Why Ramadan is always 30 DAYS

The one and only free public forum for Bohras. The focus of this forum is the reform movement, the Dawoodi Bohra faith and, of course, the corrupt priesthood. But the discussion is in no way restricted to the Bohras alone.

On the question at hand, the Bohra calendar is based on Mathematical calculations dating from the Fatimid period, and not based on physically sighting the moon.
If we agree that Bohra calender is based on Mathematical calculatons, now its just a matter of factto prove that these calculations are always correct.

Simple way to prove it is that every 1st night of the Bohra calender based month should coincide with the new moon night. If its so the calculations are correct but "if not" then there is some flaw in the calculations which should be looked into.
I agree, I am not familiar with the Fatimid calendar, so I can’t vouch for its accuracy. However I think the principal of having a calculated calendar worth while.

to all,

libya, which follows only astronomical calculations, started fasting on tuesday, september 12th. why use astromical calculations...it is strongly recommended within the quran. why fast 30 days...unless it is determined that ramadhan is 29 days, you should fast 30 days to complete the month per the quran.

the sighting of moon has always been unrealiable. last year the shia community in our town started 3 days after the bohras and celebrated eid on the same day...that means they fasted only 27 days. its a joke. this happens every years...not just once in a while...to the point where it is predictable.
