Saudi moral committee threatens to cover “tempting” women’s eyes

Women with sexy eyes in Saudi Arabia may be forced to cover them up, according to the spokesperson of the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (CPVPV) in the conservative Gulf kingdom.

Spokesman of the Ha’eal district, Sheikh Motlab al-Nabet said the committee has the right to stop a women whose eyes seem “tempting” and order her to cover them immediately.

Saudi women are already forced to wear a loose black dress and to cover their hair and in some areas, their face, while in public or face fines or sometimes worse, including public lashings.

The announcement came days after the Saudi newspaper al-Watan reported that a Saudi man was admitted to a hospital after a fight with a member of the committee when he ordered his wife to cover her eyes. The husband was then stabbed twice in the hand.

The CPVPV is Saudi’s Sharia, Islamic law, executive arm and was founded in 1940 to ensure Islamic laws are not broken in public, yet over the years, the committee has been largely criticized over its human rights violations.

In 2002, the committee refused to let female students out of their burning schools in Mecca for “not wearing the proper head cover,” which contributed to a large number of dead.

15 young girls died in the fire and dozens more were injured. The CPVPV men banned the firemen and policemen from accessing the girls as “it is not okay for girls to be seen without their full Islamic dress in front of strangers.”

The committee, which only accepts and trains volunteers, has questionable powers on the Saudi street, as they operate under the supervision of the King himself.

A Wikileaks document released last year mentioned that “wild Western-style parties” are regularly held at royal palaces in Jeddah, away from the reach of the committee, who stands helpless against any royal violations.

It was reported that the parties had alcohol, drugs, dancing and sex, according to American consulate wires published by the whistle-blower organization

I think the Saudi Moral Police should instead be on a lookout for pervert sex-hungry Wahhabi animals and inject them with drugs which would reduce their testosterone levels. In extreme cases, their testes should altogether be undone with so that they can concentrate on things other than sexy eyes.

I agree. Infact, I think that they should pass a law over there that any male found attempting to look at a woman's eyes or anything else will be blinded. After a couple of punishments, the men will start covering their own eyes.

Women join Saudi security forces for the first time

May 12, 2012

Women have joined the military for the first time in Saudi Arabia.

Thirty women were recruited as privates at the Passport Department’s offices at border crossings like King Fahd Causeway and Salwa border point in the east of the Kingdom.

A recent study of Naif University for Security Sciences’ Studies and Research Center showed that Saudi women have been embarking on security work as volunteers. The study "Women Police in Arab Countries" indicated a real potential for an effective women police force in Saudi Arabia. If that were to be implemented, the study said, all segments of society should encourage it, especially as policewomen would be dealing exclusively with cases involving women, in compliance with religious and traditional ethos.

Saqr Al-Muqaiyed, who conducted the study, said that about 4,000 women have attended courses and education lectures on issues related to security, including fire extinguishing, after assistant minister of interior for security affairs had approved it.

Head of Saudi General Intelligence Prince Muqrin said that (Saudi) women play an important role within the department. “We have a group of women that every Saudi should be proud of. Their reports, analyses and suggestions are far better than a lot of the men’s,” he said.

Saudi woman fights cops for painted nails

A video of a brave Saudi woman confronting members of the country's religious police after they accused her of breaking strict modesty rules with her freshly painted nails, has gone viral on internet. The unidentified woman refuses their demands to leave the mall where she was present and tells them that her nails are 'none of (their) business'.

After she filmed the incident on her cell phone and it was posted online, her row with members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has gone viral. It has ignited a debate in Saudi Arabia over the way that members of the commission should deal with people in public places, the Daily Mail here reported.

The video shows several men in traditional Saudi dress, who have apparently stopped the woman to chastise her for the immodesty of her freshly manicured nails. One of the men orders the woman to leave the mall, but she refuses and the pair becomes embroiled in a heated argument in the middle of the mall's concourse. 'The government didn't send you to follow me,' she yells at the men. 'The government said there would be no persecution[of women], she is heard saying. In two days, the video has got 106,512 views on YouTube.

I looked at the video on Youtube and the video is posted by Memri TV. Memri TV is an israeli propaganda outlet. Memri's original mission statement, which was later changed is this - "In its research, the institute puts emphasis on the continuing relevance of Zionism to the Jewish people and to the state of Israel."

This woman might very well be an Israeli agent. Although, I think this should help Saudi women a lot. They need to think like the Israelis when it comes to defending themselves. These police morons, wasting their time on women with nailpolish, need to grow a pair of balls and start thinking about the other problems knocking on their doors.

A Riyadh-based e-portal recently set up for women empowerment in the Middle East won first place in a competition organized by the United Nations and the International Labor Organization (ILO) through the Youth Employment Network.

Glowork.net, which placed first in the UN contest, is the Kingdom’s portal for recruitment of women workers in the Kingdom.

Khalid Alkhudair, Glowork’s founder, told Arab News that this was a great honor for the Kingdom and also honored the efforts of those responsible for setting up the website, which enabled a large number of women to find jobs through the portal.

Jeddah Alumni Association organizes carnival for women and children

Music, games, contests, acts and lots of other fun activities marked the Ladies and Kids Carnival organized by the International Indian School Jeddah Alumni Association (IISJAA) at the Indian Consulate.

More than 500 ex-students, women and other Indian community members enjoyed the fair at the carnival.

There were stalls set up by various members of the community, including food booths, a parlor, clothes boutiques, jewelry stalls, art displays and displays of goods by various companies.

Scintillating performances from the ex-students who danced to famous Indian songs enthralled the crowd. The highlight of the evening was a flash mob act by the group. Their mesmerizing dance steps were so much in sync that the crowd too joined in the dance and sustained the tempo.

Saudi Authority plans to establish women-only industrial cities

Efforts are under way to establish the Kingdom's first women-only industrial city in the Eastern Province city of Hofuf. Saudi Industrial Property Authority (Modon) has initiated works for planning and development of the city, targeting women investors.

"We are now working on a second industrial city for women," said Saleh Al-Rasheed, acting director general of Modon. "We have plans to establish a number of women-only industries in various parts of the Kingdom," he added.

Al-Rasheed said Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs Prince Mansour bin Miteb, has already allocated land for the first women-only industrial city in Hofuf.

The move follows a Cabinet decision that urged authorities to create more job opportunities for women in order for them to play an important role in the Kingdom's development.

The Cabinet also instructed the relevant ministry to allocate lands within the city limits to establish industrial projects for women. The new industrial city in Hofuf is located near Al-Ahsa Airport.

Modon seeks to allocate land for industrial development and develop industrial cities in collaboration with a number of government agencies and the private sector to meet the requirements of investors.
