Is "Man Qunto Mawla" a statement of succession?

if they are faithful and honest and accepted the hadith as sahih, then why dont they follow it?

They follow the hadith. They just don't follow your interpretation of the hadith.

Why would not they follow the hadith when it is so clear and without any ambiguity. People looking for a way out of this ultimate obedience test will look for loop holes. Reminds of Iblis's antics to not give sajda to Adam (first Prophet).
