Dawoodi Bohras celebrate Syedna’s 92nd b'day

MUMBAI: The city’s Dawoodi Bohra community will celebrate the 92nd birthday of Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin on Friday by offering floral tributes to the leader at the Raudat Tahera mausoleum in Bhendi Bazar.
The celebrations, which began across the world 40 days ago, will culminate in London, where the Syedna will bestow benedictions on community members.
Dawoodi Bohras at over 700 centres across the world have also undertaken projects designed to “enhance social and economic progress’’.
For the Syedna’s 92nd birthday, community members have helped out 9,200 needy families, it was stated. Apart from spreading the Syedna’s message of loyalty to the nation and of peace, members of the community have conducted several vocational training programmes. Financial assistance has also been provided to the needy.
Other programmes have included medical camps and health seminars held during the run-up period to his birthday.
Fruits and flowers were distributed to patients in hospitals and low-cost housing schemes and environmental projects are under way.
