I have friends who have had the same experience, christians comming up to them and saying their god is not the same as the god of islam. If christianity claims to be a monothiestic religion, as does Islam, then there cannot be a "right" god or a "wrong" god because there is only "one" god. Therefore, all monotheistic religions worship the same god (as there is no other god to worship) regardless of their differing rituals and customs.
