Kite Runner is the first book authored by Khaled Hosseini...
It makes a very good reading. A touching story of set in Afghanistan about 2 childhood friends (sunni & shia...yes a lesson or two can be learnt) and also talks about political turmoil in Afghanistan. It feels like you are reading a memoir rather than a novel.

The book was adapted into a film of the same name, however, as usual the film could not do much justice to the story.

A Thousand Splendid Suns is another masterpeice from Khaled.

infact, the only film that was better than the book, i thought, was lord of the rings. the book, in comparison was so boring.
You are kidding, right?

2 things Prof.

1. Welcome back, long time no read :D

2. Su waat karocho!!!

Look at the battle of Helms Deep in the two towers. The movie showed it as the high point. in the book, it was just a para. then there was tom bombadil in the book. who was he? what was he there for?... no clear explanations. the fights were so much better in the movie than in the book. the death of boromir, in the movie, moved me. in the book, it was just a para...
I don't think that the death of Boromir was supposed to be moving. He had fallen and had tried to take the ring. The real hero was supposed to be Faramir, whose role was bungled in the movies. The few paragraphs where Sam inadvertently reveals the ring to Faramir who resists the temptation to take it, are pure gold.
