*समाज की बदलती पहचान*

हमारी क़ौम दो ग़लत दिशाओं में तेज़ रफ़्तारी से आगे बढ़ रही है। एक तरफ़ शिर्क और दूसरी तरफ़ आर्थिक अपराध। इन ग़लतकारियों की ज़िम्मेदारी भी उन्हीं के सर है जिन्हें समाज की हर अच्छाई की क्रेडिट दी जाती है।

दरअसल जिनका काम मोमिनों को अल्लाह और रसूल की तरफ़ दावत देना था उन्होंने ख़ुद को ही अक़ीदे का मरकज़ बना लिया। इस्लाम का बुनियादी अक़ीदा तो ये है कि मोमिन के हर इरादे और अमल में सिर्फ़ और सिर्फ़ अल्लाह की ख़ुशी मक़सूद हो। मगर अवाम के ज़हनों में *"मौला नी ख़ुशी"* का अक़ीदा इस तरह रासिख़ कर दिया गया है कि आम बोहरा मौला की ख़ुशी और नाराज़गी को ही दीन और दुनिया की कामयाबी और नाकामी की वजह मानता है।

किसी शख़्स को देखना-सुनना सवाब, क़दमबोसी और ज़ियाफ़त देना सवाब यानि उनकी हर अदा में बरकत और सवाब का तसव्वुर रखना और उन्हें नफ़े नुक़सान का मालिक समझना ही तो शख़्सियत परस्ती है। यहीं से शिर्क का दरवाज़ा खुलता है। शख़्सियत परस्ती फिर तस्वीर परस्ती तक ले जाती है। जिसकी मिसालें हम देख रहे हैं।

इल्मे दीन से ख़ाली इंसान जब शिर्क में मुलव्विस होता है तो फिर वो किसी भी हद तक जा सकता है। साधुसंतों के पैर छूते हुए, जैन मुनियों के पीछे भागते हुए और बुतों पर माला डालते हुए बोहरों की तस्वीरें हम देखते रहते हैं और किसी को कराहियत महसूस नहीं होती। ज़ाहिर है जब ये सब काम किसी की मुहब्बत में हमारे यहां भी हो रहे हों तो धर्म के ठेकेदारों के पास उनको रोकने का अख़्लाक़ी हक़ बचता ही नहीं। नतीजतन उनकी ख़ामोशी, भटके हुए लोगों को मज़ीद भटकने में मदद करती है।

दूसरा मामला क़ौम में बढ़ते आर्थिक अपराध का है। दिन ब दिन बोहरा मुजरिमों की फ़ेहरिस्त तवील होती जा रही है। सिस्टम में बैठे हुए लोगों पर भी अक्सर उंगलियां उठती हैं। दावत के निज़ाम का बढ़ता आर्थिक दबाव और त्यौहारों से लेकर ज़ाती प्रोग्रामों तक बढ़ती चकाचौंध ने पैसा कमाने की होड़ पैदा कर दी है।

जब क़ौम के पेशवा ख़ुद, अमीरी के रोब से अपने चाहने वालों पर दबदबा क़ायम करना चाहते हों। जब उनकी शाहाना तर्ज़े ज़िंदगी, आलीशान महल, महंगी गाड़ियों के आगे उनके अक़ीदतमंद ख़ुद को इतना अदना महसूस करें कि उन में ग़ुलामी का एहसास भर जाए। मक़ामी जमात से ले कर सैफ़ी महल तक केवल सरमायादारों को ही अहमियत दी जाती हो। जहां बग़ैर पैसों के कोई काम न होता हो। जहां अक़ीदा रखने वालों से ही अक़ीदे की क़ीमत वसूली जाती हो। जहां तालीमी इदारे की फ़ीस भी सब की ताक़त से बाहर हो। जहां दौलत ही समाज में इज़्ज़त, आख़िरत की कामयाबी और रूहानी पेशवा तक रसाई की ज़मानत बन गई हो वहां अमीर बनने की कोशिश हर शख़्स के लिए सामाजिक और धार्मिक ज़रूरत बन ही जाएगी। चूंकि नेकी और किरदार को कभी मेयार बनाया ही नहीं गया इसलिए अगर दौलत कमाना ही अवाम का नस्बुल ऐन बन जाए तो उस में हैरत की बात नहीं है।

हम देखते हैं कि हमारे यहां दुआएं भी "आख़िरत की कामयाबी" की जगह, "आल में-माल में" बरकत की दी जाती हैं। रहबर की दुआओं की बरकत का हवाला देते हुए भी, अवाम की आसूदगी और ख़ुशहाली को ही कामयाबी बताया जाता है। ग़रज़ पैसा ही कामयाबी का मेयार बनाया गया है। यही वजह है कि रहबर की अमीरी और शाही ठाठ-बाट को अक़ीदतमंद उनके सच्चे और हक़ पर होने की दलील समझते हैं। हालांकि रूहानी शख़्सियत की पहचान तो उसका किरदार और तक़वा होता है, मालो दौलत नहीं।

आम बोहरा इस हक़ीक़त से वाक़िफ़ है कि इस समाज में इबादत गुज़ार और नेक होने से कोई बड़ा नहीं होता बल्कि हैसियत से होता है। और हैसियत बनती है दौलत से। इसीलिए जो लोग शेख़ के टायटल के लिए लाखों रुपए देते हैं, वो दरअसल हैसियत ख़रीदते हैं ताकि ख़ुद को बड़ा महसूस कर सकें। लेकिन अमीर बनने की कोशिश में कुछ लोग सही ग़लत का पास नहीं रख पाते और अपराध की हद तक चले जाते हैं।

जिस दीने इस्लाम ने कहा है कि "अल्लाह के यहां ज़्यादा इज़्ज़त वाला वो है जो ज़्यादा परहेज़गार है" (क़ुरआन 49:13) उसी इस्लाम के नाम पर अपने बेचे हुए टायटल की अहमियत बताने के लिए अल्लाह के घर में ही दरजे बना दिए गए हैं।

अल्लाह सब को दीन और क़ुरआन समझने की तौफ़ीक़ अता करे ताकि बादशाहों वाली ज़िंदगी जीने वालों को अपना आदर्श बनाने की बजाय चटाई पर सोने वाले और जौं का आटा खाने वाले रसूले करीम (स.) और मौला अली (क.) को अपना आदर्श बनाए। इंशाअल्लाह शिर्क से भी बचेंगे और आर्थिक अपराध से भी।

UTTHO MERE PAKISTAN!

Mufaddal Saifuddin was awarded the Nishan e Pakistan (Pakistan’s highest civilian award). This award is taking a number of people by surprise because the recipient is neither a head of state, has not been considered worthy of any award by his home country, has a poor record of any public engagement and is the Vice Chancellor of a prominent Indian university where his role has been sketchy.

This raises the question of what the Syedna may have done to be considered worthy of this award. For once, most people are stumped. The Syedna has been in office for only ten years following the passing away of his father. The Syedna has publicly championed the cause of female genital mutilation, patriarchy and madrasa-styled education. The Syedna has virtually no YouTube persona and virtually all of his statements pertain to the safe religious domain where he is only articulating the already-articulated. The Syedna is the spiritual leader of community of not more than a million the world over and even if one assumes the population of this community to be 200,000 in Pakistan, it would still be a speck in a country with a population of around 240 million. More seriously, the Syedna has been accused of usurping the office that he holds and judgement on this longstanding succession battle is pending announcement in the Indian high court.

This raises a mysterious question: just who is this Mumbaikar? What makes heads of state of questionable secular credentials embrace him in masjids during Moharram sermons? What makes tottering economies give him their highest civilian awards? What makes countries welcome him as a State Guest when he is neither political, statesmanlike or social reformer with virtually no profile – not a single recorded interview exists in the public domain - outside his own community? What do award-giving governments see in him that most people fail to perceive? What does one make of the fact that the institution he runs is feared for its North Korea-like grip on the social existence of its followers?

These represent a number of questions with no answer. The question that emerges is one of doubt. Could this then be a scam? Is the man attempting to buy a PR-manufactured image that projects him as a statesman when nobody even knows who he really is? Or are civilian awards become so commonplace that they are given out to just about anyone without fact-finding ascertaining ‘who is clean?’ and ‘who is not clean?’ Or is it just another instance of a financially (or morally) impoverished country ‘selling’ awards to whoever can buy?

As a Pakistani, I am ashamed. Booting out Imran was the pits. Keeping him out by whatever means was how cheap we would stoop. And now selling awards to insular people of questionable backgrounds is terrible. If only we could see what India has done and where we have descended…
