Re: enslavement of children by parents.
anajmi, It's good that you contribute. Every un-idiotic view that promotes thought is worth something. Just be a little more mindful of what this movement is trying to achieve and why some of your posts are undermining it. You've caught the ire of opponents but not without reason. Address the issue...

Re: enslavement of children by parents.
I don't need you to cater to me. I just need you to stop spreading your gospel when there are many that don't want it (or can't bear to hear it). At least not under Bohras and Reform. There's no contribution to this cause whatsoever.

Re: enslavement of children by parents.
Basically, what you are saying is that bohras have nothing to do with Islam right? And I shouldn't argue with bohras regarding their reform on the basis of the Quran, right? These sensitive readers that you refer to sound like bunch of pussies!! They're not sensitive as much as you're insensitive.

You made that assumption long ago. Continue arguing for it, but under the proper heading. We're not looking for a dramatic revolution.

Re: enslavement of children by parents.
I've heard from brother MF that he's not allowed to post on this forum as well. I do not think that's fair. However, if his views do nothing but continuously argue Sunni v. Shia I understand why he's not allowed to, but all the same, ask for him to be uncensored. This petty fighting needs to stop. ...

Personally against the use of any labels, but if adopted I think it should only be for people who identify as actual Progressive Dawoodi Bohras in order to indicate official response.

Re: Do we have the right to criticise
What you're arguing applies for every sect of every religion. There becomes a different of faith and thus a separation in path. The ideal is to cleanse this sect of tyrannical practices, not deem Bohras as heretics of Islam and join another sect. That may have been your thinking, and I'll defend yo...

Re: enslavement of children by parents.
Then let me re-iterate. Restrict this forum to allow only your kind of thought process. And then stop calling it free. Start issuing pjamaat cards to people like yourself and AZ and the progressive movement will progress far and wide. I don't mean to kick someone while they're down but there's no c...

Re: enslavement of children by parents.
zinger, A little off-topic but still pertaining to our conversation. It's a Bohra practice that I'm sure many people have engaged in where we do wadaahvnu to family members on the eve of their waras. It's in good fun and celebration and we try to sprinkle a little faith in it which is meant of good...

the phychological impact for the 16 year old who is about to conquer the world is now subconciously a slave. When this person reaches 30 to 40 years of age he is proud to call himself an abde syedna(slave of syedna) subconciously a submissive nature is already adopted. ..... That is why you see peo...

Re: enslavement of children by parents.
I follow you and do not denounce your argument (I personally believe cherry-picked hardline literalism of the Quraan is treachery against what some may consider the threat of advancement, but that's for another topic). I also agree in being vocal to condemn more extreme views. But in consideration ...

Re: enslavement of children by parents.
Bro Zinger, That's a little fallacious. It's like apples and oranges. They're both fruits but that's about it. The consequences of each situation differs greatly. They're not comparable. I understand if you think that "if it's harming no one there's nothing wrong with it" or "it's a ...

If keep on keep'n on is more of the same, I disagree.
Certain strategies, thoughts and approach might have to be tweaked (or at the least, debated on).
Patience is fine if it comes with progress. Keyword: if.

as has been done in certain qabrastans of India and Yemen.
should it matter who the assailants or victims are?
respond through a process of what's just, not barbaric. I also feel it's important to be mindful of the situation around you before getting caught up in a frenzy.

Re: Syria militants exhume grave of Prophet’s companion
An eye for an eye doesn't mean hack away inhumanely. When you choose to exercise capital punishment there should be no suffering or malicious intent involved. As for the second part: you're joking, right? The sharia isn't an issue so much as the people enforcing them, particularly those that decide...

Re: Syria militants exhume grave of Prophet’s companion
Shapur, It's not retaliation (in self-defense) I'm against. It's unnecessary brutality . There's nothing you've pointed out I've disagreed with. Perhaps it's the interpretation of how one's allowed to respond. Does the Quran say hacking someone to pieces and denying them a place of burial is allowe...

There's a difference between self-defense and feeling upset/enraged/persecuted/overly-sensitive/paranoid. I'm not going to indulge further in conspiracy bias and continue on these specific aguments as I'll be repeating views I've already stated. I just hope that no ones boiling with such confrontat...

Re: Syria militants exhume grave of Prophet’s companion
I would likely lash out violently in response to what's happened to my loved ones, hopefully restrained by others of good sense and less grievance. But that would be my act. My retaliation. In my anger I wouldn't care if it's allowed by God or not, and I certainly wouldn't have the patience to cont...

Re: Syria militants exhume grave of Prophet’s companion
What I suggest is to reason if the call for such violence and it's supplemented thinking solves anything. There's no indefinite answer. I just believe that's along the lines of extremist thinking. Which I'll denounce unapologetically.

Re: Syria militants exhume grave of Prophet’s companion
What a funny argument. What does such brutal and inhumane retaliation do in response? How does that solve anything? It shows resentment over believed persecution complex. Which you make a statement against via act of extremism under the banner of "allowed by Allah"? I daresay fanatic extr...

Re: Syria militants exhume grave of Prophet’s companion
And Imam Hasan did the complete opposite. Not to mention, Imam Husain was put in a position in which he was forced to react; he didn't declare war himself. The Quran also speaks clearly about equal retaliation (and how criminal jurisprudence is more grey than black and white); as reprehensible as s...

Re: Syria militants exhume grave of Prophet’s companion
Yes, and the Quran endorses brutally slaughtering those that you've perceived to have wronged you rather than humanely demanding justice through due process of law. Please. Endorsing the hacking of anyone to death is personal and ignorant vengeance, rather than justice in the name of God. How's you...
