The Qur'an-Basic Teachings

The one and only free public forum for Bohras. The focus of this forum is the reform movement, the Dawoodi Bohra faith and, of course, the corrupt priesthood. But the discussion is in no way restricted to the Bohras alone.

This is a touchy subject. It hurts the feeling of majority on this board, even of those who share with Porus or Humsafar.

JP, you're right. People feel offended when their deeply held beilefs are questioned. And it troubles me when I come across as a shrill heretic, but if you notice I do not speak against the qruan or Islam per se, but against all kinds of dogmas - including western dognas - in general. My sympathies lie with Muslims and their causes, but Muslims seem to be their own worst enemies when they continue to hang on to irrelevant aspects of their religion.

However, I don't think we should not talk about touchy subjects. The subject of Sayedna and corruption is very touchy to the orthos. Does it mean we should not talk about it?

Each issue has a different level of tolerance. God and Sayedna is not a very good comparison. Anyway, you know where I am coming from.

Humsafar,

Please do not start again. I don't get offended by your posts. I have said this before, none of your's, porus' or any other moron's or scientist's posts have raised even an iota of doubt in my mind about my religion. Infact with every post it only strengthens it. So don't think I am getting offended. Do question my beliefs, I will answer as many as I can (I have answered all to date). If I cannot then Allah-o-alam.

And none of your questions/doubts hurt my feelings. Feelings are hurt of those who are still weak in their Iman. For those I would suggest not to visit this board. You need to protect your weak Iman so that you can strengthen it.

And one other thing, I am no more of a shrill heretic than you are. I get troubled when I come across people who pretend to know about the quran and it's message and want to teach those who believe in Allah that they actually should not. You want us to pick a book of physics and perform chemical reactions.

A lesson here for Muslim mumins who call for Salman Rushdie's and Tasleema Nasreen's blood?

Let us send anajmi to those who rail against Danish Cartoons. He will convince them to strengthen their iman. Think Tawhid.

porus,

It's a good thing that the people who rallied against the Danish cartoons haven't read what people like you have had to say about Islam or the quran or the prophet. You guys are much worse than those cartoons. Imagine what would happen if we were to send people like you to those muslims who rallied against the danish cartoons. It's a good thing you hide behind your jamaat.

I can very well imagine that. Like you say, they are weak in their Iman. That is why I want you to go and strengthen their Iman.

That is shameful and I would not admit it if I were you. You are right though about Feelings are hurt of those who are still weak in their Iman and Muslim feeling are hurt aplenty and often. Cartoons, books, Sears Catalogs, and inappropriately dressed violin players.

Go figure….

anajmi,

Congratulations on turning out to be an exultant though self-proclaimed winner. You have won every argument on this forum against all comers. I agree you deserve a break.

Thanks for advice about hair. Haven't any left to take care of. Nice thought though.

I will let you know when I grow up! Meanwhile, take a well-deserved break. Could you also take MF with you? I will appreciate that.

I do not need break. Thank You.

Do not worry, I do not mean any physical harm. I have many Bohra friends in real life and none of them has been physically or emonationally abused by me. In real life I do not discuss religion with them.

anajmi,
When I was talking about hurting people's feelings, I did not have you or MF in mind, but the less strident Muslims who visit this board. BTW, you can count on us to continue to strengthen your iman :) .

Humsafar,

Unfortunately, it's not working anymore. Your quiver is empty. Nothing for me to defend against. Just a lot of noise.
