Asghar Ali Engineer sahab passes away

The one and only free public forum for Bohras. The focus of this forum is the reform movement, the Dawoodi Bohra faith and, of course, the corrupt priesthood. But the discussion is in no way restricted to the Bohras alone.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un (إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ)

a great loss to whole reform movement. All sensible Bohras should mourn his death more than they will mourn for their Dai.

May Lord give his family strength during their this time of grief.

I agree with comments from Br. zinger, Orthodox bohras should refrain from abuses atleast over a dead person. Further, reformists and others should also be sensitive enough to not to drag Dai or talk about his death here. It will just end up as mud slinging match.

May Allah bless his soul and grant him easy access to Jannah. May the work he started carry on better than when he was alive. I am deeply saddened having read this news. He was a good man and an example to follow.

A great loss to MUSLIM community. We abdes disagree with him but he was known as Islamic Scholar around the Muslim World. He was known for scholarly knowledge in Muslim Countries than many of our Shezaadas. He was the voice of Muslims after the demolition of Barbri Masjid and Gujarat Riots.
May Allah grant his family Sabr and Inna Lillah Hey Wa Inna Elehi Rajeum, Innalaha Maa Us fi Saberon.

Agree.
There is a saying that Allah calls back good people earlier. Dr Engineer died at the age of 78 while Abdes are looking their Dai till Qayamat. Make your own judgments.
May Allah give him place in Jannat and Sabar to his loved ones. A great loss for the Muslim Ummah, While Kotharis were kissing Killer Modi's bottom, he was a voice to reckon with against his atrocities.

This is terrible news, and a great loss to the community, not just progressive Bohras and Muslims, but also to the larger community that strives for justice and equality for all. Although most of us did not know Dr. Engineer personally, he has influenced us in more than one way. First, by his sheer bravery in fighting an unstoppable and merciless behemoth, and second, by his numerous writings. His personal humility and simplicity was evident for all to see, and even in the face of intense persecution he maintained a saint-like calm and composure.

This news has made me very sad. May his family, friends and supporters find inspiration from his life to continue his work, and may we all follow his example and try to make our society a better place, in any small way we can.

Mr.Asghar Ali Engineer's clarity and compassion in dealing wth matters related to the harsh realities of communalism, its manifestation into communal politics, the distortion of history in school texts, partisan majoritarianism within state structures provided a guidance to one and all.

As part of the Committee of Justice for All, a People s campaign for the Tabling of the Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill 2011 he was one of its strongest votaries..

May his soul rest in peace.
