Happy Birthday!!

The one and only free public forum for Bohras. The focus of this forum is the reform movement, the Dawoodi Bohra faith and, of course, the corrupt priesthood. But the discussion is in no way restricted to the Bohras alone.

Happy Birthday!!

On behalf of all bohras, whether reformist or otherwise, I wish Syedna Mohamad Burhanuddin a hearty 99th birthday as per misri calendar!

May he enjoy many more years in health and peace. Our fervent hope is that in his last years on this earth atleast, He will realise the pain and suffering of those of his followers who have been made outcast from the community for either non-payment of dues collected by force, or due to disagreements with his appointed functionaries on matters of administration or spiritualism, of those who object to the perversion of our faith and our belief systems but are sincere and devoted to our bohra deen and wish to see our community prosper and take its rightful place among the comity of respected faiths.

We hope that he will rise to the occasion, setting his and his family's ego and greed aside, and ponder on what awaits him in the hereafter. We fully recognise him as our community's leader and the need for spiritual guidance which he is supposed to provide as a dai, alongwith setting solid examples of simplicity, humility and austerity and equal respect for all his followers, from poor and ordinary to rich and powerful.

We wish that he will stop the killing of innocent wild animals for his pleasure and sport, we wish that he restores the community's properties back to their original ownership and release us from this yoke of abde enslavement.

Hope rules eternal in the human breast. As a human being, we admire his amazing spirit and will at this advanced age. We only wish that he turns that boundless energy and determination to live, into obtaining the genuine happiness of all his followers whom he calls his children. We wish that he boldly seizes the respect and love that he commands in his followers and utilizes it to bring about the reforms that we all wish to see in our lifetime.

"There is oft a tide in the affairs of men,
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries."

We wish him and our fellow bohras a most genuine Happy Birthday!

Kul sana tayb wa alf mabrouk.

Zulfiqar, that is very well written. I support the content and appreciate the tone of your appeal. I too wish a very happy birthday to Sayedna saheb. May he do the right thing!

Thanks Humsafar.

May i also appeal to all of our fellow reform-minded bohras to refrain from using extreme language and sentiments to vent their ire against the ills of our community and thus alienating the very community they wish to reform. It is easy to get carried away when you see the depth of despair and the extent of the rot. But cynicism must not be allowed to gain sway over us such that we forget our own decency.

I was particularly struck by one of Humsafar's statements in a posting he made on some thread recently, wherein he feared that whereas reformers complain that the extreme fanatics are misusing the liberties this forum provides, the bigger harm is being done by reformers themselves to their own cause by losing focus over their goals and going overboard in their criticism and disrespectful tone and hurting the sentiments of the entire community. This was an eye opener.

All great religious and social reformers were distinguished by their character and their gentlemanly approach, sincere love for those whom they wished to reform and their humility, accessibility, patience and fortitude in the face of extreme hate and persecution. Even the beloved prophet of Islam was reminded by Allah, "La ikraha fee ad deen." There is no compulsion in religion. We cannot force any reform down someone's throat, we can persevere in continuing to gently reason and remonstrate, by becoming one of them and showing sincere affection and goodwill.

on this board, there is no one who will disagree that Bhai Saifuddin Insaf has been head and shoulders above all of us in his conduct, inspite of having suffered untold mental and physical abuse at the hands of our religious establishment.

Inspite of the great anger that I have at the sinister exploitation and manipulation of our community by those at the top, I have never lost the love and respect for my ordinary fellow bohras, misguided they may be, but they cannot be blamed en masse' for their simple and misplaced faith. I have encountered simple god fearing bohras in far fiung places, in remote corners of the world, and never have I failed to be impressed by their unexpected hospitality. This may sound ridicuolus and somewhat maudlin', but seeing the familiar sight of a bohra in dadhi, topi, and kurta pyjama, in a god-forsaken, off the beaten track location somewhere, has strangely warmed the cockles of my heart and I felt an instant sense of belonging. At such times, would you destroy his belief system by cutting off his legs or insulting his intelligence? I have often concurred with their faith (however misplaced and blind it may have been in the divinity of the syedna) out of genuine affection for them and earned their respect in return, leaving the attempt to correct them, as some distant dream to be fulfilled at a later date whenever destiny decided that our paths should cross again.

Zulfiqar, absolutely agree with you and I hope all of us will try to follow Insaf saheb's example. I know it can be hard not lose one's cool given the level of stupidity one encounters here. And I definitely do want to come across as holier-than-thou as there have been occasions where my anger and ego have gotten the better of me. But we can all learn. The reformists have a serious image problem, and those who really care about the movement should pause and give this matter a serious thought.

Unity is good, not uniformity. The other word for it is regimentation. it is used by all tyrants to serve their selfish interests.

I appreciate all those who are willing to introspect and analyse their own actions and are willing to change. It shows that they are human and willing to think, unlike the brain numbed abdes, who will keep up their slavery, inspite to so much of evidence to the contrary.

Kudos to AZ and Humsafar.

anajmi, I know it sounds strange as I consider myself a billi who has gobbled more than a 1000 chuhe :D , but it is only wise to change your tactics when old tactics do not work. Besides there is nothing wrong in being polite and courteous. Also it is important to understand the mindset of the abdes who come here - they think that Sayedna is the next best thing to God - and when they see the extreme anti-sayedna rhetoric here they completely shut themselves out without allowing themselves a chance to understand what reformists are really about. This has been a pattern for as long as this forum is around - instead of helping the cause this is actually hurting it by misrepresenting the movement. One other factor is that people here express their individual opinions, but abdes do not want to or can't appreciate that fact. They lump every opinion as "reformist". That said, it doesn't mean that I or anybody else should suffer fools. The abdes who are really interested in talking must be welcomed. The hecklers must be treated with contempt they deserve, or still better must be completely ignored.

Here is how Syedna's salgirah was to be observed in Canada. Please esp, note the sections highlighted in red. This is not done on the Prophet's birthday, but only on syedna's.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday - Rabi al-Aakhar 18, 1431 | April 2, 2010

Moazzaz mu'mineen of the Toronto Anjuman

Baad afzalusalaam.

Aqa Moula(TUS)'s salgirah mubarak

We have prepared a check list for Salgirah preparedness (ohbat). It is by no means exhaustive. You can add more items to the list and share your feed-back with the rest of us:

1. Decorate/illuminate your residence.

2. Wear Libase amwar on both the salgirah night and deen. Men should wear fetas and ladies bhari ridas, genu and beautiful designs of hina
3. Go to E-Jammat to:

· Araz Salgirah Tehniyaat to Aqa Moula(TUS)

· Fill online ta'abuddat amal forms for yourselves and encourage family members to do likewise.

4. Araz fakhir shukur na najwa to Aqa Moula(TUS) on Milad raat. It is customary to araz gold coins as najwa. Here in Toronto, we will offer our najwa to Janab Aamilsaheb on milad raat.

5. Bhaio: Be sure to walk in the Julus with your children. Walk as a proud Bohra. If you have been bestowed with NKD, MKD etc., then display the medals pinning them to your saya

6. Be on time for the Julus as well as for Aqa Moula(TUS)'s wa'az. Thousands of mu'mineen are travelling to Mumbai so that they get to do Moula(TUS)'s deedar and listen to the wa'az. We must recognize and appreciate the sharaf Aqa Moula(TUS) is bestowing upon us by allowing us to view this wa'az. Therefore, we must be alert and deeply focussed when we listen to the wa'az because each wa'az is filled with ilahi hikmat and gems of Ale Mohammad (SA)'s ilm which can positively impact both our spiritual and material lives.

7. Pray at all times for Mushfiq Bawa(TUS)'s tul-ul-umr and sehat tamma'.

Abeede Syedna(TUS)

Sayyedi Dawood bhaisaheb and Molae Raj rejected and declined to accept Gold/Diamonds but Burhanuddin saheb is promoting it!

This is the precise difference between a true Dawoodi Bohra spritual and material leader.

in mississauga during the salgirah night majlis, the amil shaikh ali akbar attar, went completely berserk and insane in his praise. here is what he said:

- mohammed rasulallah is not in front of us, we have not seen his face, but why worry? sydena mohammed burhanuddin is his face, the face of mohammed burhanuddin is the face of mohammad mustafa..!!!!
- syedna mohd burhanuddin is the qamar (moon) in the skies of islam. in fact, he is better than the actual qamar, because that has stains and marks, whereas syedna is the perfect chaand, glowing and spotless. his light shines and illuminates the firmament of islam and deene islam...!!!!
- syedna prays for us day and night, he keeps giving, his ehsaanat are beshumar on us. when we give him our najwas, we are giving him but a pittance, a tiny fraction compared to the immeasurable gifts he has given us. so give, give as much as you can, give gold, give fakhir rakams, arey jaan ane maal thi ena par fida thai jaao, whatever you give is nothing compared to what he gives us..!!!!
- when syedna had gone to jordan, the present king took one look at syedna's face and immediately gave his personal, very expensive tasbeeh which he had chadha-ofied at nabi's ziyarat to syedna as a gift, saying that the noor of syedna was such that he saw the prophet himself in his face and who can be more deserving than syedna of it? so the tasbeeh has gone from one mohammed to another..!!!!!!
- islam ni taareekh ma pehli vaar evu thayu che ke koi ek dai ya imam ye 99 bol ma ya hussain na marsiya likha hoi. aa ek mojizo chhe, jeno insaan ke jinn ni tareekh ma koi misaal nathi.....!!!!!

i think the time has now come to clearly declare that the prophet, ali, hussain, hassan, fatima, all the imams, and all the prophets of the past are now resurrected in the body of syedna mohd burhanuddin. he embodies all the purity, the lofty deeds and words and thoughts of each and every great islamic figure in himself. this will simplify the lives of bohras, as then all that they need to do is give up the quran (which they dont understand anyways) and dont need to read or comprehend it as their bolta quran is in front of them, they dont need to go for haj and umrah as their haqiqi kaaba is also present and mobile and can come to them, they can pray in whichever direction he is present and they can remove the word ALLAH from their pathetic arabic vocabulary and substitute it with aqa maula syedna mohd burhanuddin TUS zindabad etc.

Syedna saheb has himself claimed to be better than all dais. He is claiming to take his followers into heaven even if they are the biggest sinner. Because he claims that if he cannot do it then he is not dai.
In his last waaz he claims to be sultan (authority) in surah Rehman's ayah,
"O ye assembly of Jinns and men! if it be ye can pass beyond the zones of the heavens and the earth, pass ye! Not without authority shall ye be able to pass!"

The above is the sole crux and message that the abdes are to take home after hearing all the 'noorani kalemat'. This is the moral of the whole story.
