Jumaa Prayers
Why are jumaa prayers ignored by the Bohra's. Can any one please explain.
Re: Jumaa Prayers
Brother Khan who gave you this information that the Dawoodi Bohras ignore Friday prayers. No. They definitely do not agnore any prayer. In fact as for as observing the religious obligations like namaz, roza and hajj and reading Quran etc are concerned Dawoodi Bohras are more perticular than other Muslim brotheren. And for them the Friday prayers have special significance like with other Muslims.
Only difference is that other Muslims are not so very perticular about other days' prayers and every one rushes for Friday prayers. That is why in other Muslim mosques you find more attendance on Friday than on other days. This is my observation since childhood as I pray in the Bohra mosques as well as in mosques of other Muslims.

As br. Insaf
What br. Khan means by asking a question in neglect of Jumma prayer is probably as follows;
Prayers are mentioned in Quran
The prayer times are mentioned in Quran but are open to interpretation.
Specific form and number of Rakah were taught by our Prophet SAW.
Jumma prayer is different then regular Zohr prayer.
In gerneral Zohar prayer consist of 4 Rakah of Fird prayer. In Jummah prayer Fird prayer is reduced to 2 Rakah. In regular Zohar prayer, there is no loud recitation of Fateha and other Sura. In Jumma prayer Fateha and other Sura or part of Sura are recited loudly.
Jumma prayer usually has two Azans. After first Azan you perform Sunnah prayer and wait for second Azan, after which Imaam (Prayer leader) delivers Khutba in two parts. This is Sunnah of the Prophet SAW.
As I understand, Bohra Jumma prayer is no different then regular Zohar prayer since no Khutba is delivered on Friday (Jumma).
As per Br. qiyam Khutba is not delivered because only Imaam (Imaam-us-Zaman) can deliver Khutba.
Perhaps you can explain where in Quran or in Hadith it says that only Prophet or his progeny can deliver Khutba. In Prophets time Khutba was delivered in each and every Masjid.
As far aws your comment;
Also please note that there is a specific command in Qur'an for Jumma prayer.
Wasalaam.

There is an element of truth in it. There is no social pressure in majority of Muslims to pray. If Jumma prayer was not different then regular prayers then I do not think it would attract larger crowd. There are many so called Muslims who think that Praying only Jumma will suffice. I know some who only show up for Eid prayers, even though Eid prayers are not compulsory. In fact as for as observing the religious obligations like namaz, roza and hajj and reading Quran etc are concerned Dawoodi Bohras are more perticular than other Muslim brotheren. Re: Jumaa Prayers
I should have made myself clear. What I meant was the khutba and the 2 rakah Juma prayers. Why is this not practiced by the Bohri community.
Re: Jumaa Prayers
Regarding the reading Khutba,
it is not that only Imam az Zaman can deliver Khutba, but it is due to the fact that the Bohra Imam is not manifest, that khutba is not read in any mosque.
In Fatimid mosques, khutba was read by ppl other than Imam of the Time. However, khutba was read in the name of the Imam.

Does anybody know what a khutba is?

Title: They do not pray Jumu’ah because there is no khaleefah
Question:
There are many young people who do not pray Jumu’ah; instead they pray Zuhr (four rak'ahs) because the conditions for Jumu’ah prayer are not met as there is no khaleefah
Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.
They are doing wrong by not praying Jum’ah, and by praying Zuhr instead, because the existence or permission of a khaleefah is not a condition for Jumu’ah to be obligatory or valid, according to the scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah.

Your Comment:"------- the reading Khutba"
Reading I take it as reading someone else's writing. Khutba is nor read but delivered.
Your comment: "In Fatimid mosques, khutba was read by ppl other than Imam of the Time. However, khutba was read in the name of the Imam."
What is this Khutba is read in the name of Imam?
If you want to take anybody's name then take Allah's.
What is this stuff! Khutba in the name of Imaam.
Imaami Namaaz.
Read Quran. Worship in Islam is only for Allah SWT.
Wasalaam and pray that you see the light of Allah.
