Kothar's fatwa to Bohris to use secured internet to pra
Wow!
The Kothari Bohris say that Allah has grown high tech. The attached is the fatwa from Kothar's HQ. But you must have your Kothar registered and issued Jamaat ID and password to contact Allah Subhanahu W'aatlaa. Previously they told the gullible Bohris to only use Kothari leaders and priests as a medium to reach Allah. Now it is to use Kothari issued ID and password and internet as the only medium to pray to God, especially during the most Holy Night in the Islamic Calendar.... Astagfirullah. Is there any limit to the sacrilege?
(Munajaat generally means prayers or request to Allah)
What would they think of next to oppress, suppress and enslave, downtrode and humiliate the gullible Bohri flock.?

Baad Salaam e Jameel,
Aqa Moula Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin saheb TUS with azeem karam and ehsaan

Personally I see making these documents available on the web as a non-event. Think it makes sense - the web site is not really secure or anything - just enter any name and any id and a recently (if you want) acquired email address and they will send you the password. If you (we) are into constructive criticism then let's do that - don't make a mountain out of a mole hill... my 2c.
Re: Kothar's fatwa to Bohris to use secured internet to pra
Perhaps the other members of the mankind - including Muslims cannot beseech to "Bohri" Allah on this holiest night of the year.
The registration form clearly states that the Munaajat is strictly meant for members of the Dawoodi Bohra Community. If the Bohris haven't paid their waajebaats, they don't get the Jamat ID. In other words "pay before you pray" - NOT a BIG DEAL e'h!

gotcha - ok I retract my position, I think the way you read it 'if ID = pay wajebaat = get to download the doc' then I think you are right. Although, isn't that how everything works now adays - getting married - need id, need raza - need id, someone passed away - need id, I suppose even if you want to complain you need an id

Re: Kothar's fatwa to Bohris to use secured internet to pra
Hey guys - Couldn't help but agree. "Pay to Pray!" the title is so fitting to bohris. My wife are considering a solution to this. We have several shiparas and other duas that we are considering scanning and putting them up as pdf files on a website. Among other things these would include Roza Niyats, Lailatul Qadr duas, vashaiks, niyats etc.
Would like to know general thoughts from users on this site if :
1) this would be useful to anyone? If people would really use it - i.e. would anyone care
2) Are others willing to pitch in and add to this so we can create a place where people can go to find these for free without having to PAY to PRAY!!
Comments / thoughts please...

Dear Houston Couple,
There iare books published, specific to the dawoodi bohra community with all the dua's etc, including with english interpretations. Excellent for families with children raised in Western countires as it helps with teaching and understanding the meaning of our deen.
Most notable is "Our Way of Life" Published by Ahmen Luqmani (sp?) through the Bohra Reform Trust.
This has all the main duas and their english meanings for all important life and annual occaisons (birth/ death/ marriage/ sawm.... lailalat qadr & ashura of course also included)
Then there is also Kitabus Salaat which if I am not mistaken was also done through the Bohra Reform Trust. This has the full salaat/ namaaz with correspondisng English meanings.
However, I agree that it would be excellent if these publiations came online as well so that the wider community can benefit.

Aleem - thanks for the info. Could you point me as to where I might be able to get a hold of a copy of this book.
Even it our efforts help one person it would be worth it. I will begin the process of putting up the website after ramadan, as it will be time consuming to scan the pages of the duas.
Thanks again for the info.

Bohra Couple,
I will check my copy and let you know how to gewt hold of one.
I do not suggest you scan it and uploadit becasue there will be copywright issues and publication fraud.
I suggest you contact the publishers directly about getting it online. Im sure they will help.
If anyone reading this knows about these publications please do speak up.

The next economically evolved stage of "pay to pray" would be "pay per pray".
Re: Kothar's fatwa to Bohris to use secured internet to pra
Further on:
Stage 3: "you just pay, we will pray"
Stage 4: "forget pray, just pay"
Stage 3: "you just pay, we will pray"
Stage 4: "forget pray, just pay"

Tahir -
Right on the money dude!! I think you just gave them next year's marketing gig.
Aleem - we were on cross-roads of what to do as well. However we chose not to register this year and instead give our money to 2 causes - Earthquake in Pakistan and Hajj charity to help those financially challenged be able to make this holy pilgrimage. We are still looking for a reputable charitable organization for that. If anyone knows of a good one please pass on the info.
As for scanning and copyright - we were planning on scanning the Shaifas and Duas from the masjid not the Book by Ahmed Luqmani.
Thanks all for the thoughts and entertaining comments - keep em coming!

Thank you bohra-cpl, Aleem and others for you interest in putting Bohra literature on the Web. We think it is a great idea and would love to host such a library on this website. We believe that the old sahifas and kaidas we grew up on are now out of circulation, replaced by the new ones full of Kothar's propaganda. It is important to preserve the old literature. We can have a library of "old" and "new" literatrue. Let us know what you think. You can also write to us at reform@dawoodi-bohras.com
As for donations, bhora-cpl you may also want to consider the reformist Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat in Udaipur. They are always in need of funds - they run free clinics, schools etc. and they desperately need funds to fight the court cases that Sayedna saheb has imposed on us.
You can find the details of Udaipur jamaat and its activities here: Udaipur reformist jamaat
You may send a cheque directly to the chairman of Udaipur jamaat but you will not be able claim a tax credit for it. Alternatively, you can send a cheque to DBRJNA (Dawoodi Bohra Reformist Jamaat of North America.) – it is a registered charity and will provide tax receipts for your donations. DBRJNA can channel your money to Udaipur jamaat on request.
Whoever wishes to make a donation to Udaipur jamaat or the reformist cause in general please do get in touch with us. Be assured your donations will not only be greatly appreciated but will also be well used.
You can reach us at: reform@dawoodi-bohras.com

All U Reformist,
What u want to say on the suggestions made by Admin here. So be ready to pay your hard earned money to a nobel cuase (BS).
Ooups doesnt it sound like a kothari demanding for money. I mean whats the difference kotharis asks for money to fight agianst reformist and reformist ask it to fight against kotharis.
Dont you think you hard earned money is just spend in fighting.
Instead my clever advise will be (for u reformist) make your own religion so that u r free to do all the things u want without facing any court cases from kothari.
Just think over it.

I can explain that to a human but never to a donkey. For now, I am giving you a homework. Figure out whats the difference between a theif and burhanuddin.Originally posted by Mumu:

Admin,
We think thats a GREAT idea to have a library of 'old' and 'new' literature and to preserve the distinction between the two. So two questions
1. could such a library be hosted on this website?
2. what efforts would you need from us?
can you provide more info on making a contribution to the north american association. we would be very interested. If u can provide a name and number of contacn person either here or via email to us that would very much be appreciated.

Admin,
I followed the link and went through the entire history of Udaipur reform movement. I was moved to read those events and the courage, resilience and patience shown by the people of Udaipur. I was not even born when all this started and when I was growing up in the eighties, I was always told the kothar version of the story by my relatives (with curses for Morarji Desai and Tarkunde.....no mention of J.P.!!). I was told that Morarji was a munim (accountant) in badri mahal and was kicked out of the job over a petty theft. He then got into politics and went on to become the PM and then tried to settle scores with the Sayedna by appointing Tarkunde commission (Udaipur doesn't figure anywhere in the entire episode)...so funny!!
I want to know if there is a Hindi or Urdu translation available for the article "THE REVOLT IN UDAIPUR AND ITS AFTERMATH". A majority of my bohra friends and relatives cannot understand English and I don't want them to miss out on such a critical part of modern bohra history (and the real side of the story they have grown up hearing).

Bohra-cpl,
To answer your questions,
Yes we can and want to host the library on this website.
You and others can help by sending the material you have in pdf format preferrably. Please ensure that the material titled (name of document), categorised (qaida, dua etc.) and dated (old/new). Once we 10 or more documents we should be ready to go. And solowly we can keep building the library.
On our side, we'll organise the material, create a standard format for the material for consistency's sake and host and maintain them on this website.
It's going to be a good collective effort, and we encourage everybody to contribute. If you have any Bohra literature that you would like to share, pls send it to us (reform@dawoodi-bohras.com). The only precaution we need to take is make sure that we don't violate any copyright laws when making the material available to the public.
As for making contributions, US residetns can get in touch with Massarat Quaisar of Dawoodi Bohra Reformist Jamaat of North America (DBRJNA). It is a registered charity, your contributions will tax decuctible and DBRJNA will provide tax receipts.
Address:
Mussarat Quaisar

Tahir,
What you read about Udaipur/Galiakot are the chapters from Asghar Ali Engineer's book "The Bohras". We are not sure whether Hindi/Urdu translation of the book is available. Perhaps Insaaf bhai can let us know. As he pointed out, "Galiakot se Galiakot tak" by Zainab Banu is a good source. And of course, he meant Baluwala's email address to be yunuskb@hotmail.com
