Zakir Naik’s Peace TV Banned in India

Finally, the efforts of Agniveer to combat anti-national terror forces have yielded results. After detailed analyses of evil designs of promoter(s) of the threatening Peace TV made public by Agniveer, it has finally been banned by Intelligence Bureau, Government of India. To broadcast this channel now or support anti-India propaganda is a criminal offence.

It was exactly three years ago when Agniveer spearheaded the intellectual crusade against open terrorism by radical Islamist Zakir Naik. As liberal and secular Indians, it was impossible for us to even imagine that, in India, someone can threaten apostates (those who change their religion) of death penalty or abuse gods and deities of other faiths or insult Prophet whom billions of devotees consider messenger of God. But all this happened and kept happening for years. A man called Zakir Naik continued to enjoy the freedom of speech regardless of blasphemous acts he committed against all religions and their founders.

Why Muslims protested against Zakir Naik at the IICC in Delhi

The office bearers and supporters of Ulama and Mashaikh Board, an organisation of Sufi Muslims protested at IICC against inviting Zakir Naik, who reportedly supported terrorists like Osama bin Laden

Over 250 Muslims on Saturday protested against Zakir Naik at Delhi's India Islamic Cultural Centre (IICC) demanding arrest of the controversial televangelist.

“The IICC office bearers need to explain why they have invited Naik who has even expressed his support for terrorists like Osama Bin Laden. He has also been against any kind of concessions to minority religious groups in Islamic countries," Anjum Zaidi, one of the organisers of the protest said.

Naik was invited by IICC to deliver a talk on Quran and Science on Saturday.

The office bearers and supporters of Ulama and Mashaikh Board, an organisation of Sufi Muslims also gathered at the IICC to lodge a protest. "Naik is an enemy of Islam. He is an enemy of Prophet Mohammad and his teachings," they said.

Accusing Naik as an agent of Saudi Arabia, the said, "We will not allow divisive Wahabism to prosper in this land of Hazrat Nizamuddin and Moinuddin Chishti".

Former union minister Arif Mohammad Khan also wrote a letter to IICC president Sirajuddin Qureshi asking why Naik was invited at the Centre. "...in the present times when the community is under siege on account of the misdeed of handful of terror outfits and the whole religion is being projected as religion of terror, it is important to keep in mind the image and impact of persons who are invited by the centre to interact with its members. A casual glimpse of the writings and speeches of Mr Zakir Naik in the past gives enough idea of his stand on terrorism that is plaguing the whole world particularly India since last few decades," the letter reads.

Meanwhile, Zaidi also lodged a complaint at the Tughlaq Road Police Station demanding arrest of Naik under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). "We demand that Zakir Naik, since it is established that he has supported terror and terrorists should be booked under UAPA and his role be properly investigated," the complaint reads.

Earlier, in December 2012, Darul Uloom, the globally influential Islamic seminary has slammed the religious views of controversial televangelist Dr Zakir Naik in a fatwa as doubtful, urging Muslims to avoid following him, says a report from Hindustan Times.

“Although Naik, a doctor turned preacher, has gained prominence as a speaker on Islam, he has been a controversial figure because of his disparaging remarks on other religions and radical views. The fatwa said Naik was a ghiar muqallidin, a term used to describe those whose teachings are not directly based on any one of the four accepted schools of Islamic thought and, was therefore, unreliable,” the report says.

It was and is high time moderate Muslims rise to show their contempt on these self styled militant and deviant Islamists who create multi faith tension in the name of Dawah.

As usual a good find by Ghulam Muhammed. Thanks.

Naik is an example of how even highly educated persons become blinded by religious prejudice and bigotry. Instead of following Prophet Muhammad's life as a model they get mesmerized by the 18th century Saudi demagogue.

High Court upholds ban on Zakir Naik’s entry in Mangaluru; Salafist organisation postpones event

A Division Bench of Karnataka high court has upheld the prohibitory order issued by Mangaluru city police commissioner S Murugan banning the entry of Dr Zakir Naik to Mangaluru between December 31 and January 6.

On Thursday, the vacation division bench of the high court comprising Justice B Manohar and Justice B Veerappa passed the order upholding the temporary ban on Dr Zakir Naik. However, it allowed South Karnataka Salafi Movement (SKSM), the host of the event, to hold the conference without inviting him.

After a week of communal tensions, the city police Commissioner S Murugan had on December 29, Tuesday, banned the entry of Naik and VHP leader Praveen Togadia into Mangaluru between December 31, 2015 and January 6, 2016.

Dr Naik was supposed to deliver a talk on the topic - “What Is Islam” at a peace conference scheduled to be organised on January 2 at Nehru Maidan in the Mangaluru.

Ismail Shafi of SKSM condemned police’s decision of cancelling Naik's visit in the last minute and termed it as “unconstitutional and insult to religion” at a press meet on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a delegation from SKSM met home minister G Parameshwara and District minister B Ramanath Rai in Bengaluru in this regard. The minister has promised them that Naik's programme will be held after two months in the same venue.

Following such an assurance SKSM has postponed the event for two months.

In several fatwas, Darul had said avoid listening to Zakir Naik

Deoband's influential Darul Uloom Islamic seminary has issued at least seven fatwas against televangelist Zakir Naik over the years, which had described him as "religiously deviated" and his talks as "unauthentic''.

"A common man may not be able to differentiate between right and wrong. Therefore, people should avoid listening to his speeches; they are feared to fall in deviation,"

The seminary called Naik "a scholar of English" who wears "coat and pants'', while saying he has no right to say these things (preaching). "Is wearing the dress of Jews and Christians established from the holy Quran?"
