achievements of Burhanuddin Saheb (TUS)

The one and only free public forum for Bohras. The focus of this forum is the reform movement, the Dawoodi Bohra faith and, of course, the corrupt priesthood. But the discussion is in no way restricted to the Bohras alone.

Overall Bohras are very progressive community. I am trying to figure out the reason for bohras to be so progressive.

What percentage is it Syedna TUS contributed?
How much is the Khotars, and NDK, Mulla, or Sheikhs contribution?
What percentage can we give to the networking?

There are some big achievements of Syedna which even progressives agree

Please also let us know any of your personal story or story from your jamat for your achievements and to whom you want it to be credited

Dear Have-no-heaven,
Do you know how many Dawoodi Bohras have left faith and have become Ashna Asharis, Sunnis, Bahais and even Hindus. There numbers are in thousands. And it is all because of atrocities committed by "Humane at Core" and "Ambessadore of peace" just keep everyone under his thumb and exploit them.

I know a couple of hindus who have turned bohras BUT that is purely for love marriage. Sayedna and his preachings has nothing to do with this. In one shocking instance, a brahmin (sharma) professor of poitical science fell in love with a bohri student who was writing a thesis under his guidance. Initially, the girl eloped with him, converted to hinduism and rechristianed herself as "Kapila" after a court marriage. After a year and a baby, due to some unexplained reasons there was a reverse conversion. The girl returned to the bohri fold bringing along her brahmin husband with her. He had to undergo "khatna" and was renamed as "Qaid Johar" by the local aamil. Though he retained his hindu believes and practices, he had to visit the jamatkhana and mosque occassionally out of "family" pressure. They started living near the community. This proved fatal to their marriage and disasterous to the man. The bohris kept taunting the girl as "madam sharma" and their son (who was 5 years old now) as "pandit ji no dikro". The Man had to fight for every inch of space in the community and for a fair treatment to his family. He was seen quarreling in the streets every other day for trivial things. Gradually he turned mad. Today he is seen shouting on streets cursing the bohras and the dai. The girl divorced him and is remarried to a "proper" bohra now.

I do not want to offend any of the ortho brothers and I love the cute dai but this is really weird. Constructing physical structures by money which one has not earned by his own hard work is considered "achievemnts"!!! ....and if that is the criteria for revering someone as dai, the bohris should infact consider the late King Fahd of Saudi Arabia as "imam" cuz his "achievements" are atleast 50 times more than that of the dai. In Indian context, I could have named the Tata and Birla group of industries who have constructed several townships, recreational centers, hospitals, school etc. but it would be unfair to compare the bohri dai with them since the Tatas and Birlas have 'achieved" this by their own hard work. They didnt hoodwink and exploit a community of million people. Besides, their motives were to contribute to the society and not to put a "gullak" and make a "rubaat/musafirkhana" and earn money from those "achievements". (the dai must have profited many times more than he actually invested in those constructions and which anyway was not his money but mine and yours)

The nearest example I can think of is the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. He too has "achieved" many constructions by blood money like the dai has done. BUT again, he has not put a "gullak" in those places and he doesnt beg for money in the name of majlis, darees and jaman in those places. So it would be unfair to dawood to compare him with the dai. Dawood fleeces someone only once while the dai does it throuighout one's life.

Recently I visited Burhanpur and stayed in dargah-e-hakimi for 3 days. I must say that they have constructed a wonderful township and a resort in the dargah premises and the facilities in the cottages are no less than that of three star hotels. Looks like the kothar has sensed that their future lies in diversifying into tourism and hospitality industry.

Recently I interviewed 10 prominent doctors who are very close to Kothari Shahzadas and some of them had worked with Saifee & Jamali hospitals, from Bhindi Bazar, Mohammed Ali Road and Byculla in Bombay, for a story in the Bohra Chronicle. To my surprise every one had to raise money in hard way to compelet their education and training, had no way helped by Sayedna or Kothar. Still four of them were giving credit for their success to Aqa Maula, though I had told them that their names will never be declared as I am not writing their names but their struggle in life to come this position.
Today they are given especial places in Kothar's functins and in their presence they are introduced as great achievers due to dua mubarak and help from Aqa Maula.
So under these circumstances how can one find out Sayedna's real efforts in the upliftment of the community!

To measure a person's success or his greatness by the number of "zari's", and that also from someone else's funds, he has built is pathetic.

I would consider success only if I see non-muslims being converted to Islam or even Bohrisim. What we have is the reverse situation, ie. people leaving the Bohra fold for whatever reason. Even a sigle person leaving the Bohra fold is a major failure on the part of the Dai and his administration and we have examples of countless people who have left the Bohra fold and joined other communities.
