Is it true that some guy called Daniel Streich, after being the proponent of the minaret ban, has now accepted Islam?

yes it is true. I read in a couple of papers (online) about this. He was a minister who converted to Islam 2-3 years back kept it secret but only now accepted it openly after the whole minaret issue became huge. He has resigned from his position if i remember correctly.
