If he admitted guilt to obstructing justice (I believe that is a crime, correct?), should he not be punished for it?

This whole issue was not personal or targeted towards individuals. I don't think the authorities wanted to punish individual . That is not western correction policy. These people were pinged so they are examples to others.

Now next time after all this if someone does it again, whole different issue. Lock them up

My interest is the system needs to change. The administration in India gets the message they have to change this practice.

But what they the dawaat did instead of working towards eradication , join hands with authorities, they went head on challenging the investigation, laws, definition, and with their deep pockets, hired lawyers after lawywrs, took on a very determined prosecution that is very skilled and experienced. Do we know what happened regarding the sentencing of the three individuals who were convicted?

The discussion on the "Court Case" forum thread is far more relevant ..but I just wanted to bring to everybody's notice that Trump has hired the same lawyer (Alan Dershowitz)...the Muslim hater Jew , to his team to defend him during impeachment..

Its quite "Nasty" and sadistic for DMBS and Shz QJ to have hired the same guy(Dershowtiz) to defend Muffaddali Dawat , for the Michigan FGM case..

We all know what Trump stands for ..so doesn't it make it quite obvious that only the evil sides tend to hire the Devils' Advocate...

There are reports law faculties and universities are already discussing the case in academic research.

The representative and followers of SMS was found as criminal and SMS is on record in Supreme Court to have rediculed.the Court process.

The prosecution decided not to follow up on resentencing due to impact on the children and likely the defence would seek a protracted retrial. Note the prosecution was more concerned about the children than the barbaric dawaaat. The point has been made.

This case was about sending a message to Dawoodi Bohra their practised is illegal and if caught again will be met with full force.

Unfortunately we all know the kothar and Amils are likely to make the mistake of playing with the law as they live in their own world. Next the case will be easier punishment severe. The Aus case is wrapped up for now.
