A change in policy

The one and only free public forum for Bohras. The focus of this forum is the reform movement, the Dawoodi Bohra faith and, of course, the corrupt priesthood. But the discussion is in no way restricted to the Bohras alone.

A change in policy

#1

Unread post by mumin » Sat Feb 15, 2003 9:43 pm

Does any one know why the sudden change to a democratic system regarding the moharram majalis venue? It was announced that the city of choice for the moharram majalis would be decided by a vote from the mumineen. This is a sudden change. In my 55 years I have never had to vote as to where the moharram majalises should be held.

My guess is that the votes have a $ value attached to it, something like $1 per vote and mumineens are encouraged to vote multiple times (152/1052/10052/100052 etc). If that is indeed the case then the revenues will go up dramatically as opposed to only exploiting ones that happen to travel/live in the city of Kothar's choice.

Anyone know the facts regarding this ?

Yesterday, I was at the mosque in for Ghadeer Eid and they say the Ashara for this year will be held in Chennai. Any truth in this rumor?

Do they have substantial bohra population to support hosting for Ashara in Chennai? How about the logistic?

Does anyone know how fat was the Salam from Chennai Jamat?

I won't be there, but just one suggestion. How about having the Lifafa or cover ceremony before 4 p.m. Then you will surely catch these bas****s !

dear muminee110

Don't you think it would be better not to have this extravagont function and use the money saved to help poor bohras.
So before judging us on the basis on what time you perceive we go to mosque look at the bigger picture and try and figure out why we are so aginst this whole ashura carnival or is it that your mind is so white washed you can't think beyond your 6 inch beard.

Another sign to recognise a progressive bohra: that he/she actually have brains, and guts.

And it can be safely said, as a rule of thumb, that whenever you see saya, dhadi, topi and rida you can be sure that sheep are going for slaughter.

And whenever you see a bigger dhadi and/or bigger more elaborate topi you must feel as you would when you saw a pickpocket or a thief.

Another rule of thumb: the bigger the dhadi, the bigger the crook.

In the real world it's called 'freedom' - which is something you will not understand, nor desire, can't enjoy and probably never going to get.

110,

In all seriousness, I initially took your posts tongue in cheek. What is scary is that it appears you are serious. Freedom, especially of thought, is a basic human right that you need to get to know, just as the wahabis and all Islamic countries do as well.

Give it time, you will get there if you give freedom of thought a chance.

Good Luck.....
