Teenage Bohra girls...should they be allowed to date?

I am just wondering whether, Bohra girls, aged 16-18 should be allowed to date outside of the community, but none the less to another type of Muslim? Is it correct?

not just bohra girl but no dignified muslim girl will ever think to go on date, meeting potential spouse is a different thing and dating which is a western culture is a different thing.

They should be married at the age of 16-18, but should be allowed to date from the age of 13 or even younger.. because of bohra women are known to deteriorate much faster than "most" women..

Shabbir4U and Labbayak
On my last visit to India, I saw a new trend in Bohra Community, the girl gets engaged and sometimes that engagement lasts for many years before they decide to either break it or get married. While engaged girl is allowed to spend time with her future in laws as well as potential husband sometimes out of country as future in laws may be in Dubai or Kuwait.
How can a girl who is just engaged be allowed to spend anywhere from 2-3 months away from her parents and stay with strangers. How is that any different that girls going out on supervised dates which only lasts few hours?
Do any of you support this new trend among Bohras of letting their daughters spend time with future hopeful in laws? This is only happening in Bohras.

Dear oma,

yes I wont deny such incidents in India specially in small towns, but islamically it is absolutely wrong and it is just seen in poor families who wants to marry there daughter with person working in dubai or kuwait.

and those girls who gets involve in such things just ruins there future life.

No this is not in poor families and no it is not in small villages and towns. I am from Mumbai and I met many families who are well to do and reside in Mumbai do justify this trend, I just gave Dubai as an example but girls from other Metropolis within India and within Mumbai spent the time away with their to be husband and in laws Unfortunately establishment has done NOTHING to stop this trend despite the fact that they know about it but will deny about its existence

Establishment has already aware people what is halal and what is haram in every majlises, now its upto individual choice to obey islam or go astray.

Getting the girl engaged for a few years, allowing her to mingle with her in-laws and her fiance is an age old tradition in the bohra community. I remember my aunt getting engaged in her teens and then getting married after almost 7 years of the engagement and that too in the early sixties. Now to discuss the Islamic and Sharia angle is futile because bohras are a different set of people as compared to muslims, not to forget their sayings... "Hamein to bohra chhe, olo to musalman chhe".
