this is indeed a welcome initiative. in africa, esp. tanzania, almost 90% of bohras are addicted to supari and paan masala which contains tobacco. each and every one of them carries pan parag in tins or tobacco which they mix with chuno and stuff in their mouths. cancer of the oral cavity and throat are rampant there and several succumb to it every year. in the west, lots of 'posh' bohras smoke cigars and some even indulge in marijuana filled cigarettes, including the amtes. all this is considered 'modern' and sophisticated behaviour.

one question that arises is, why have they waited so long to issue this directive in the name of the old and dying syedna?
