Article in Midday on current power struggle

The one and only free public forum for Bohras. The focus of this forum is the reform movement, the Dawoodi Bohra faith and, of course, the corrupt priesthood. But the discussion is in no way restricted to the Bohras alone.

Coming soon to your nearest theaters...

THE FALL OF THE BOHRA DYNASTY (2003)

As I had mentioned sometime ago in another post that the time is coming soon for the Dawoodi Bohras to disintegrate and eventually disappear to dissolve themselves into others sects or perhaps the emergence of yet another more refined and elucidated Progressive Bohras but without any gods. Although daring challenges lie ahead, the fight over their next god has already begun and few, Insha-Allah, will become true submitters to GOD Alone and Quran Alone while many will hither and thither away. Since the last few years now and more so, one can witness this throughtout the world in any country and in any city, where their fate belongs and thus seperating themselves from the UN-QURANIC methodologies.

This ofcourse is but GOD's Law for the idols and the idol-worshippers.

Battle over Syedna succession rages
By: Manoj Nair
May 9, 2003
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A battle of succession is raging at Saifee Mahal in Malabar Hill — the palatial residence of the ailing and ageing spiritual head of the Dawoodi Bohras, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin.

The 92-year-old Syedna is yet to name his successor, but the issue is stirring up a debate in this small but prosperous community. It finds frequent mention in community newspapers and made a brief appearance recently on a controversial website.

According to community members, there are two important players in the fight for succession. One is Syedi Khuzema Bhaisaheb Qutbuddin, the Mazoon, the priest second in rank to the Syedna and the heir apparent.

The other is Sayedi Husain Bhaisaheb Hushamuddin, the Mukasir and the third in command.

There is also the anti-Mazoon group led by the brothers, sisters and sons of the Syedna.

The Mazoon or ‘the one permitted to rule’, who is in his late 60s, is a step-brother of the Syedna and is like the crown prince in waiting. The Mukasir or ‘the executor’, who is 82, is the Syedna’s brother.

Ordinary orthodox Bohras like Zubeida Banu Barodawala do not want to speak openly about the power struggle in their community.

“There could be a rivalry for succession. But there is no question of us thinking about a successor to the Syedna. We only pray for his long life,” she said.

Though Barodawala and others may shrug off the rivalry as ‘‘petty politics’’, the fight for the post of the chief pontiff has sparked skirmishes in towns and cities where the 1.3-million member community has a presence.

In January, a family in Worli related to the Syedna fled India after a website set up by them alleged that the Syedna’s brothers and sons were sidelining the Mazoon and Mukasir in community affairs.

In Surat in February, a large group of community members attacked the Mazoon’s car when he came out from the reception of the Syedna’s son’s wedding.

The Syedna’s office in Badri Mahal, Fort, dismissed the event as trivial, saying it should not be contrived as indicative of a power struggle.

But community members say that the group opposed to the Mazoon’s appointment as the next Syedna was behind the Surat fracas.

“There is a systematic humiliation campaign that is on against the Mazoon.

"The anti-Mazoon group, which does not want to lose control of the religious trusts that have assets running into hundreds of crores, is trying to tarnish his image and portray him as unfit to lead the community,” said Fazl Januwala, a community member.

Other Bohras have found the absence of the Mazoon at the Moharram celebrations in Mumbai in April, conspicuous. “The Moharram celebrations were organised by the anti-Mazoon group,” explained a Mazagaon resident.

The fact that the Sydena has not named his successor is worrying some Bohras.

One orthodox member Fatema Kathawala wrote from London to the Bohra Chronicle, a community newspaper brought out by the Bohra reformists opposing the absolute power of the Syedna over the community.

“His proclamation of a successor will go a long way to ensure stability and survival of the community as one unit. We believe that by not doing so, he may be putting his life in danger at the hands of those who crave his position,” said Kathawala.

Saifuddin Insaf, a Bohra who is part of the reformist movement, said the reformists have been asking the Syedna to explain to the public what is going on in the community. “But he is keeping quiet about it,” said Insaf

What a shame and a disgrace the corrupted Royal Family and the Bohra leaders bring to dupe their own communities and the world to see for their greed and power to become a god to challenge GOD.

The message of prophet Muhammad:
GOD, there is no other god but GOD. HE has no partners and none equals HIM. Be HE Glorified.
MASHA-ALLAH, SUBHAN-ALLAH, ALHAMDU-LILLAH, ALLAHU AKBAR.

Did Khuzema Bhaisaheb took the 20 million dollar offered to him not to contest for the position of 53rd Dai?
