Khassi Bakra
Khassi Bakra
Recently, I got to know about 'Khassi' goat that is goat which has been castrated or his testicles removed. I got to know that they do it to increase the quantity of meat. I searched for it on youtube and saw that the butchers or the goat rearers do it very cruelly without any anesthesia.. The goat shouts & wriths terribly in pain.. Isn't it un Islamic ?? Almost all people in this business do it.

Re: Khassi Bakra
I think that it has to do more with the quality of meat rather then the quantity because the meat from khassi bakras don't give a certain type of foul smell which is there in other bakras. This seems to be very obvious when people sacrifice goats during Bakri Idd and other rituals. If Iam wrong then someone more knowledgeable can correct me.dawedaar wrote:I got to know that they do it to increase the quantity of meat.

No, they do it to increase the quantity of meat. The goat becomes more muscular and hence the quality of meat goes down as it becomes hard to cook n chew...On the contrary, I have heard that meat from khassi bakra gives foul smell.... Cutting off balls of goat is not natural or going against nature and I don't think anything that is un-natural is allowed in Islam... & hence when we do zabihat during akiko, a khassi bakra is not allowed. A goat must be proper/full in all aspects

Goats are castrated to achieve two objectives first is to get more meat by conserving its energy from sexual act and second is to get foul smell free meat as uncastrated sheep's drinks their own urine which gives a rotten smell in its meat. For qurbani however in our fiqeh and that of shia Muslims the goat should be uncastrated and free from all defects and bearing at least 2 and preferably 4 teeth.

Hurting animals and trying to manipulate nature is always bad, one should avoid such Qurabaani.

The person who tells us to follow teaching of Quran- Sunnah of the Prophet and Ahl e Bayt is telling us to avoid Qurbani Waha bhi Waha An Noor.Al-Noor wrote:Hurting animals and trying to manipulate nature is always bad, one should avoid such Qurabaani.

Obviously I was talking to avoid khassi bakra and not avoiding qurbani which is islamic and perfectly fine.....

Re: Khassi Bakra
You're right to raise this concern. Islam strongly emphasizes mercy towards animals. Causing unnecessary pain, especially without anesthesia, goes against the principles of humane treatment taught in our faith. Ethical methods must always be considered.
