Bro freebhora,

The subject issue is not blown out of proportion nor have I posted a 'Random' picture and that too, to incite hatred. The policeman is not an Indian or Pakistani but a native of Saudi Arabia. For details kindly read the below mentioned article :-

Outrage as Saudi policeman rests shoe on Makkah’s sacred Kaaba

The Governor of Makkah has ordered a probe in the case of a policeman leaning on the Kaaba with his shoes against the wall.

Prince Mishal Bin Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz said that such an attitude could not be tolerated and called for disciplinary action against the policeman for failing to live up to the privilege and honour of serving in such a place.

In Arab culture, displaying the sole of one’s foot or touching someone, or something sacred, with a shoe or with feet is considered highly offensive.

Prince Mishal told the head of the Makkah police Abdul Aziz Al Sooli to hold dedicated workshops and training sessions to educate the security and civilian staff at the Grand Mosque on ways of behaving and of dealing with people in order to offer the best services, local news site Sabq reported on Tuesday.

Muslims often refrain from allowing their shoes to be turned upside down in order to avoid the sole from ‘facing God’. It is also customary to take off shoes before entering mosques and homes.

from the pic it seems , the poor guy had no place to stand due to the rush and hence climbed over the kaba, with support of that black rope, again I would reiterate that people including the sahabas like Bilal RA did climb the Kaba and there is nothing wrong in that .

Capturing Hijaz? Who did it and how they did it?

Al Saud were trying to capture the throne of Hijaz for last 225 years and were successful in taking control of Makkah, Madina and Taif in 1790.

25k Wahabi scholars visted India last year

A shocking report by the Intelligence Bureau suggests that last year 25000 Islamic scholars preaching the extremely ultra conservative form of Wahabi Islam had visited India. The details of the report pertaining to the year 2013 show that many of them had come in the guise of visitors on a tourist visa from 20 different countries and had participated in events in 15 states which attracted a crowd of nearly 1200000 people.

Does India need to worry about this? Very much say the experts and security agencies and if one looks at the report these scholars have managed to visit states such as Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Bihar, Maharashtra and Jharkhand. The statistics of 2013 would show a large number of such preachers visiting India, but the fact remains that these persons have been coming into India in large numbers since the year 2005. There has been a sudden surge in the visit by these hardcore who preach the harshest form of Islam which today is being practiced by groups such as the ISIS and the Taliban.

It is an indirect way to indoctrinate the youth and during their preaching they emphasis on the implementation of the Sharia law in its worst form. They speak about the importance of this law and also tell the youth that the only way to save the religion is through the implementation of this law. Surprisingly these sessions had a lot of takers and the estimated crowd that attended last year was around 12 lakh. The preachers who landed in India were mainly from Saudi Arabia where a good number of people subscribe to this ultra conservative form of Islam. Most of these preachers who came to India on a tourist visa move around in the hardcore Tablighi Jamaats who arrange for such meetings. These are all very powerful speakers and unfortunately several youth have been inspired by such talks.

Intelligence Bureau officials say that apart from the Tablighi Jamaat invitations to such scholars preaching Wahabi Islam were sent out by other organsations such as the Ahl-e-Hadis and Jamaat Nizamuddin Markaz.

If one takes a look at the interrogation report of the Indian Mujahideen operatives, they speak in great appreciation of the Wahabi form of Islam. Yasin Bhatkal himself during the report said that the idea is to implement the Sharia law and the IM was formed with this intention in mind.

Apart from the security threat emerging due to the indoctrination of some of the youth through these seminars, there is also a chance of hell breaking lose between the Muslim community too. India’s 20 crore Muslim population today has 80 per cent of them subscribing to the moderate form of Islam. However the worry is the gradual rise in the number of Muslims subscribing to the Wahabi form of Islam. Around 10 years back the number of such Muslims was around 8 to 10 per cent and today it has gone up to 20. What the security agencies fear is that on one hand some youth especially from hardcore belts such as Kerala and Bihar get attracted to these foreign preachers. On the other hand there is a good chance of India becoming a conflict zone such as Iraq between the hardcores and the moderates. The number of the hardcore is rising and needs to be stopped. For this the scrutiny process of such scholars visiting India should be enhanced. Seminars which they are part of should be looked into carefully and these indoctrination programmes should be brought under check says the Intelligence Bureau official. Further with the crisis in Iraq gaining supporters among the hardcore even in India, we need to watch out and if by any chance the same occurs in Afghanistan once the West leaves, then India will have a lot of trouble to deal with, the officer also says.

Wahabi take over of India, how they are doing it?

The conflict in Iraq has brought to the limelight a major tussle between two sects of Muslims. The ISIS has been trying to impose the most orthodox form of Islam known as Wahabism and the effects of this are being seen in several parts of the world. The Indian Muslim who subscribe to the moderate Hanafi form of Islam are caught in a cross fire as some sects who subscribe to the Wahabi form of Islam are trying to impose this faith in a big way.

In a bid to impose the Wahabi culture those who preach this faith have devised a two pronged strategy. First they preach the faith and try and convince as many people as possible and then they take over the Mosque and ensure that those who come to pray there follow this style of Islam.

According to a report of the Intelligence Bureau this problem of trying to impose the Wahabi faith in India started in the year 2010. Although there were signs of this faith trying to be imposed in a big way, the real sign of a Mosque being taken over was seen in the year 2010 at Kandivli. The neighbouring Pathanwadi area has around 1300 persons who subscribe to the Wahabi school of thought. They had virtually laid seige on the Mosque and even prevented many who visited that Mosque from entering.

Similar incidents was reported in Mosques in Lucknow, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and also Bihar. The Wahabi scholars come down to India in large numbers and last year alone as per the report of the Intelligence Bureau there were nearly 25000 of them who had come to India and 12 lakh took part in these events.

Some of the Muslims in India have complained that there is a growing influence of these Wahabis and they try their best to take over Mosques and preach this faith. The propaganda by the ISIS has only made some radicals hero worship them and they have even started believing that this faith has the biggest impact. An Intelligence Bureau official says that in Saudi Arabia there are a dedicated set of persons who travel across the world to ensure that the Wahabi culture is imposed. In many cases in India especially in the Kerala mosques there have been fights between the two sects trying to take over the Mosques. In some cases funds from Saudi Arabia have been pumped in to bribe some persons in the Mosque who for the lure of money hand over control of the Mosque to Wahabi followers. Take for instance the case of one Mosque in Nagpur. This mosque was in a bad shape and needed immediate renovation. The Mosque administration was in no position to repair the same for want of funds. This was when the Wahabis sprung into action and repaired the entire Mosque and this helped them gain control over the same.

While on one hand there is a tussle to take control over the Mosque on the other Saudi preachers have tried taking control over the Madrasas as well. This is a worrying sign say the security agencies as these are schools and they would not want the youngsters learning this form of Islam which is very radical in nature. Today there are over 50000 Madrasas and several are under the control of the Wahabis and we hope the Muslim community in India views this seriously and ensures that they regain control over the same, the officer also points out.

One Wahabi follower from Kerala who did not want to be named said that the other Muslims are making a big deal of this. We are only trying to preach the real Islam and according to the religion worshiping of Sufi shrines are not permitted. I do not understand why they are resisting the real form of Islam.

According to S Q R Ilyas a member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, there is a growing influence of Wahabis in India. It is sad to see this and the moderate Muslim in India does not subscribe to this form of Islam which is very radical by nature. It is unfortunate that there are funds being pumped in from Saudi Arabia to ensure that the Wahabi culture spreads. However I do not see it taking over the Muslims in India as 90 per cent are opposed to this.

Meanwhile sensing the growing influence of Wahabi culture in India, several Mosques in India have made it compulsory to preach about the ill effects of this form of Islam. Every Friday there is a sermon in the Mosques speaking about the barbaric manner in which the ISIS is functioning. The Maulvis also tell the people that a group which continues blood shed during the holy month of Ramazan is anti Islamic and also declaring a caliphat without the approval of the Muslims is just not right.

This article is defaming a large chunk of Muslims , which includes Darul Deoband, Jamate Islami etc . They are the most peaceful Muslims I saw esp Ahle Hdith they dont interfere in politics too. It is the barelvi sect which worships sufi shrines which is violent and the recent azad maidan attack \riot in Mumbai was done by barelvis type people who goto dargahs. Also these dargah goers behave like RSS\SHIV SENA thugs in the festivals like milad nabee and cause a lot of trouble to civilian population. Maulana Abdul Kalam azad ,Sir Syed all were “Wahhabi” Muslims whereas “Telgi” , “dawood ibrahim”, “shakeel” etc were all dargah\shrine worshipping people of barelvi sect. Most of the Muslims in India are backward and the backward class comprised of these “grave worshipping” people.

Attack on Gaza by Saudi Royal Appointment

The attack on Gaza comes by Saudi Royal Appointment. This royal warrant is nothing less than an open secret in Israel, and both former and serving defense officials are relaxed when they talk about it. Former Israeli defense minister Shaul Mofaz surprised the presenter on Channel 10 by saying Israel had to specify a role for Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in the demilitarization of Hamas. Asked what he meant by that, he added that Saudi and Emirati funds should be used to rebuild Gaza after Hamas had been defanged.

"Everything is underground, nothing is public. But our security cooperation with Egypt and the Gulf states is unique. This is the best period of security and diplomatic relations with the Arab."

The celebration is mutual. King Abdullah let it be known that he had phoned President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to approve of an Egyptian ceasefire initiative which had not been put to Hamas, and had the Jerusalem Post quoting analysts about whether a ceasefire was ever seriously intended.

Mossad and Saudi intelligence officials meet regularly: The two sides conferred when the former Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi was about to be deposed in Egypt and they are hand in glove on Iran, both in preparing for an Israel strike over Saudi airspace and in sabotaging the existing nuclear program. There has even been a well sourced claim that the Saudis are financing most of Israel's very expensive campaign against Iran.

Why do Saudi Arabia and Israel make such comfortable bedfellows? For decades each country has had a similar feeling in their gut when they look around them: fear. Their reaction was similar. Each felt they could only insure themselves against their neighbors by invading them (Lebanon, Yemen) or by funding proxy wars and coups (Syria, Egypt, Libya). They have enemies or rivals in common - Iran, Turkey, Qatar, Hamas in Gaza, and the Muslim Brotherhood. And they have common allies, too - the US and British military industrial establishments, Fatah strongman and US asset Mohammed Dahlan who tried to take over Gaza once, and will probably be at hand when next required.

The difference today is that for the first time in their two countries' history, there is open co-ordination between the two military powers. Abdullah's nephew Prince Turki has been the public face of this rapprochement, which was first signaled by the Saudi publication of a book by an Israeli academic. The prince flew to Brussels in May to meet General Amos Yadlin, the former intelligence chief who has been indicted by a court in Turkey for his role in the storming of the Mavi Marmara.

The well connected Saudi analyst Jamal Khashogji made this very point when he talked in coded language about the number of intellectuals who attack the notion of resistance:

Regrettably, the number of such intellectuals here in Saudi Arabia is higher than average. If such a trend continues it will destroy the kingdom's honorable claim to support and defend the Palestinian cause since the time of its founder, King Abd Al-Aziz Al-Saud.

Peace would indeed be welcome to everyone, not least Gaza at the moment. The means by which Israel's allies in Saudi Arabia and Egypt are going about achieving it, by encouraging Israel to deal Hamas a crippling blow, calls into question what is really going on here. Turki's father King Faisal bin Abdulaziz would be turning in his grave at what the son is putting his name to.

This Saudi Israeli alliance is forged in blood, Palestinian blood, the blood on Sunday of over 100 souls in Shejaiya.

Saudis Must Stop Exporting Extremism

ISIS Atrocities Started With Saudi Support for Salafi Hate

ALONG with a billion Muslims across the globe, I turn to Mecca in Saudi Arabia every day to say my prayers. But when I visit the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, the resting place of the Prophet Muhammad, I am forced to leave overwhelmed with anguish at the power of extremism running amok in Islam’s birthplace. Non-Muslims are forbidden to enter this part of the kingdom, so there is no international scrutiny of the ideas and practices that affect the 13 million Muslims who visit each year.

Last week, Saudi Arabia donated $100 million to the United Nations to fund a counterterrorism agency. This was a welcome contribution, but last year, Saudi Arabia rejected a rotating seat on the United Nations Security Council. This half-in, half-out posture of the Saudi kingdom is a reflection of its inner paralysis in dealing with Sunni Islamist radicalism: It wants to stop violence, but will not address the Salafism that helps justify it.

Let’s be clear: Al Qaeda, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, Boko Haram, the Shabab and others are all violent Sunni Salafi groupings. For five decades, Saudi Arabia has been the official sponsor of Sunni Salafism across the globe.

Most Sunni Muslims around the world, approximately 90 percent of the Muslim population, are not Salafis. Salafism is seen as too rigid, too literalist, too detached from mainstream Islam. While Shiite and other denominations account for 10 percent of the total, Salafi adherents and other fundamentalists represent 3 percent of the world’s Muslims.

Unlike a majority of Sunnis, Salafis are evangelicals who wish to convert Muslims and others to their “purer” form of Islam — unpolluted, as they see it, by modernity. In this effort, they have been lavishly supported by the Saudi government, which has appointed emissaries to its embassies in Muslim countries who proselytize for Salafism. The kingdom also grants compliant imams V.I.P. access for the annual hajj, and bankrolls ultraconservative Islamic organizations like the Muslim World League and World Assembly of Muslim Youth.

After 9/11, under American pressure, much of this global financial support dried up, but the bastion of Salafism remains strong in the kingdom, enforcing the hard-line application of outdated Shariah punishments long abandoned by a majority of Muslims. Just since Aug. 4, 19 people have been beheaded in Saudi Arabia, nearly half for nonviolent crimes.

We are rightly outraged at the beheading of James Foley by Islamist militants, and by ISIS’ other atrocities, but we overlook the public executions by beheading permitted by Saudi Arabia. By licensing such barbarity, the kingdom normalizes and indirectly encourages such punishments elsewhere. When the country that does so is the birthplace of Islam, that message resonates.

I lived in Saudi Arabia’s most liberal city, Jidda, in 2005. That year, in an effort to open closed Saudi Salafi minds, King Abdullah supported dialogue with people of other religions. In my mosque, the cleric used his Friday Prayer sermon to prohibit such dialogue on grounds that it put Islam on a par with “false religions.” It was a slippery slope to freedom, democracy and gender equality, he argued — corrupt practices of the infidel West.

This tension between the king and Salafi clerics is at the heart of Saudi Arabia’s inability to reform. The king is a modernizer, but he and his advisers do not wish to disturb the 270-year-old tribal pact between the House of Saud and the founder of Wahhabism (an austere form of Islam close to Salafism). That 1744 desert treaty must now be nullified.

The influence that clerics wield is unrivaled. Even Saudis’ Twitter heroes are religious figures: An extremist cleric like Muhammad al-Arifi, who was banned last year from the European Union for advocating wife-beating and hatred of Jews, commands a following of 9. 4 million. The kingdom is also patrolled by a religious police force that enforces the veil for women, prohibits young lovers from meeting and ensures that shops do not display “indecent” magazine covers. In the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, the religious police beat women with sticks if they stray into male-only areas, or if their dress is considered immodest by Salafi standards. This is not an Islam that the Prophet Muhammad would recognize.

Salafi intolerance has led to the destruction of Islamic heritage in Mecca and Medina. If ISIS is detonating shrines, it learned to do so from the precedent set in 1925 by the House of Saud with the Wahhabi-inspired demolition of 1,400-year-old tombs in the Jannat Al Baqi cemetery in Medina. In the last two years, violent Salafis have carried out similar sectarian vandalism, blowing up shrines from Libya to Pakistan, from Mali to Iraq. Fighters from Hezbollah have even entered Syria to protect holy sites.

Textbooks in Saudi Arabia’s schools and universities teach this brand of Islam. The University of Medina recruits students from around the world, trains them in the bigotry of Salafism and sends them to Muslim communities in places like the Balkans, Africa, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Egypt, where these Saudi-trained hard-liners work to eradicate the local, harmonious forms of Islam.

What is religious extremism but this aim to apply Shariah as state law? This is exactly what ISIS (Islamic State) is attempting do with its caliphate. Unless we challenge this un-Islamic, impractical and flawed concept of trying to govern by a rigid interpretation of Shariah, no amount of work by a United Nations agency can unravel Islamist terrorism.

Saudi Arabia created the monster that is Salafi terrorism. It cannot now outsource the slaying of this beast to the United Nations. It must address the theological and ideological roots of extremism at home, starting in Mecca and Medina. Reforming the home of Islam would be a giant step toward winning against extremism in this global battle of ideas.

Wahhabism in South Asia

By Maj Gen Afsir Karim

A few decades ago, a few Muslims followed this brand of Islam in South Asia, but after the advent of al-Qaeda, Wahhabism spread and Militant Islamist groups spread the theology of Wahhabism, which justified severe punishments, such as beheading and stoning to death of people who did not strictly follow the Sharia. The Wahhabis operating in South Asia advocate ban on music, a prominent attribute of the subcontinent’s Sufi Islam. They want all Muslims to observe prayer rituals introduced by them.

Saudi Arabia pumps millions of petrodollars into the madrasas and mosques of the subcontinent to propagate the Wahhabi theology; this helps the Taliban in Afghanistan and the separatist movement of Kashmir financially directly and indirectly. The growing conflict between the Shia and Sunni sects across the world is a direct result of the increasing influence of Wahhabism.

The signatures of fundamentalist Islam are clearly visible in many parts of Bangladesh, despite the crackdown on fundamentalist groups by the Awami League government. Violence has been increasing against women and the secular sections of the society in the name of religion. Several bomb attacks have taken many innocent lives, revealing plans to create violence and disorder in the society.

The JEI, the main Islamic political party in Bangladesh, aims to convert Bangladesh into an Islamic state. It is not only against democracy but also against all modern thought and culture, and it advocates violence against those who oppose radical Islamic laws. The JEI operates with the help of a vast network of madrasas in Bangladesh, which provide it recruits from backward and poor segments of the population.

The Jama’at ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), another major Islamist group that shares the ideology of the JEI, is largely responsible for spreading violence and the fundamentalist ideology in Bangladesh. The JMB is reported to have strong influence amongst the teachers and students of some 25,000 madrasas. The militants and activists from this group, along with the JEI, have been cooperating with al-Qaeda in the past.

The Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS), the student wing of the Jamaat-e- Islami Bangladesh, is one of the largest Islamist student organisations in South Asia. It is a highly active extremist group that maintains a close liaison with fundamentalist groups operating in several Islamic countries; it is an active member of the International Islamic Federation of Student Organisation (IIFSO) and the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY).

The Hifazat e Islam of Bangladesh, which is a strong advocate of Wahhabi Islam, is led by the Deoband-trained Ahmad Shafi, who is also the chairman of the Bangladesh Qaumi Madrassah Education Board, an apex body that oversees the functioning of madrasas across the country. Hifazat, a strong supporter of the Wahhabi movement, could create problems for the secular groups. Hifazat’s 13-point agenda demands imposition of strict Sharia laws in the country and punishment for all the leaders of the Shabaag movement who have been calling for a more secular society. Other demands include death for blasphemy against Islam and the execution of Internet bloggers and others who insult Prophet Muhammad. Hifazat calls for women’s development programs to be cancelled, and it is demanding laws against, what it deems to be, “shameless behavior and dresses” and mixing of men and women in public. Hifazat also wants rules against erecting statues in public places. The Hifazat e Islam has a strong support base in the country’s 25,000 madrasas.

The Harkat ul Jihade al Islami (HuJI) declares, “We would all be Taliban, and Bangladesh would be Afghanistan,”—another example of growth of fundamentalism in Bangladesh. Conservative groups, such as the Ahle-Hadith, the Allahr Dal, the Hizb-ut-Tahrir and the Hizb-ul-Mujahidin, continue to promote rigid religious belief systems based on the Wahhabi interpretation of Islamic laws. Religious fundamentalism is being sponsored by powerful Islamic institutions both within and outside the country but there is considerable opposition against them from secular and moderate groups.

PAKISTAN

In local mosques all over Punjab, seminary students are being invited by the local clerics to enter into real Islam by embracing Wahhabism. They are taught that anyone outside the Wahhabi sect is a heretic and will burn in hell. For many decades now, generations of students with this mindset have been emerging from madrasas whose curriculum is designed to encourage intolerance and violence. The Wahhabi culture has generated internecine conflicts and terrorism in Pakistan, helped by various radical organisations and fundamentalist groups in Pakistan.

The emir of JEI, Maulana Munawar Hassan, once openly declared that Pakistani soldiers should not be considered martyrs because they are supporting the infidel forces. This evoked a sharp response and a demand for the ban of the JEI by the army but caused no ripples in the civil society, because Maulana Munawar Hassan was reflecting a common sentiment prevailing in Pakistan.

Discussions on Pakistani television channels indicate that a large number of educated Pakistani citizens and intellectuals support the Taliban and al-Qaeda and some even justify their acts of terror. Maulana Sami ul Haq, the rector of the government-supported seminary Darul Uloom Jamia Haqqania; the Jaish-e-Muhammad’s weekly Akhbar ul Qalam; and the popular weekly Zarb-e-Momin, of a religious welfare organisation Al- Rasheed Trust, agree that the supporters of the U.S. and NATO troops are kafirs (infidel) and mulhid (heretic) and that their killing by jihadi groups of Pakistan is justified.

By terming the terrorist attacks as a natural “reaction,” most politicians, media commentators and religious leaders justify terrorist attacks in Pakistan rather than condemning them. Glaring examples of prominent citizens who are encouraging this mindset are former military leaders like General Mirza Aslam Beg and General Hameed Gul, who are popular because of their fiery speeches.

All Pakistani terrorist organisations, be it the Lashkar-e-Taiba, the Jaish-e-Mohammad, the Sipah-e-Sahaba, the Lashkar-e-Janghwi, the Harkat ul Jihad al-Islami or the Harkat ul Mujahideen, engaged in terrorism enjoy open support of thousands of people and tacit support of military and political leaders and Ulemas. The Muslim League, the ruling party of Nawaz Sharif, supports the religious seminaries Jamia Haqqania Akora Khatak, Jamia Rashidia Karachi and Jamia Usman-o-Ali Bahawalpur, which have been working with al-Qaeda and the Taliban and supporting Punjab terror outfits. The Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf, which is considered a liberal party, also has members who were involved in sectarian wars and terrorist incidents in the past.

Osama Bin Laden is hero-worshipped; many books have been published paying rich tribute to him for carrying on the jihadist movement and services he rendered to Pakistan. Hamid Kamaluddin, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed’s brother and the administrator of the organisation Idara-e-Iqaz, published a book titled Shaheed-e-Millat (martyr of Islamic community), which carried around a hundred articles presenting Bin Laden as the greatest hero of the Muslim world.

Millions of students in religious institutions and seminaries spread across the country, from Karachi to Khyber, are being taught that Osama Bin Laden was a martyr of Islam who preferred living in caves for the glory of Islam. The same kind of high status is being accorded to Mullah Omar because he has severely mauled the infidels. Many heroic tales are being attributed to Pakistani Taliban and other sectarian groups who in fact have been devastating Pakistan.

There is widespread propaganda by religious groups that Hindu infidels are enemies of Islam and must be punished and attacked. All Hindus, Christians and Jews are perceived as enemies of Islam, and most Pakistanis today accept the ideology of waging a holy war against infidels. The Taliban emir, Mullah Fazl ur Rahman, once declared that even a dog killed by American troops should be considered a martyr.

Some leaders and political parties in Pakistan who want the nation to get out of this narrow mindset have been totally sidelined. In fact, liberal political groups have to pay large amounts to various radical groups to survive. In these environments, it is not possible to curb the growth of Wahhabism in Pakistan and the danger it poses to the countries of south Asia.

INDIA

The Wahhabi organisations in India have created a network in the country to spread their brand of Islam among the Muslims. They have developed sophisticated methods of indoctrination and recruitment of the youth. They are operating at grass roots in madrasas and local mosques to spread their message to the youth directly.

According a report, an “Imam” belonging to the Ahle-Hadith sect, addressing a congregation after Friday prayers at a local mosque, proclaimed: “What is the purpose of a Muslim’s life? Is it . . . to sing and dance like the Mushriks? No, my dear brothers this is not what we have been created for. Our duty is to guide people towards the ‘Siratal Mustakeem’ (straight path). Muslims are in a sad state of affairs because we are following the devil; just as these Mushriks- Hindus- take out processions with songs and high-pitched musical bands, we are also doing the same thing in Muharram and on our Prophet’s birthday.” This sermon was obviously a Wahhabi message passed on to mosques in small towns.

Al-Qaeda and ideologues of other radical groups based in Pakistan have been regularly urging several Muslims religious organisations in India, mainly via the Internet, to join the global jihad and take up arms against the Indian state. Such attempts, over the years, have grown in their intensity and sophistication, enabling jihadi organisations in India to enlist a sizeable number of Muslim youth.

The polarisation of the social environment in the aftermath of the demolition of Babri Masjid, in 1992, weakened the long-standing traditions of Sufi Islam in India, but the Muslim community still instinctively shuns the rigid code of conduct and practices advocated by the Wahhabis. However, radical ideologues of a few revivalist schools are approaching youths in colleges and schools to join the Wahhabi sect. Apprehensions of the Muslim community after the communal riots in Mumbai and Gujarat led many into the Wahhabi fold.

Wahhabi front organisations are advocating child marriage, demanding stopping of girls’ education and influencing Muslim families to follow Sharia laws as advocated by them. These groups, while trying to impose a strict Sharia code of conduct in Muslim households, are also trying to change cultural norms. For example, they are pressurising Muslims to use “Allah,” as opposed to the traditional “Khuda,” used by Indian Muslims in common parlance, since “Allah” is an Arabic word while “Khuda” is a Persian word for God. The regressive activities of Tablighi Jamaat and Ahle-Hadith in several parts of India and the attacks on dargahs and Sufi shrines in Kashmir are a part of the Wahhabi campaign against Sufi Islam.

In 2001, Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) had declared that the time had come for Indian Muslims to launch an armed jihad to establish an Islamic caliphate. Posters issued by SIMI following the demolition of the Babri Masjid had declared, “Ya Ilahi, bhej de Mahmood koi (Oh Allah, send us a Mahmud),” – an ill-advised reference to the conqueror Mahmud of Ghazni.

The impact of hard-line religious organisations, such as Tablighi Jamaat, Ahle-Hadith, the Gujarat Muslim Revenge Force, the Muslim Defence Force and the Islamic Defence Force, on Indian Muslims has been minimal so far, but the danger of increase of their influence cannot be ruled out. The eminent anthropologist Irfan Ahmad noted in one of his papers on SIMI: “The formation of such illegal groups by a segment of Muslim population also points towards an affinity between the geography of riots and cartography of Islamist radicalism. Over 15% or 20% of SIMI’s members came from Maharashtra, Gujarat and U.P., States where the masculine, virulent Hindutva has far more impact, and which have a history of the worse riots in the past two decades.” It is absolutely necessary for the government to intervene positively to address the problems of communalism in these areas.

Sacred & scarred

Believers beware! Here’s a book which read you must. But be sure to tighten your seat belts, keep your air sickness bags handy. For the journey you must embark on — its destination Mecca, after all — is bumpy, full of nasty air-pockets, treacherous, often nauseous.

Also be prepared for landing with a rude jolt, seriously “jet-lagged”. With Ziauddin Sardar in the pilot’s seat, expect the path less travelled.

Mecca is the ultimate destination for the followers of Islam, a religion that stands on five pillars. Haj is one of them: a once in a life time pilgrimage to Mecca, if you can afford it. Not all Muslims can. But for all believers it remains the most cherished dream, the longed-for ultimate destination.

Wherever on earth they may be, Muslims must face the Kaaba (in Mecca) for namaaz, five times daily. To commune with Allah, you orient yourself to his Abode. Mecca is the Muslims’ moral compass. As for actually being in the holy city, that’s pure bliss!

But in Sardar’s book, Mecca: The Sacred City, the Happy, Holy Haj is only the take-off point. The rest is not about Mecca, the sacred metaphor. It’s about the profanities of the people of Mecca and Arabia, past and present.

Mecca was a place of pilgrimage, haj, for pagan Arabs even before the birth of Islam. For the clans who managed and controlled the holy place, piety and profit went hand-in-hand. Mecca was prosperous but the class divide was sharp. Islam’s message of radical, egalitarian social reform enjoining fair treatment of slaves, orphans, women and the poor, appealed mostly to the city’s “wretched of the earth”. But it was greeted with such hostility by the elite that the Prophet had to migrate to Yathrib (renamed Medina) with his small band of followers.

Eight years later, he made a bloodless but triumphant return to Mecca as the head of a large army of the faithful. Kaaba’s status as the “Abode of Allah” was restored, most residents of the city, including the worst enemies of the Prophet, converted to Islam. Immediately thereafter, Prophet Mohammad went right back to Medina, “not just the capital but the cultural and intellectual centre of the emerging Muslim state”

Two years later, Prophet Mohammad made his first and last pilgrimage to Mecca. There, in his famous last sermon, among other things, the Prophet told the assembly: “O people… All mankind is from Adam and Eve. An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor does a non-Arab have any superiority over an Arab; a white has no superiority over a black, nor does a black have any superiority over a white; (none have superiority over another) except by piety and good action… You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity…”

Soon thereafter, the Prophet breathed his last. Sadly, his message of inclusiveness, equality, fraternity, tolerance was lost on the Muslim elite of Mecca and Arabia.

Over the centuries Mecca did see good days. But in between there were indignities and atrocities aplenty: Muslims looting Muslims, political intrigue, sectarian violence, mutual slaughter, in and around Mecca, even inside the compound of the Kaaba.

Then there was, and is, the supremacism of the Meccan and Arabs. For over a thousand years of Islamic history, caliph after caliph’s claim to fame lay in tracing his lineage to the Quraish of Mecca, if not blood ties to the family of the Prophet himself. Arabia is the only country in the world that is named after a particular tribe, the Saud. To the people of Saudi Arabia, Arabs were and are superior to non-Arabs; blacks are right at the bottom of the ladder. Saudi Arabia was among the last countries in the world to ban slavery. Even today “Mecca is a place riddled with racism, bigotry and xenophobia,” Sardar observes.

The supremacism is intriguing. Never in the entire history of Islam was Mecca the capital for any caliph. (The Prophet himself preferred Medina.). In the “Golden Age” of Islam, its seats of power were Baghdad, Damascus, Cairo, Cordoba, Granada; anywhere but Mecca.

In consequence, “The great ideas and achievements, science and learning, art and culture, of Muslim civilization were seldom embraced in Mecca… When it came to ideas, Meccan scholars tended to be conservative, and their influence, such as it was, operated to constrain and denounce, rather than motivate intellectual and cultural endeavours”.

What’s more, the rot had set in early, “It was the first generation of Muslims, known as the ‘Companions of the Prophet’, who started the internecine conflict over the meaning, interpretation and implementation of religion. It was these same companions who initiated the power struggles for control of what in short order became an imperialist project. How benign can an empire be?” To many Muslims this might seem close to blasphemy. Go tell that to Ziauddin Sardar.

Perhaps the mutually beneficial late-18th-century pact between the fanatical Muhammed ibn Abd al-Wahhab and the uncouth Saud tribe was only a logical culmination of the Meccan’s long-standing hostility to rational thought. In a society hostile to all knowledge and wisdom except the wily realisation of the relationship between piety, profit and power, what else might one expect but a crass consumerist culture infested with “abominable ideologies” preaching “indiscriminate slaughter”.

In an orgy of Wahhabism’s manic monotheism, all traces of Islam’s heritage in the place of its birth have been ruthlessly erased through the decades. Over the grave in Mecca of the first wife of the Prophet, Khadija bint Khuwaylid, there are toilets now. “Apart from the Kaaba and the Sacred Mosque… there are no monuments, no relics, no culture, no art, and no architecture worthy of the name”.

In his closing chapter Sardar predicts: “It seems only a matter of time before the house where the Prophet Mohammed was born (in Mecca) is razed to the ground and turned, probably, into a car park.”

Newspapers reported last week that a Saudi scholar has suggested the demolition of the tomb of the Prophet in the al-Masjid al-Nabawi mosque in Medina and the removal of his remains to an unmarked spot in a nearby cemetery. If the tomb in Medina is dug up, the house where the Prophet was born will soon follow. Oh, Mecca!

THE SAUDI DUALITY

Saudi Arabia's internal discord and tensions over ISIS can only be understood by grasping the inherent (and persisting) duality that lies at the core of the Kingdom's doctrinal makeup and its historical origins.

One dominant strand to the Saudi identity pertains directly to Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhab (the founder of Wahhabism), and the use to which his radical, exclusionist puritanism was put by Ibn Saud. (The latter was then no more than a minor leader -- amongst many -- of continually sparring and raiding Bedouin tribes in the baking and desperately poor deserts of the Nejd.)

The second strand to this perplexing duality, relates precisely to King Abd-al Aziz's subsequent shift towards statehood in the 1920s: his curbing of Ikhwani violence (in order to have diplomatic standing as a nation-state with Britain and America); his institutionalization of the original Wahhabist impulse -- and the subsequent seizing of the opportunely surging petrodollar spigot in the 1970s, to channel the volatile Ikhwani current away from home towards export -- by diffusing a cultural revolution, rather than violent revolution throughout the Muslim world.

But this "cultural revolution" was no docile reformism. It was a revolution based on Abd al-Wahhab's Jacobin-like hatred for the putrescence and deviationism that he perceived all about him -- hence his call to purge Islam of all its heresies and idolatries.

MUSLIM IMPOSTORS

The American author and journalist, Steven Coll, has written how this austere and censorious disciple of the 14th century scholar Ibn Taymiyyah, Abd al-Wahhab, despised "the decorous, arty, tobacco smoking, hashish imbibing, drum pounding Egyptian and Ottoman nobility who travelled across Arabia to pray at Mecca."

In Abd al-Wahhab's view, these were not Muslims; they were imposters masquerading as Muslims. Nor, indeed, did he find the behavior of local Bedouin Arabs much better. They aggravated Abd al-Wahhab by their honoring of saints, by their erecting of tombstones, and their "superstition" (e.g. revering graves or places that were deemed particularly imbued with the divine).

All this behavior, Abd al-Wahhab denounced as bida -- forbidden by God.

Like Taymiyyah before him, Abd al-Wahhab believed that the period of the Prophet Muhammad's stay in Medina was the ideal of Muslim society (the "best of times"), to which all Muslims should aspire to emulate (this, essentially, is Salafism).

Taymiyyah had declared war on Shi'ism, Sufism and Greek philosophy. He spoke out, too against visiting the grave of the prophet and the celebration of his birthday, declaring that all such behavior represented mere imitation of the Christian worship of Jesus as God (i.e. idolatry). Abd al-Wahhab assimilated all this earlier teaching, stating that "any doubt or hesitation" on the part of a believer in respect to his or her acknowledging this particular interpretation of Islam should "deprive a man of immunity of his property and his life."

One of the main tenets of Abd al-Wahhab's doctrine has become the key idea of takfir. Under the takfiri doctrine, Abd al-Wahhab and his followers could deem fellow Muslims infidels should they engage in activities that in any way could be said to encroach on the sovereignty of the absolute Authority (that is, the King). Abd al-Wahhab denounced all Muslims who honored the dead, saints, or angels. He held that such sentiments detracted from the complete subservience one must feel towards God, and only God. Wahhabi Islam thus bans any prayer to saints and dead loved ones, pilgrimages to tombs and special mosques, religious festivals celebrating saints, the honoring of the Muslim Prophet Muhammad's birthday, and even prohibits the use of gravestones when burying the dead.

"Those who would not conform to this view should be killed, their wives and daughters violated, and their possessions confiscated, he wrote. "

Abd al-Wahhab demanded conformity -- a conformity that was to be demonstrated in physical and tangible ways. He argued that all Muslims must individually pledge their allegiance to a single Muslim leader (a Caliph, if there were one). Those who would not conform to this view should be killed, their wives and daughters violated, and their possessions confiscated, he wrote. The list of apostates meriting death included the Shiite, Sufis and other Muslim denominations, whom Abd al-Wahhab did not consider to be Muslim at all.

There is nothing here that separates Wahhabism from ISIS. The rift would emerge only later: from the subsequent institutionalization of Muhammad ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhab's doctrine of "One Ruler, One Authority, One Mosque" -- these three pillars being taken respectively to refer to the Saudi king, the absolute authority of official Wahhabism, and its control of "the word" (i.e. the mosque).

It is this rift -- the ISIS denial of these three pillars on which the whole of Sunni authority presently rests -- makes ISIS, which in all other respects conforms to Wahhabism, a deep threat to Saudi Arabia.

BRIEF HISTORY 1741- 1818

Abd al-Wahhab's advocacy of these ultra radical views inevitably led to his expulsion from his own town -- and in 1741, after some wanderings, he found refuge under the protection of Ibn Saud and his tribe. What Ibn Saud perceived in Abd al-Wahhab's novel teaching was the means to overturn Arab tradition and convention. It was a path to seizing power.

"Their strategy -- like that of ISIS today -- was to bring the peoples whom they conquered into submission. They aimed to instill fear. "

Ibn Saud's clan, seizing on Abd al-Wahhab's doctrine, now could do what they always did, which was raiding neighboring villages and robbing them of their possessions. Only now they were doing it not within the ambit of Arab tradition, but rather under the banner of jihad. Ibn Saud and Abd al-Wahhab also reintroduced the idea of martyrdom in the name of jihad, as it granted those martyred immediate entry into paradise.

In the beginning, they conquered a few local communities and imposed their rule over them. (The conquered inhabitants were given a limited choice: conversion to Wahhabism or death.) By 1790, the Alliance controlled most of the Arabian Peninsula and repeatedly raided Medina, Syria and Iraq.

Their strategy -- like that of ISIS today -- was to bring the peoples whom they conquered into submission. They aimed to instill fear. In 1801, the Allies attacked the Holy City of Karbala in Iraq. They massacred thousands of Shiites, including women and children. Many Shiite shrines were destroyed, including the shrine of Imam Hussein, the murdered grandson of Prophet Muhammad.

A British official, Lieutenant Francis Warden, observing the situation at the time, wrote: "They pillaged the whole of it [Karbala], and plundered the Tomb of Hussein... slaying in the course of the day, with circumstances of peculiar cruelty, above five thousand of the inhabitants ..."

Osman Ibn Bishr Najdi, the historian of the first Saudi state, wrote that Ibn Saud committed a massacre in Karbala in 1801. He proudly documented that massacre saying, "we took Karbala and slaughtered and took its people (as slaves), then praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and we do not apologize for that and say: 'And to the unbelievers: the same treatment.'"

In 1803, Abdul Aziz then entered the Holy City of Mecca, which surrendered under the impact of terror and panic (the same fate was to befall Medina, too). Abd al-Wahhab's followers demolished historical monuments and all the tombs and shrines in their midst. By the end, they had destroyed centuries of Islamic architecture near the Grand Mosque.

But in November of 1803, a Shiite assassin killed King Abdul Aziz (taking revenge for the massacre at Karbala). His son, Saud bin Abd al Aziz, succeeded him and continued the conquest of Arabia. Ottoman rulers, however, could no longer just sit back and watch as their empire was devoured piece by piece. In 1812, the Ottoman army, composed of Egyptians, pushed the Alliance out from Medina, Jeddah and Mecca. In 1814, Saud bin Abd al Aziz died of fever. His unfortunate son Abdullah bin Saud, however, was taken by the Ottomans to Istanbul, where he was gruesomely executed (a visitor to Istanbul reported seeing him having been humiliated in the streets of Istanbul for three days, then hanged and beheaded, his severed head fired from a canon, and his heart cut out and impaled on his body).

In 1815, Wahhabi forces were crushed by the Egyptians (acting on the Ottoman's behalf) in a decisive battle. In 1818, the Ottomans captured and destroyed the Wahhabi capital of Dariyah. The first Saudi state was no more. The few remaining Wahhabis withdrew into the desert to regroup, and there they remained, quiescent for most of the 19th century.

HISTORY RETURNS WITH ISIS

It is not hard to understand how the founding of the Islamic State by ISIS in contemporary Iraq might resonate amongst those who recall this history. Indeed, the ethos of 18th century Wahhabism did not just wither in Nejd, but it roared back into life when the Ottoman Empire collapsed amongst the chaos of World War I.

The Al Saud -- in this 20th century renaissance -- were led by the laconic and politically astute Abd-al Aziz, who, on uniting the fractious Bedouin tribes, launched the Saudi "Ikhwan" in the spirit of Abd-al Wahhab's and Ibn Saud's earlier fighting proselytisers.

The Ikhwan was a reincarnation of the early, fierce, semi-independent vanguard movement of committed armed Wahhabist "moralists" who almost had succeeded in seizing Arabia by the early 1800s. In the same manner as earlier, the Ikhwan again succeeded in capturing Mecca, Medina and Jeddah between 1914 and 1926. Abd-al Aziz, however, began to feel his wider interests to be threatened by the revolutionary "Jacobinism" exhibited by the Ikhwan. The Ikhwan revolted -- leading to a civil war that lasted until the 1930s, when the King had them put down: he machine-gunned them.

For this king, (Abd-al Aziz), the simple verities of previous decades were eroding. Oil was being discovered in the peninsular. Britain and America were courting Abd-al Aziz, but still were inclined to support Sharif Husain as the only legitimate ruler of Arabia. The Saudis needed to develop a more sophisticated diplomatic posture.

So Wahhabism was forcefully changed from a movement of revolutionary jihad and theological takfiri purification, to a movement of conservative social, political, theological, and religious da'wa (Islamic call) and to justifying the institution that upholds loyalty to the royal Saudi family and the King's absolute power.

OIL WEALTH SPREAD WAHHABISM

With the advent of the oil bonanza -- as the French scholar, Giles Kepel writes, Saudi goals were to "reach out and spread Wahhabism across the Muslim world ... to "Wahhabise" Islam, thereby reducing the "multitude of voices within the religion" to a "single creed" -- a movement which would transcend national divisions. Billions of dollars were -- and continue to be -- invested in this manifestation of soft power.

It was this heady mix of billion dollar soft power projection -- and the Saudi willingness to manage Sunni Islam both to further America's interests, as it concomitantly embedded Wahhabism educationally, socially and culturally throughout the lands of Islam -- that brought into being a western policy dependency on Saudi Arabia, a dependency that has endured since Abd-al Aziz's meeting with Roosevelt on a U.S. warship (returning the president from the Yalta Conference) until today.

Westerners looked at the Kingdom and their gaze was taken by the wealth; by the apparent modernization; by the professed leadership of the Islamic world. They chose to presume that the Kingdom was bending to the imperatives of modern life -- and that the management of Sunni Islam would bend the Kingdom, too, to modern life.

"On the one hand, ISIS is deeply Wahhabist. On the other hand, it is ultra radical in a different way. It could be seen essentially as a corrective movement to contemporary Wahhabism."

But the Saudi Ikhwan approach to Islam did not die in the 1930s. It retreated, but it maintained its hold over parts of the system -- hence the duality that we observe today in the Saudi attitude towards ISIS.

ISIS is a "post-Medina" movement: it looks to the actions of the first two Caliphs, rather than the Prophet Muhammad himself, as a source of emulation, and it forcefully denies the Saudis' claim of authority to rule.

As the Saudi monarchy blossomed in the oil age into an ever more inflated institution, the appeal of the Ikhwan message gained ground (despite King Faisal's modernization campaign). The "Ikhwan approach" enjoyed -- and still enjoys -- the support of many prominent men and women and sheikhs. In a sense, Osama bin Laden was precisely the representative of a late flowering of this Ikhwani approach.

Today, ISIS' undermining of the legitimacy of the King's legitimacy is not seen to be problematic, but rather a return to the true origins of the Saudi-Wahhab project.

In the collaborative management of the region by the Saudis and the West in pursuit of the many western projects (countering socialism, Ba'athism, Nasserism, Soviet and Iranian influence), western politicians have highlighted their chosen reading of Saudi Arabia (wealth, modernization and influence), but they chose to ignore the Wahhabist impulse.

After all, the more radical Islamist movements were perceived by Western intelligence services as being more effective in toppling the USSR in Afghanistan -- and in combatting out-of-favor Middle Eastern leaders and states.

Why should we be surprised then, that from Prince Bandar's Saudi-Western mandate to manage the insurgency in Syria against President Assad should have emerged a neo-Ikhwan type of violent, fear-inducing vanguard movement: ISIS? And why should we be surprised -- knowing a little about Wahhabism -- that "moderate" insurgents in Syria would become rarer than a mythical unicorn? Why should we have imagined that radical Wahhabism would create moderates? Or why could we imagine that a doctrine of "One leader, One authority, One mosque: submit to it, or be killed" could ever ultimately lead to moderation or tolerance?

Or, perhaps, we never imagined.

The history related points in the article are indeed true. Its high time the resident wahhabis(anajmi,MF, etc) in this forum realize that , the "wahhabism" they are selling to poor gullible bohras is the same which ISIS is following and the other wahhabis now dont like a piece of their own cake so how come you expect all the bohras would convert to wahhabis?. It is equally amazing that these current ignorant salafi type wahhabis like anajmi etc are now showing to the world that they are opposed to ISIS inspite of the clear fact which even they them selves know in the deepest of their hearts that what ISIS is doing is nothing new but carrying the same tradition of Muhammad ibn Abdul wahhab, Ibn tayimmia etc. This ISIS phenomenon has showed many true colors of the current "Wahhabi" people and helped us to go to the root cause of wahhabi in this world. But these modern saudi wahhabis will always remain in denial.

@ghulam muhammed
Appreciate your research efforts and sharing it in this forum. Thanks.

Wahabism is an invention of a sick devilish person. It has nothing to do with Islam. These extremist groups are being used by world powers and middle eastern kingdoms and sheikhdoms to advance their own geo-political agenda. Do you see anything remotely Islamic (as in tolerance, respect of other faiths and beliefs, respect woman, children and human life) in their followers ?

Some times I feel like they think that being alive is problematic for them. They (the target of the above poem) just hate other people who enjoy life while staying within moral boundary.

This is the biggest piece of bull shit I have heard about Abdul Wahhab.

Mr. Baird, how are Saudi Arabia’s beheadings different from Islamic State’s?

It’s something the Canadian Foreign Minister still fails to grasp.

On Wednesday, the same day that John Baird was greeted warmly by his Saudi Arabian counterpart to discuss coordinated efforts to combat Islamic State militants (also known as ISIS or ISIL), a Saudi court judge decided to pass a death sentence against a leading opposition figure on charges of sedition and “breaking allegiance to the king.”

“We consider the Kingdom and Kuwait important allies in combating violent extremism and terrorism,” Mr. Baird said before leaving for his trip to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait on Tuesday.

Does Canada really see an ally in a country that has carried out twice as many beheadings over one month than the militia it now claims it wants to destroy? According to Amnesty International, 59 people have been decapitated in Saudi Arabia since January this year, and eight in the past month alone. That’s twice the number of Western hostages who have been featured in IS’s execution videos (though there have also been non-Western hostages beheaded by IS). Saudi Arabia’s track record actually makes IS look scant in comparison.

For more than a decade, Nimr Baqer Al-Nimr has been considered a revolutionary hero in the Shia Muslim world for peacefully calling for an end to corruption and discrimination against religious minorities. But in a country where political opposition and insulting the monarchy is tantamount to suicide, the reformist cleric clearly crossed all red lines.

During his sermons in 2011, Mr. Al-Nimr exposed the government’s ill-treatment of political prisoners, calling out Saudi princes and princesses by name to stop “killing our sons.”

In another sermon following Arab Spring-inspired protests the following year, he questioned the very legitimacy of the Gulf monarchies on the basis that they were inconsistent with Islamic law.

“The House of Saud and Khalifa (in Bahrain) are mere collaborators with and pawns of the British and their cohorts. It is our right, and the right of the Bahraini people, and all people everywhere, to choose our leaders and demand that rule by succession be done away with as it contradicts our religion.”

What Mr. Baird needs to grasp immediately is the horrific impact executing Mr. Al-Nimr would have in fuelling sectarian violence in the region. Carrying out the sentence also gives zero credence to Saudi Arabia’s purported claim of opposing the militant group. Saudi Arabia already shares their extremist ideological roots in Salafism with IS and their love of decapitating people who don’t agree with them - won’t the execution of a prominent Shia cleric only encourage them to continue their persecution of religious minorities?

There’s only one message Mr. Baird needs to deliver to Prince Saud Al-Faisal: Pressure Saudi Arabia to release Mr. Al-Nimr and disavow the violent and regressive ideology that lies at the heart of its state.

This is the biggest piece of bull shit I have heard about Abdul Wahhab.
Those who can give Lanat to Prophet's Companions and His wives and abuse them like anything, they can say anything about those with whom they disagree. Their hatred is deep rooted.

People who support abdul wahhab (like anajmi and jc) are clearly not in support of the bohra faith and community (either progressive or traditional) indeed they are venomously against it, so will only cause conflict and animosity here.
