First of all, why does TUS feel that he is entitled to provide anyone with permission to build a zarih, house, hotel, hospital, etc.?

Secondly, I wonder if Husain or even one Ahle Bait would want a bejeweled zarih erected on top of their burial place.

And why doesn't Burhanuddin just pay for it himself? With this type of emotional appeal, millions will flow into their coffers, and the kotharis will collect way more $$$ than they could possibly use for the zarih.Thye already have billions to spend, why collect mre from hard-working folks?

There are some people who are special. Imam Husain is one of them. Can you imagine Islam without his sacrifice? I think building a good zari for him is worth every penny. I am here and regularly visit the site and read the postings but have not posted any lately.

Imam Hussain was one of the greatest but Bro Areef making Zareeh on his grave is NO good at all. Please do not compare it with using money for Hajj etc.

Islam has forbidden all types of Idol Worshiping - once you make a tomb or zareeh or mausoleum on a grave, people start worshiping that and ask the dead for all sorts of help. This is the same things bohras are doing - have made hundreds of rozas and qubbas and we all know what bohras do there. Had been right to make zareehs all prophets inclduing Mohammad would have asked their followers specifically to make huge zareehs on their graves and would have asked them to visit those and request help and guidance - but that is NOT the case.

Again, in the end it is all FAITH that matters. Hindus and Communists have lived a happy and prosperous life here, so their wishes and dreams have also come true. Nobody has seen life hereafer.

Muslims believe Islam is the best and complete religion - this religion teaches not to worship idols or dead or even living human beings. There is only ONE Allah - and this makes all the sense in the world.

If you say religion is a private and individual thing then lets leave it at that. I was not trying to compare zarih with haj but was trying to make a point. If welfare of people is everything as LM says then we can spend all the money on their welfare. I fully agree with the CONCEPT - we are NOT SURE. So we apply simple logic, what is the simplistic approach or argument which will prevent divisions - that there is ONLY ONE GOD who is doing all this. That was my qoute and not LM's. Well I never said that we should invest millions of dollors in building the zarih... If the zarih is built and is in GRT shape its good enough. Also, nobody knows whether worshipping the dead is right or wrong. If it would have been completely wrong then there are roughly 1 billion hindus in the world. They believe in idol worship.. If they were absolutely wrong god/allah would have made effort to bring them on right path or he would have destroyed them. Neither has happened.. In fact the Hindu culture is one of the oldest. Even older then Islam.

Also, I again repeat that I am in for building schools, hospitals etc for welfare of community. Read my other posts. I believe that the community can only progress if there is channelization of funds for the right cause. I too strongly believe in that...

Good answer LM.. I liked this one. I feel the same way as you. However, if you will ask this question to others not many will agree. Everyone wants to go to haj. Just imagine the amount of money people spend on haj every year. They are only making Saudi rich. And Saudi is using this money to fund terrorism and other nefarious activities which is against the preachings of our beloved prophet(PBUH).

The point that I am trying to make out here is that there are 60-70% of the people in this world who are below poverty line and really need help. Since, this is true no one should go to haj. Everyone should just donate their haj money to poor. Lets see how many agree to this. The other question that arises is whom will Allah prefer more on the day of Judgement. I agree with JC here, there is no need for fancy-shmancy zareehs - or temples and churches built to satisfy someone's ego. Every organized religion is a business, and as such, religious figures exist so that they can carve out a nice, comfy life while making everyone believe that without them, there is no salvation.

Yes, Hussain Imam was a great man who laid his life down for his cause and his grave deserves a bit more than a mound of earth. However, we need to focus on today, right now, the present.

No One who has died has ever come back to tell us about it, and there has never been any proof of an afterlife. I for one, lately, am not fully convinced that there is one. I really do hope, though, that I am proved wrong on this. In the interim, why not spend our resources for THIS life, make life easier of those less fortunate? Why not build the infrastructure that we need? Why not develop the healthcare and social programs that we need now?
People like Burhanuddin and Family spend millions flying themselves around to global cities and helping themselves to innocent people's hard-earned money.
why not use some of that money to make a difference in the community today, now, here in the present? There are plenty of very intelligent people on the planet that could benefit all of humanity -if they only had an opportunity. The future of our entire planet hinges on ensuring the viability and health of everyone on it.No one knows how many brilliant peole are languishing in the dregs of poverty.
It's quite easy for Burhanuddin to appeal for jewels and whatnot from people who are struggling to make ends meet - he would do better to stop taxing Bohris for every turn in the road and let the community prosper and grow.

My answer - DO NOT go for Haj and help a dying poor man. Haj is just a big party of Muslims performing some rituals which to me make no sense.

Remember what Hussain did - he was doing a tawaaf and some one asked for helped. He broke the tawaaf and went out to help. So Hussain himeslf has taught us - HUMANITY is the biggest thing - A living person, a LIFE is the MOST important thing. Whatever you can do to uplif that LIFE and for the betterment of human race is welcome. Religion was only a 'mean', a way to achieve that noble goal. Religion is NOT an end in itself. It is only a route, a system used 1400 years ago to bring law and order, organization and culture and some semblance to human lives. We make laws to suit us and we change them once the ground realities change. God has granted us WISDOM which is the most important thing, we should use that.

If you want to remember a great man like Hussain, follow his foot steps, try to do and perform what he did, remember him as an example - grave or no grave, zareeh or no zareeh is not important. BUT if you make a zareeh, you have to be careful as idiots and stupids will start worshiping that - an easy way out to beg and cry to someone and ask for help. If you need FORGIVENESS, them forgive you fellow human beings and you will achieve forgiveness.
