U know guys this whole progressive thing got me confused. what is the point. what don't u like about traditional bohra. if u don't like idea of imam then become sunni. if u agree with imamship but not daiship then become 12er. if u agree daiship ok but current one not real then sorry u will have to start ur own religion. there is no reform in religion.

Reformists don't want reform in religion. They want to fix the "social" customs that are not part of the bohra religion.

Is not religion a "set" of beliefs and customs (call them rituals if you prefer)? Does not religion have to be viewed within a social context - it cannot exist in a vacuum. Are you saying that the current Bohra hierarchy has changed the practices completely? Like Gursevak I too am a bit confused - what is the Dai's role; does he not (in consultation with the Imam)make whatever changes considered necessary? Does not the Imam put Islam in a modern context? We will have to ignore the wahabis as they will come up with their usual nonsense about the Imam's role.

Sorry bro I am too tired to take up that debate. There is enough material on the home page as well as the forums of this site to indicate that what Bohra Dai is doing is not a 'modern interpretetion' of Islam.

Besides, dai is not Imam. Even his remote links with Imam are dubious (the 'mutlaq' issue). He is NOT infalliable. He is very much prone to succumb to personal interests. This is when reforms are needed to bring him back on track.

Thanks for bringing up this topic. We'll put up some new articles soon. We also intend to completely overhaul the site with a new design and content format. We'll keep you posted.
