I have never felt sad at the death of a big executive but I feel sad at the death of Steve Jobs. This should remind us of the futility of it all.

A fine quote from a twitter user

Three apples changed the world. The one that Eve presented to Adam, the one that awakened Newton and the one that was in the hands of Steve Jobs.

Steve Jobs: a family life shrouded in secrecy

He was born in February 1955 in San Francisco to unmarried parents – Joanne Schieble, a 20-year-old from Wisconsin, and Abdulfattah Jandali, 24, a Syrian graduate student – who gave up their son for adoption to a working class couple, Paul and Clara Jobs.

Jobs subsequently met his birth mother, a speech therapist, several times but never made contact with his father, Jandali, who became a political science professor before moving into the casino business in Nevada.

Reached last week at the Boomtown casino in Reno, where he is a manager, Jandali said simply that he was aware of his son’s death. In his only interview earlier this year, after Jobs had quit his job at Apple because of his health, he expressed regret that the two had never reconciled.

A new biography portrays Steve Jobs as a skeptic all his life — giving up religion because he was troubled by starving children

Although not enough to give up even half of his $8 billion wealth.

I remember Sean Connery in the movie "Entrapment" where he tells Catherine Zeta Jones - "What can you buy with $8 billion that you cannot with $1 billion?". Classic!!
