Salim, I stand by what I wrote about my cousin. Can you comment on below taken from: Ali Ullah means Ali is from Allah. Now there is a chance that in history there "might"be some Mullah, Pir Or Fakir who would had misinformed people to gain more power. Creating communication gaps was much...

Re: Learning about the Qur'an from a Catholic archbishop

I have a cousin (a Bohra) who fell in love with an Ismaili boy and married him. She went through rigorous training to convert to Ismailism. I have several Ismail friends, some I grew up with. My cousin surpasses them all in her fanatical devotion to Aga Khan. In fact, she embarrases my Ismaili frie...

Overall education and specially western education is anti-abde . If you are abde mindset you would thrive in Saudi Arabia and China. Exception to the rule in case of Bohra Abdes. Bro Salim- your suggestion is not funny at all. Why do you make light of it? What is your estimate of # super progressives among your Ismaili Jamaat? I'll have to check in with my sources and see what the estimate for "non-questioning abdes" are all over the world in bohra jamaats. So far...

I'm Muslim, Pro-Palestine and Visited Israel

It's complicated. These are the words that I heard over and over again on my trip to Israel. Over winter break, I was selected to attend the Campus Leaders mission sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League. This was an eight-day trip to Israel filled with a variety of speakers, cultural experiences an...

Aga Khan Divine or not

Couple of non-ismaili people on this forms were suggesting that according to ismailis, Aga Khan is divine, all powerful. I have refuted to this claim many times. For ismailis Aga Khan is Allah blessings. But this does not mean he can't do mistakes or he is all powerful. After looking at the great jo...

I believe that even the Sulemani Bohras have a large population in Najran. Yes, they are Sulaimanis and very often they are attacked by Saudi army during the month of Mohorram for observing publicly. Since zakat is not monitored and forced, I am assuming the collections are usually low. So community has to organize charity runs and golf tournaments and cultural fundraising events. They do the same in many different countries. Many Ismailis like to donate this way.
