i know i may sound silly but i would really like to know why some people say bhori people are non muslims? Who is syedna mohammed burhanuddin saheb to the bohri community? I know he is the leader but do people preach to him?

Actually it's the other way around. Try asking an orthodox bohri if he is a muslim and he will reply in the negative.

Clueless: I don't really know your background or religious belief, but like they say, "Stick and stones may break my bones, but I will always be a bohra whether you call me a muslim or a non-muslim".Everyone has their own definition of what a muslim is, ask wahabis, or talibaans, Aga Khanis, Ahmediyas, Dawoodi Bohras. Everyone thinks they are the ones on one and the only true path. Only Allah knows. Being an ortho Dawoodi Bohra and a firm believer in Aqa Maola I am still open minded to think that God or Allah is much more open minded than me and he is multi-religionist and multi- linguist to accept everyones prayers and good deeds. To me following the seven daims of dawoodi bohras is a very selfish act in the sense it is only for me and my salvation. What Allah loves more than the seven daim actions is how you benefited or how benvolent you were to his mankind regardless of their religious belief. I believe that all the philanthropists of the world or selfles caregivers of world would be way way ahead of the most religious heads, mufti,popes,Rabbis,Pujaris, etc.etc. How you have lived your life is the real cake and the actions according to the seven daims is the icing on the cake. Tell us about your faith so we can have some interesting dialogue.

MF: Bohras do not worship any personality except Allah. neither "this" proves that. we are trying to establish a just community by healthy criticism.

Clueless: Bohras have an islamic history of around 1500 years. our history is rich in forebearance, and religious ferver. though you may find some distractions, which is omni present in all sectorial communities. go through the history, you will find some good examples, and some not so good ones. Bohras were good philanthropists, they were very humanist, and caring people.

But Bohras can claim an Islamic history lot longer than 1500 years. In fact, they go back all the way to Adam, who was thw 'first earthly' Muslim. :p

Just as good a catch. I am not sure about Bohras going all the way back to Adam. But technically, Islamic history does go back all the way to Adam according to the quran, although it may not have been known as such in history books predating the quran.

Actually, the term 'Bohra' is passe among the community divines. They now refer to themselves as Mumineen. Since Ali qualifies as Mumin, he is/was one of us who is/was living at the time of the Prophet. So there!
