and spread fitnat is nothing but true murder, nay, it is much worse.
Mushrikeen (Idol worshipers). Syedi Sadiq Ali Saheb states that “those who follow the ones without Nass are nothing but idol worshipers” (they are void of the “life” of Nass, they are truly dead). Khuzaima Qutbuddin is an idol without Nass to his followers.
Fir'awn (Pharaoh) and his followers. The Fir’awn was delusional to claim that he was God. KQ claims he is the Dai.
A person who falsely accuses someone else. On number of times Khuzaima and his children have falsely accused Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS.
Those who make life difficult for Mohammed Rasoolullah SAW. Khuzaima continued to make Syedna “Mohammed” Burhnanuddin’s life difficult, and currently, the life of his true Mansoos.
The people going into hell will pray La’nat on each other for leading them astray: Although many mumineen were saved from KQ’s clutches, all those who left him continue to pray La’nat on him for leading them astray from so many years.
Learning from the past:
It is narrated in Kitab al-Taharaat, that Rasulullah SA, after seeing the mucus of someone who spat in the Qiblah, said la’nat on its doer. What is noteworthy is that Rasooulullah SA is Rehmat lil A’alameen (the mercy of Allah for all mankind), but when such a hideous crime took place, this was his reaction. Syedi Sadiq Ali Saheb QS, in one of his Naseehats states that the Dai is “The Masjid”, they are one in the same. If someone insults the Dai Mutlaq then he is deserving of La'nat, which was indeed the amal of Rasoolullah SAW & Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS.
Moulana Ali AS used to recite La'nat on Mua’wiyah LA in the qunoot dua of his fajar namaaz. Mua’wiyah LA refused to accept the Imamat and Khilafat of Moulana Ali AS, even though Rasulullah had done a clear nass upon him, and after the people had sworn allegiance to him at the time.
Imam Mohammed al Baqir AS, and Imam Jafar al Sadiq AS, on finding out the corrupt aqeedah of two people, Abu al Khattab and al Mogheerah, instantly recited La'nat on them and wrote to all the cities clearly stating that he has done bara’at and condemns their beliefs and actions. This is very similar to our times.
Imam Ali Zayn al Abedeen is the epitome of kindness, love and mercy. He suffered the lashes of the Umayyads but never wished ill on any man. In his dua that is recited daily after fajr namaaz in Ramadan, he lists the deeds that mumineen should carry out during the this blessed month. He lists in detail the ibadat one should do, and then goes on to describe the character (akhlaaq) of a mumin and his social responsibility during this blessed month, and generally throughout the year:
[From the 3rd line] O’ Allah, and give us tawfeeq to do silat with our relations and shower our neighbours with ifdhaal and gifts. [Line 7] And (grant us tawfeeq) to bring near those whom have kept us away, and be just to those who have done zulm on us, and make peace with our enemies. But never those who are Your enemies. For they are The Enemy that we will never love, and they are our War and we shall never reconcile.
What is important to note is that Imam Zayn al Abedeen AS lists great characteristics of mercy and forgiveness, but clearly states that the enemy of Allah (and the Imam and his Dai), are those who do not deserve this mercy.
There are numerous instances of La’nat throughout the history of Dawat and Dawat texts (Eg: The last verse of يا سيد الشهداء, where Syedna RA recites La'nat on Yazeed). The most common is what every Mumin recites after Fajar namaaz everyday. Just after reciting the Fateha of Duat Muthlaqeen, and prior to Surah e Yaseen, we recite the following Dua:
(The Badd Dua on the enemies of Awliya Ullah AS)
Thus, the amal of Mumineen during the 40 day Sadaqallah, by saying La’nat & doing bara’at on those who harbor ill will towards the Dawat and Dai Zamaan is nothing but in accordance to the teaching of Islam and the Fatimi Imams AS.
Ironically, Khuzaima Qutbuddin’s beloved son Taher had also written a document that was once posted on their Tahiyaat.com site (which has now been removed), correctly doing bara’at and and badd dua on those that insult the Dai, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin RA. By rejecting the clear Nass on Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS, that bara’at and badd dua is now aimed at them.
What goes around comes around.
Here is his letter:
[Translation: (Mazoon Saheb in his sabaq said to convey this as well) That if anyone insults the Dai al Zaman or does His dushmani, then curse be upon him. Whoever does dushmani of the Dai al Zaman, then he/she will never receive the shafa’at of the Dai. He will be punished in hell for ever. Mumineen’s beliefs are very clear, that only after doing bara’at from the Dai’s enemies, can ones walayat be accepted.

mustafa taskeen wrote:TB's letter that has been posted here also carries an important point. He states that his father KQ clearly mentioned in his sabaq that "sajda" is only for the Dai and every other rutba should be appropriately venerated by "tasleem" and "taazeem"! Had the qutbis forgotten the sermons of their own maula! Or did they keep disobeying him??
I even have to question the integrity of KQ himself. When he himself is denying sajda on one instance for him then how did he allow sajda to himself on multiple other occasions!?? True as the post says, la'anat on the one who lies, according to quran! Hope the anonymous is reading.
