Wanted to start a new thread that was more relevant to the topic at hand than Moharram.
It is my belief that one has to be realistic about that they are dealing with, and identify and mitigate the obstacles to achieve the desired purpose of reform. For the sake of discussion, I am accepting the goal of the reform movement to not be separate, but change the system from within while accepting the office of the Dai.
There are several distinct groups within the Orthodox Bohra community; ones that are well versed and still believe in the Dai, others that follow blindly, a group that shows up during the “bigâ€

Re: Reformist Movement
AB,
Excellent post. Couldn't agree more with you. We should take legal action wherever we can - and we have done so in India regarding the ownership of mosque and community properties and regarding ex-communication as a result of which the clergy has relaxed baraat for the past few years.
Similarly, we can take the "follow the money" line in the US, Canada and Britain.
I agree that anonymity has its benefits and this board has served us well in that regard and will continue to do so, but I don't see any problem if some of us want identify ourselves to organise a more co-ordinated, involved action.

Re: Reformist Movement
To Clarify:
The questions that need to be answered are as follows:
1. Why has the 1986 Trust sat back and observed the decline of the DBWS movement in the UK.
2. What is the 1986 Trust doing in stemming the the ever increasing flow of reformists in the UK joining the Kothar Jumaats.
3. With reformist activities in the UK near non existent, How can the 1986 Trust and its assets be disbanded to ensure the emphasis is put back into the local Jumaats.
