
You have a point. However, I am not opposed to Tafsir, Tawil, or other scholarly works. A Jewish Rabbi said of the Torah that there were as many interpretations of it as there were words in it. I think that religious texts are multidimensional, multifaceted so that they can appeal and relate to people of all levels of spirituality.
Yet, In Islam today, some people have sidelined the Quran in favor of man-made "Sayings", "Customs", and "Philosophies" and in doing so, may have lost their foundations?
