Bohras set up their own business counselling centre
Apart from space, the centre will provide interest-free loans for expansion and diversification of business
MANOJ R NAIR
If exorbitant office space is a constraint for young people who want to set up their own businesses, the Dawoodi Bohras believe they have found a solution to this problem.
On Friday, a member of the family of their spiritual leader, Syedna Burhanuddin inaugurated the Burhaniyah Business Counselling Centre (BBCC) at Grant Road where community members can run their fledgling businesses before buying or renting out their own premises.
The centre, it is hoped, will further entrepreneur activity in the sect. The Dawoodi Bohras are known as a trading community and according to one estimate, between 60 to 70 per cent of them are engaged in businesses. “Our spiritual leader feels that more and more people who are engaged in salaried jobs should become entrepreneurs. This is the only way to make the Bohras more prosperous,” said Hussain Adenwala, a BBCC member.
The facility, probably the first of its kind in the country, provides well-appointed offices which will be available for the use of Bohra businessmen for a small service fee. Apart from space, a panel of experts will also offer advice to budding businessmen, on topics ranging from human resource management to international tax regulations. The centre will also provide interest-free loans called Qardhan Hasanah for expansion and diversification of business.
The centre offers table spaces, cubicles, cabins, a pantry and conference rooms. Those using the place can temporarily rent mail boxes and there are office staff to take care of administrative work like sending faxes or attending telephone calls. Companies based outside the city could use the premises to post their representatives in this city.
Architect Habil Parekh who designed the centre said that people who want to set up their own businesses often cannot go ahead because of the high cost of setting up a well-equipped office. “The need for facilities like this is tremendous. If I did not have an office, I would like to use a place like this,” he added.
The place also takes into consideration the special cultural needs of the Bohras. So, the centre has a prayer room, apart from large framed photographs of the Syedna. “We do not expect businessmen to use this premise forever. We provide them with office infrastructure so that they can grow to afford their own premises,” said Sherbanoo Adenwala, manager at the facility.
The BBCC has been registered as a private company with prince Idris Badruddin, son of the Syedna as its chief patron. Zoherbhai Khorakiwala of Monginis Foods, who is part of the expert committee that will advice upcoming Bohra businessmen said, “Apart from providing a growth centre for new businessmen from the community, this will also be a place to showcase Bohra entrepreneurship.”

Re: News from Mumbai
since you have been kind enough to post this news, also let us know how much is the cost of renting these premises, and the cost of the other services mentioned?
how much salaam will have to be done to get a space in this office and also what is the dress code to be followed for renters, i.e. STD (saya topi dadhi) and their visitors? what is the minimum period rent contract and other terms and conditions.
sorry to say, but knowing the past history, it is wise to take all this with a pinch of salt..!

"the rent is very affordable and why should you be told what it is for the purpose of demeaning it,"
thats hilarious...!!! haha. sounds like someone and his fellow haiwaans are already on the defensive...if the rent is very reasonable why would anyone demean it? people go on the defensive only when thay have something to hide or a guilty conscience.
knowing the cunning kotharis, one thing is an absolute 150% certainty - whenever they come up with any so-called philantropic scheme, it is actually a money making scheme in disguise. it is initially portrayed as a help and service etc, and very quickly degenerates into a rip-off. witness the evolution of the saifee hospital from a charitable institution into a mercenary and heartless note-printing machine.
you can fool the gullible sheep bohras but not everyone here.

btw, dedka, why do u keep repeating yr posts 2-3 times, is it because its the habit of all dedka's to keep doing 'daraw, daraw' the whole night without any earthly reason, or do u think that by repeating yr posts u will appear intelligent ... or maybe yet u think a kothari shezaadi will come and kiss u on yr *** and turn u into an handsome, progressive prince..??!!
Re: News from Mumbai
I think br. propig is done cherried out.Kothar needs someone with little more on the top floor to defend them.Unless this is the cream of the crop.Another possibility is that there is not much charm or pay defending Kothar.
All I can say is I hope he is collecting the right price.Atleast close to what greedy lawyer would charge.

i had asked u some perfectly legitimate questions about this project in mumbai which any sensible businessman wud, but yr reaction was strange and inexplicable. which in itself proves my point that u are all a bunch of crooks out to fleece the gullible bohras..

Re: News from Mumbai
professional suwwar,
lets see if this sinks into yr piggy brains...
my questions were as follows:
"since you have been kind enough to post this news, also let us know how much is the cost of renting these premises, and the cost of the other services mentioned?
how much salaam will have to be done to get a space in this office and also what is the dress code to be followed for renters, i.e. STD (saya topi dadhi) and their visitors? what is the minimum period rent contract and other terms and conditions?"
instead of replying to that you choose to re-post the whole article again, which still doesnt answer the questions. either u are stupid, have no brains at all, or have something to hide...
as for the khorakiwalla's involvement, they are well-known for being the biggest hypocrites around. privately they have very progressive views, but for commercial reasons, keep beards and act like pucca bohras. their father was publicly humiliated some years ago for having sat across mr. zain rangoonwala at some non bohra's pvt dinner banquet. privately they were outraged, but publicly make an outward show of being orthos.

Re: News from Mumbai
I visited BBCC (Burhaniya Business Counseling Center) known as Business Center located at 334, M.S. Road, Adie Mansion, Ground Floor, Near Super Cinema, Grant Road, Mumbai – 400 007.
It’s a temporary ground floor unit in a Parsi owned building. I noticed the entire space divided by aluminum and glass structure in to small and big cabins, cubical, rooms. Some cabins are provided with modern facilities like telephones, computer sets, printers, scanner, Internet etc.
Surprisingly there are no windows, ventilators for fresh lights and air and the entire space is on artificial ventilation. That means this has been done by violating basic municipal laws and it could be possible because for this project have employed the same architect “Parikh” who is champion in these matters.
The rent of smallest cabin is Rs. 5000 per month excluding the use of facilities.
Usefulness of this center can be ascertained only when it starts functioning.
The place was inaugurated by the patron of BBCC, Idris Bhaisaheb on Friday, 6th July 2007.
It is in a famous Red Light Area near Arab Gali. On the other side Kothar is constructing a huge residential-shopping complex on the land of Taj Takies in the same Red Light Areas. Lands and the properties are cheaper in such areas.
Office of BBCC (Burhaniya Business Counseling Center) will be later shifted in this complex.
Behind this once existed a huge land (Daud Baugh) where late Sayedna Taher Saifuddin Saheb had brought then President of India, Dr. Radhan Krishanan, who laid the “foundation stone of most ambitious project of Saifee Technological Institute, which proved to be just an eyewash. Later the same Sayedna Saheb the reason for not constructing the institute there was that “It is in a Red Light Area which would have the bad effect on the students studying there.” Why could an intelligent man like Sayedna Taher Saifuddin not think about this red light area before?

Re: News from Mumbai
We all know the motive of Kothar behind such projects, Its money, fame and increase of power.
Kothar, always want to stay in limelight or in other words in the minds of its followers and these stunts are the result of that.
They are actually afraid that if they do not continue to be present in the minds of the followers, their security (money, power and fame) would cease to exist.

Brother pro_pig,
If you are from Mumbai please go at BBCC (Burhaniya Business Counseling Center) after 9 pm and see with own eyes dozens of ill-famed women sitting outside BBCC and in around that area.
Please verify and let me know if any even a single sentence stated by me is wrong or over-exaggerated.
