yes, in Madhya Pradesh, there are "nanga-maharaj" or "nanga-baba" reverred by some caste in hindus. these babas do not shave, instead they pluck hair, i think / hope / guess from thier heads only. and this plucked hair is given away as good omen. traders / businessmen usually keep this hair in thier gallas / cash drawers as lucky charms.

Bohras achievements in the last 50 years - Part II:

1. Bohra tourism has come of age and Bohras have become avid religious tourists. It's damn good business for a whole industry that thrives on this itch. The business preys on one simple idiosyncratic hypothetical mental sensation called 'Superstition'. It's fantastic how much money can be made out of this one human trait. Top destinations are Raudat Tahera which is now promoted as the Mecca of all Ziyarats. Followed by Karbala & other international and local places. Travel and accommodation are prearranged and the food is prepaid. The simple act of praying at the grave has now become a strange routine of kissing and rubbing of body parts in the hope of deliverance. It would have been funny if it were not for the fact that rationale has taken the back seat. Let alone hundreds of years, even within our lifetimes we have seen that rituals have evolved into completely nonsensical & meaningless acts. Paying obeisance to our departed Dai Duats is not bad per se. But when it is wilfully encouraged, it loses its religious sheen and becomes an economic transaction.

2. The Bohras are right now going through a Dai crisis. Two people are claiming to be the authentic Dai. One of them is lying - blatantly. Strangely, KQ, in spite of his seniority, historical legacy and knowledge was never in the minds of the Bohras as a serious contender for the top spot. He missed the bus completely. SMS who has the community's wealth, properties and minds of the masses under his control is sitting pretty. Even before the expiry of SMB, he cleverly constructed a platform on which he would ultimately deviously declare himself Dai. He utilised his proximity to SMB and the ready made administrative machinery to the hilt. The Bohras had no choice. They simply had to, perforce, declare their oath of allegiance to him. No one wanted the solid religious ground on which they were standing to be swept away from under them. That would be sacrilege. It's as if the past conspired with the present to play out a pre-scripted drama of deceit and lies thus charting a course of sceptical disbelief for the future.

3. It's official. The Laanat can now be pronounced in Masjids. The loudest Laanats are now reserved for Syedna Khuzema Qutbuddin who is the new punching bag. One of his main drawbacks is his speech impairment. His presence only on a website which very few people visited, is not helping matters. He is simply not visible to the common man and is a non entity. Fifty years of his services to the Dawat were instantly forgotten. That he was the second in command for all those years and was trusted by SMB was also forgotten. What was readily accepted was the showmanship of SMS and so the hazy evidence he presented was unquestionably accepted. 'Jo Dikha woh Bikha'. The fickleness of Bohras actually deserves the loudest Laanat.

4. Raza has become the greatest mental block devised - ever. When people were more purer of mind, Raza was sacrosanct - an unspoken inviolate sanction of trust between the giver and receiver. A trust that came from respect and reverence. Fast forward to 2015 - for a few rupees Raza Mubarak is now sought for the silliest of things. In the real world there is nothing Mubarak about Raza It's purely economics - to keep the cash registers ringing.

5. The exemplary lives and times of Rasullulah and his family seem such a world away from the luxurious all expenses paid lifestyle of our new Moula. Sitting on the Takht, his Bayaans about their sacrifices, frugality & service to mankind seem so incongruous. It's obvious that after all his religious bravado, the hunger for the green stuff can hardly be hid under his fancy clothes anymore. It is my request to all fellow Bohris this Ramzan and on the day of Idd to go and donate in kind to the nearest old age home or orphanage. If nothing else just put a shawl on the shoulder of the old man shivering at the street corner. There is no feeling greater than the gratitude that you will see in their silent eyes. Still, if you think that Moula is more deserving, then go ahead and give it. For a sufficiently large amount you may get a pat on your back and a handkerchief to wipe the guilt of your hands. But it has nothing to do with this religion we call Islam. It's purely a trade off.

6. Whatsapp has given us a very unique opportunity to communicate with each other across cities and borders. We Bohras have never had a platform to voice our concerns and complaints. Only those people who are computer savvy and know about the Progressive Dawoodi Bohra site, are privy to censored news and information. We can now, anonymously, say what we want and get across information to almost everybody. We can get people to think and decide for themselves. Let us use this platform sensibly and usefully. A day will come when people will forego their apartheid existence and opt for a more liberal religious outlook. We will not have to look at ourselves with guilt for having relinquished our mental peace. That will be some achievement.

In a recent matter of Gundagiri and harassment by Muffy lobby over the burial of the father of a prominent and reputed family from Hong Kong (owners of Najam Baug) who is with the dawedaar (KQ) group.....

There was a fist fight in HIZBUL HUDA OFFICE over refusal of burial in the Bohra Qabrastan for the Dawedaar (KQ) group.

Goondas of Muffy beat up the members of dawedaar who's family member had expired and were in mourning.

The Dawedaar faction got the J.J. Marg Police to intervene and the police warned HUZBUL HUDA and gave directions to provide all burial facilities to the family of the deceased... FREE OF COST !! A Saifee Ambulance hearse van was also provided.

So, Mumeen Bohras, DON'T PANIC when there is a death in your family as no one can stop your burial.

This Kothar rogues are LOOTING us.... Holy month of Ramzan is fast approaching.... DON'T BE AFRAID... If your Amil forces you to pay for anything and does Dadagiri then just go to the Police for help and register an FIR..... Lagta hai "Ab Acche Din Aa Gaye".

The mumineen whose dues are pending I.e. the so called lump sum annual amount which is minimum 30,000 and max no limits.. Those mumineen are not allocated passes and they are blackmailed via the website and masuls saying that if u don't pay the amount so no need to come in masjid for namaz.... Dear friends this is heights now. Spread this message so vast that it reaches the right hands in Badri mahal. And they dissolve the whole tanzeem.

I have personally heard from Shahzada Taha Najmuddin when someone complained him in Badri Mahal Masjid regarding one Shaikh of "Anjumane Shiate Ali" that he is running "Addas" where Haraam services are available, Whisky and women. The gentleman showed him a few photographs too. The Shahazada listened and replied very peacefully :

actually the people only encourages them to do this kind of things as there are more people than place can accomodate.
it is just demand and supply
if people stop going , it will teach them a gud lesson.
but people dont want to let go socialising and community gathering which is the main reason they go in the first place.
namaaz is just a couple of mints formality done hurriedly.
plus there is a video show
better to go in morning and afternoon when there is no compulsion and avoid going in maghreb

this is exactly use to happen with me when I was in India, all year round I would pray in masjid but as soon as ramadan would start I would have to take kona of my house and pray why because I could not stand all those gossips and all those videos and what ever, I want peace for praying and I could just get it at home in ramadan, but again I use to go in fajr and zohar only.

I will not negate your comments but at the same time I would like to state that Iam very much aware of a very rich Bohra from Hong Kong who is a regular in KQ's vayez right from SMB's times. He is KQ's loyal follower who like Habil Khorakhiwala has been giving the major part of his zakat money to KQ since many years and Iam quite sure that he is none other then the erstwhile owner of Najam Baug. Iam saying 'erstwhile' because as per reports, the Najam Baug property has been sold to Kothar quite some time back and only after which Najam Baug was renovated and made fully airconditioned. If anyone can throw more light on this then he is welcome to do so.
