Muslim,
Thanks for the interpretation. Appreciate it. MF might want to read my post in light of Muslim's clarification.
Anajmi,
The topic here is "Education for Indian Muslims". Dont be part of the problem, please.
We are not talking about art galleries here. But if you insist, open up another topic.
Reading your post, it seems that you are no better or different than the ignorant mullah/moulvi you said should be kicked out of the mosque. The same should be done with you on this board alongwith 5000+ of your usless posts.
But then, I would let you stay - its no fun without you, honey!
Education for Indian Muslims
Re: Education for Indian Muslims
Very good points raised by Dr. Rashid. His point (h) can also be extended to secular academics. I have met only one "Muslim" faculty in my time in higher education (at least in the US). He was a part-time lecturer in Islamic studies with a conservative bent.
In my opinion, the dearth of *real* Muslim intellectuals/scholars is the result of a rancid culture of unquestioning obedience in Islam today. This lack of quality secular Muslim scholarship plays a role in perpetuating the plight of Muslims in India and in other parts of the world. For one, inquisitive Muslim youth don't have strong intellectual role models. Second, very little rigorous research is produced on issues that are relevant to poor Muslims (e.g. try finding a good research paper on the economic conditions of Indian Muslims). Finally, when it comes to making laws and policy, Muslims have dogmatic clerics representing them instead of scholars who use facts to make their recommendations instead of interpreted scripture.
