New Fatwa: Those who do not pay wajebat are Kafirs
Pune Camp Amil Abde Ali refuses the burial of Mr. Firoz Bandookwala
Mr. Firoz Bandookwala residing at 14, East Street - Pune 411001 died in hospital on 14th August 2008. Amil Abdeali refused his burial and his son Idris sitting beside him declared that since Firoz Bandookwala failed to pay wajebat he is Kafir and go and burn his body.
Elderly Firoz bhai's wife had died and buried in their plot for 10 in Pune kabrastan. His two sons had settled down in USA. So he was living in Pune all alone. Since he was unwell since last one year he could not go to the Amil and pay his wajebat. Ultimately he died in the hospital.
Bohras in Jamaat and in his neighborhood remained unconcerned but one Sunni Muslim social worker, Mr. Yasin Khan immediately rushed to the hospital. He got Firoz bhai's body claiming it as "unclaimed" and along with other Muslims buried him in Sunni Muslim Kabrastan after namaze-janaza.
On third day after Zohar prayer the Amil Abde ali told the Bohras "Look what happened to nahanjar Firoz! If any one stop coming to me and refuse to pay wajebat he/she will meet the same fate."
This Amil Abde Ali is known as "Jallad" (hangman) in Pune as he very arrogant, shameless and greedy and spares no one. He rolls in luxury in a posh bungalow known as "Saifee Mahal" in Pune and runs the business of selling and buying old cars and trades in diamonds. He has not been transferred from Pune inspite of several complaints from the harassed Bohras. He is a close relation of Sayedna Burhanuddin and hence unabashedly ruling Pune since last 22 years. Before him his father, Hatim Bhaisaheb was the Amil of Pune and the people still remember that kind-hearted gentleman.
This Amil Abde ali is a shining example of stinking corruption in Sayedna Burhanuddin Saheb's administration.

Good post Br. Insaaf.. In fact here are a few more facts about the Pune Aamil:

1) His brother is very close to syedna. In fact when syedna goes to Germany for treatment he is one of the persons who accompanies him.
2) This Aamil has an arrogant son.. Who is hated more than his father. In fact this low life has been noticed many times eating paan inside the masjid...
3) This Pune aamil thinks no end of himself. Anybody who wants to meet him needs an appointment first. If you are not very influential or well to do than you will have to wait for a long time before you get a chance to meet him even for a small work.

He has created a virtual empire of his own in Pune and leaves no stone unturned to harass people.

It is really sad to here about Bandukwala. Many times on this board fanatics claims that there is no harassment in dawat. This incident is a proof, now what else more they want?

Is vajebat compulsory? And if a person pays all his life time and if he fails to pay in the last few years in his life, will he be treated like Bandukwala?

Mr. Zain Rangoonwala, the managing director of Bombay Mercantile Bank died in London and was buried there but his wife Shirin Bahen Rangoonwala died in Bombay and was buried in a Shia Kabrastan in Naryalwadi Bombay, Advocate Akber Ali Kazi and Mr. Shiraz bhai Karva died in Bombay and were buried in Shia Kabrastan.
Off course Dawoodi Bohras priests or neither Shias nor Sunnis, nor Dawoodi Bohras. They are a strange category!

I just dont see any importance where a person is burried.All one needs is a whole in ground.You believe otherwise ask the dead person of his choice.
Does anything change if somebody dies in a wild fire.What if no remains are not found or could be identified.In a short time the bones are whats left.It should not matter.What should matter is the legacy.
Gulf always says that such and such person died like a dog.He doesnt relieze it matters in life not to live like a dog.But again he does hang out with the wild pack.
Please call any muslim organization anywhere in the world and your loved one will be burried with dignity.Dont forget to support them financialy.If you cant do that,then pick up the phone and call few people to donate,so the organization that helped you can keep doing the noble task.
Please folks understand this once and for all,you dont need Kothar for anything.They need you.They are the ones without any means of support.If you compromise you are ruining it for everyone.
Remember a few prayers at the Qabrastan will not wipe out the life time of good or bad deeds.
Br.M F have you found out what it needs to get the body from the hospital to qabrastan.I have seen the bill.The charges are outragiuos.Why cant we transport the body ourselves in a cargo van?

seeker, you fail to understand the point. I have stated in my will that I want to be buried in the Taj Mahal. Is that going to happen? No. Will you be willing to let me get buried in your back yard? I seriously doubt it. Do I want to be buried in your back yard? Definitely no!!

A person can be buried anywhere but the family chooses a place where either other family members or community members are buried. That's just how it is. And that is what the kothari theives take advantage of.

You are right on both your points,Anajmi.Any qabrastan would do.Here in USA muslims just have a few graves in a big graveyard.
Also this is one place where all human beings get togrther.The ones who were pointing fingers at each other because of their believes,cant do that anymore.

Its amazing how they can ask for money even at an emotional moment like this. How inhumane can you get? How tactless can you be to ask for money that the family of the deceased owes when they're grieving over their loved ones death ?

There's such a thing as being supportive and mentioning their debt at a later time once the family has had time to grieve. or if they really cant wait just remind them at the time when they ask that they have outstanding waajibaat that needs to be paid but that can be done later...

Seeker and Danish both bring up a very good point - one which I agree with: it will make no difference to you what happens to your body after it is dead. A dead human may as well be a lamp or a timaatar - it is inanimate as anything else - and it will not care where it is buried.

Bura na din (very good!) makes a business out of tragedy and sadness. All the preaching about Ali and Hussain and how we should follow seerat-e- Ahle Bait - all this is only for us to do.
The kothar don't have to follow this - they must be greater and more noble than the Ahle Bait whose names they so conveniently drop and profess to emulate.

Ahle Bait weren't elitist, luxury-crazy, money grubbing hypocrites. They lived simple spartan lives and served - and they gave evrything - including their lives.

I don't believe for one second that Burhaniddin would actually sacrifice his OWN head. But living like Ali and Dying Like Hussain is for the sheep - not the wolves.

The problem with death is what it does to the remaining family/friends. All of the flowers, exclusive "final resting places", days of rituals and ghastly customs are all for naught - a dead body doesn't care about ANYTHING. It also doesn't care that a mysoginistic (spelling?) cult demands a husband's surviving wife to cloister herself away in Iddat and read a holy book for days on end.

The best thing that anyone can do is distance themselves from these people who prey on the faith and beliefs of others. Not easy to do I am sure - ibaadat can be done anywhere.

It really is a shame for this gentleman in India. May he rest in peace.

Which Firoz Bandukwalla is this? There is one Firoz Bandukwalla I know and he is alive but is sick and in the hospital. Firoz Bandukwalla is a very well known and gentle shaikh. His son and I are very good friends. He does a lot of charity and helps many poor people. It is true that he is not on good terms with the amil, but this story, if applicable to him, is false.

I would suggest S. Insaf back his claim with solid evidence so that others from Pune can verify this. Otherwise I must say that his credibility is greatly damaged. Of course, he may be referring to someone else, but we need some solid verifiable evidence.
