Supreme Court strikes down Section 66A of IT Act which allowed arrests for objectionable content online

The Supreme Court on Tuesday declared Section 66A of Information Technology Act as unconstitutional and struck it down.

This section had been widely misused by police in various states to arrest innocent persons for posting critical comments about social and political issues and political leaders on social networking sites.

The court said such a law hit at the root of liberty and freedom of expression, two cardinal pillars of democracy.

The SC delivered its judgment on a bunch of petitions filed in the light of misuse of the penal provision by government authorities against persons who allegedly uploaded offensive posts on social networking sites.

Former attorney general Soli J Sorabjee, who appeared for one of the petitioners, termed the judgment a 'glorious vindication' of right to free speech. He spoke to the TOI after SC bench of Justices J Chelameswar and R F Nariman struck down section 66A as unconstitutional. Sorabjee said: "The judgment is well researched, well reasoned and erudite in expression. It is a glorious vindication of freedom of expression."

શહેરમાં આવેલું થલતેજ ગામ આજે ઉંચી ઉચી બહુમાળી ઈમારતો અને શહેરીકરણની સાક્ષી પુરતો વિસ્તાર બની ગયો છે.પણ જયારે થલતેજ ગામની વાડીઓમાં બિલ્ડિંગની વિવિધ સ્ક્રીમો બહાર નહોતી પડી ત્યારે ગામના ખેડૂતો જયા ખેતી કામ માટે વાડી-ખેતરમાં જતા ત્યારે પોતાના ખાવાની સાથે વાડીના રખડતા કૂતરાઓ માટે ઘરેથી બાજરીના રોટલા બનાવીને લઈ જતા હતા.પણ છેલ્લા ૧૦ વર્ષમાં આ વાડી વિસ્તારમાંં મકાનો બની જતા રખડતા કૂતરાઓની હાલત કફોડી બની ગઈ હતી.કૂતરાઓ ધીરે ધીરે મૃત્યુ પામવા લાગ્યા હતા.આવી પરિસ્થિતિમાં ભાસ્કરભાઈ પટેલ,મહેશભાઈ પટેલ અને ઉમેશભાઈ પટેલ દ્વારા આ રખડતા કૂતરાઓ માટે ગામમાં જ એક અનોખું રોટલા કેન્દ્ર બનાવવાનો વિચાર કર્યો કે જ્યા દરરોજ વહેલી સવારે રખડતા કૂતરાઓ માટે રોટલા બનાવવામાં આવે અને તેને વિવિધ વિસ્તારોમાં વિતરણ કરવામાં આવે.જે 'રોટલા કેન્દ્ર' ૨૦૦૨ની સાલથી હાલ સુધી કાર્યરત છે.

Saudi Arabia is no different than your muffy maula, infact he takes some of his inspiration from KSA. they have turned mecca and medina into a vegas style facility .. feeling spiritual and getting your sins forgiven is a comfortable trip now.

Economically / commercially speaking '; I am in awe of kothar and use of muffy maula and SMB to its optimum use. Thier strategies and plans are bang on target, revenues are amazing, execution is pretty good. the team work of kothar is really good. the compettetion (SKQ) is conquered and thrashed to bits and pieces. I mean they are such an awesome example of advertisment, market capturing, niche marketing, exclusivity and brand promotion. hats off !

This picture is of Jamea Al Anwar Masjid in Misr, this is the same masjid which SMB(RA) had quoted in several bayans and Sermons that it is because of reconstructing this masjid there is Barkat in our community. This Masjid had been vandalized and was made a garabage dump area by Misri people who cared less about this Barkati place which is part of the Misri heritage. Imam Hakim (AS) had built this masjid and is also known as Al-Hakim Mosque in Egypt Cairo.

Muffadal Saifuddin is walking with his shoes on, on a red carpet in a Masjid. Masjid by Definition is house of Allah and Allah is the Owner of his house then how come this low life moron is walking like a badshah in Masjid. I do not understand the big deal made about SMS wearing white clean shoes. I have seen many people wearing Leather foot covering and walking in Makkah and Medina Masjids and also praying with it. Those are NOT shoes but just foot covering as many people can walk bare feet on floor due to medical condition.

Those are leather socks which you saw and not shoes as worn by MS. According to Bohra belief even the sehan is waqf of Kufa masjid(SMB did waqf of it while inaugurating the Masjid) so he was walking in a waqf place with shoes on.

the first two pictures in which a big banner poster of Muffadal Saifuddin is absolutely wrong on top of Masjid.

This stuff can stir up some real trouble for them.

whether leather shoes are worn by muffy or his dad; wrong is wrong. one cannot wear leather shoes in the holy area. Take for example sweaters. If these are made out of pure wool , then one should not wear it when praying. The same with shoes. If they are made of leather then one should not wear them in the precincts of holy places. whether it be muffy or his baap.

About the White Footwear.
They are actually called "Namazi Mojri/Moza". Burhanuddin Moula would also wear them.
They are Namazi, and worn in Namazi areas, and are an added level of Taharat.
They are NOT worn outside these areas. When leaving these areas, the shoes are presented and Syedna would wear his regular shoes.
