Thaali (dabba) Rasam explained
Moazzaz Mu'mineen of the Toronto Anjuman
Baad afzalusalaam
As you already know, we in Toronto have started the Faiz-ul Muwaeed-il-Burhaniyah or the Thaali rasam last week and it was a success, thanks to efforts by a large group of khitmatguzars, both ladies and gents.
We remind you that every Thursday, we will have this mawaeed and we ask you to pick up your thaali from the Masjid between 6pm - 8.00pm unless you have made prior delivery arrangements.
Once again, we want to recap in point form, the concept or "tassavuur" behind this rasam since there seems to be a lot of misconceptions:
1. It is definitely not a "visi" or a take-out restaurant.
2. Engrained in the system is "ruhaniyat". We are getting nourished from Aqa Moula(TUS)'s mawaeed and as such it is rich in barakat which in turn:
* brings shifa to our bodies and souls
* cultivates deeni tarbiyat for our children
* enriches rizk and mitigates the effects of the economic down turn.
3. In order to maximize the benefits that accrue from the rasam, we ask you to contribute an amount in "hoob" just as we do with Niyaz-e-Husain(AS), Shehrullah niyaz or any other niyaz so that we avail the food not only to ourselves but to fellow mu'mineen.
Since we want to sustain this rasam and make it a permanent fixture of our jamaat activities, we ask that each family contribute $100 per month strictly in "hoob" at your pleasure under no duress.
From now on, we will abolish per person charges and wait for your hoob donations. Again from now on, please tell us whether you need thaali for two or four persons in your family.
Again, we ask all of you to join by registering your name with Mulla Yunus Kika or Shk Hakimuddin Shakir. Let us all reap the barakaat that Aqa Moula (TUS) has reserved for us and which Syedi Mufaddal Moula wants to spread. May both Moula remain in sehat tamma for ever, aameen.

"1. It is definitely not a "visi" or a take-out restaurant."
95% of the bohras i have spoken with are definitely treating this is as a "visi" or take out service. chalo apnu jaman nu kaam aasaan thai gayu, was their response.
the "spiritual" explanation of the dabbawala scheme is one of the most assinine justifications of a silly idea i have ever read. the priorities are misplaced, the whole thing will not last very long.

AZ don't under estimate this will be a rasam, just like so many will last long
special design rida, bohri topi, dua ma yaad greeting, saya kurta...
The really insane thing will be that Adbes will be seen carrying tiffin very soon at airports and streets without shame or embarrassment, just because it contained the barakaat, just like the Sikhs carrying kirpar !
What is worrying what they may put in it to get people addicted to it !

Check out this article in today's Toronto Star. http://www.thestar.com/news/article/106 ... -hot-meals. The sunni mosque offering these 'hot meals' is located one block from the Dawoodi Bohra markaz in Mississauga.
My 'hoob' donation will definately be going to the sunni mosque down the block!!

Re: Thaali (dabba) Rasam explained
You look at the pictures and wonder: What the hell is wrong with these people? Every farman they get from high-on ends up making them look more ridiculous. Frankly, there must be some limit on how foolish and ridiculous a quam can be allowed to look and behave. Abdes, in my opinion, have reached that limit. I think it's time they put their collective foot and dabbas down and hide away with whatever little dignity they are left with.
Regarding shifa and ruhaniyat, it's so much pap and abdes are swallowing it, as usual, without a burp. They must wonder that the food they have been eating until this dabba business was all devoid of shifa and ruhaniyat. Or does it mean that from now on they can have all their kharases and mithases and will never have to worry about bypasses? If this is so then I'm ready with my "hoob"!!

humsafar, spot on!
so far the abdes have been eating soul-less junk food with no nutritional values or health benefits, basically killing themselves eating garbage cooked either at home by a disinterested amte syedna or a stupid housemaid. the abde children of course, have been the worst off, surviving on stale insipid morsels and leftovers, with no grand bohra values or morals.
now with one stroke of genius, the whole picture will change! noorani glowing faces and bodies, full of divine values and bursting with health. soon the bohras will prove to a skeptical world and to the scientific community, how they have astoundingly brought down their cholesterol and sugar levels, their uric acid levels non-existent, their heart rates and blood circulation efficiency 100%, their eyesight 20/20, their hearing acuity sharp as animals, their senses tuned to fever pitch..their liver and kidney functions perfect, no hyperacidity problems, all bohras active in sports even at ages of 80+ with no arthritis or rheumatism or osteoporosis.
WOW!!!!!
and the little abdes and amtes all scoring perfect A+ grades in school, setting world records in all sorts of competitions from maths, science to sports, arts and crafts...
su eni niraali shaan che!!!

Humsafar and AZ - very funny indeed
What clever goobledeegook language used to sell this new tassavuur. So the khitmatguzars slave to make this mawaeed. It is financed by the Abdes with their hoob donations. Yet all the credit for barakaat, ruhaniyat, shifa and deeni tarbiyat is given to Aqa Moula!!
How can any self deprecating Abde resist Faiz-ul Muwaeed-il-Burhaniyah

Will the tiffins be generic or some copyrighted design is in process
will it always be made of steel. There is new industry thatnwill make Apple look lame
Is it okay if we make it in China why bother with giving it to Indian laborers ? Make at $1 sell at $53 create artificial shortage people will fly to India to buy
How can we profit for the sudden surge in tiffin futures? There is a block in outback that looks like has ore in it How many tonnes of , help me with maths ? 1 million tiffins each at 250g of steel 250 tonnes times spares.....rolling mills, transport shipping, branding, handling
Some silver plated for kasreali , some with Mansoos autographs, these are premium ones, engineering students and computer specialists designing new shapes, colors Nairobi Jamia to be expanded with new faculty
Some with batteries to keep food warm, plug, dishwasher safe Wow this will save us from GFC 2

Read the last three letters. Interestingly as AZ has pointed out that certain moral changes will come due to thaali and as pointed out
kids are now wearing topi to eat from Tiffin which they did not do before
As far as healthy and balancing, the last sentence describes who kids are eating MORE food not LESS, Mojizas are already happening.

What a pathetic state of the Dabba Rasam in Quetta, Pakistan. The kitchen, pots and pans and the foods looks disgusting.
Burhanuddin's invented stupid dawat ni jaban which is dished out in explanation is very cowardice and suits very well to die-hard abdes!!

No sane person will support this "dabba" scheme
.. I always thought,
" We feed the homeless with warm meal and supply unmade food to those whom already have home's & family to feed
"..
But that is not the case in the Abdes world..
"They will serve warm meals only to those whom have a home or a place to stay & a kick in the buttocks, if you're homeless
"..
Is not hard to notice, they want to make life more and more difficult for the poor abdes by enslaving them with all this daily tour.. The father who could spent that time with his family.. instead, he has to spend time, fetching food..
Or a young boy, who could use that time to study or a daughter who could spend that time beside her sick mother or grandparents..
Why is it so hard for you died-hard abdes to see what the Kothari are doing to your lifes
??

Re: Thaali (dabba) Rasam explained
Recently a very well to do abde family in Pune enrolled themselves in this dabba scheme (naturally with the fixed price tag) and when I asked him the reason he told me that it is to gain 'barkat' of the dai and that this scheme is in line with Imam Zainul Abedin (a.s.) teachings as he used to provide food to the poor and needy. When I reminded him that according to the dai's bayan, Imam Zainul Abedin (a.s.) used to carry a 'maski' on his shoulders and go door to door to the homes of the poor and personally feed them FREE OF COST then why doesnt any of the zaadas contribute some of their illgotten wealth for this noble cause and visit the slums of dharavi and mumbra and do the same but leaves the task for the local abdes, he gave me a blank look.
Re: Thaali (dabba) Rasam explained
The blank look is common. Did he not start maatam? I suppose abdes are taught to beat their chest and say "Ya Husain" when they or their masters run out of ideas.

Re: Thaali (dabba) Rasam explained
The poor bohras of mumbra heaved a sigh of relief when the local amil announced that every family will be provided with a dabba with food sufficient for 2 people irrespective of the family having paid for the same. This was music to the ears for mumbra bohras who failed to analyse the 'catch' behind this............ It so happens that the mumbra jamat which has around 2000 families would need a minimum of Rs.32 lacs to take care of the monthly bills and hence it curtailed its services to '3 days a week only' because the jamat could manage to collect only Rs.16 lacs a month from the willing donors, an amount which is barely enough to take care of dabbas for 3 days a week.
Hence the tall claims of the dai having launched this scheme of FREE food to his followers falls flat on his face because the jamat would have definately been able to take care of providing food on a daily basis only IF the dai chose to put his hands in his own pocket and thereby fill up the deficit caused by the lesser then expected donations. The said amount is peanuts as compared to the amounts collected by him 24x7. Inspite of the collective efforts by the bohras themselves they still sing the same old tune "Mola nu kitlu ehsanat chhe ke hamare free jaman aape chhe". FREE, MY FOOT.

THOUGHTS ON THALI
http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/en/jamie_oliver.html
This video will surely 'awaken' the fence sitters of our community, who are still mulling about the benefits of the 'Thali' initiative, and at the same time, motivate those who are putting their heart and soul into making it a powerful and health beneficial movement.
How I wish that in near future, some one like Jamie Oliver will show the world, on TED Talk platform, or any other world wide forum, the immense health benefits of the 'Thali' initiative of the Bohra Community.
'THALI' will surely bring about the tangible changes in the way, at present, the Bohra community eats food, and in future, how the world community will eat their food. The real statistics and persuasive talk by Jamie Oliver,is not only relevant to US and UK but the problem of obesity, rising Cancer and Heart related deaths have snowballed to epidemic proportions in India and other developed and third world countries, in all which we have a very sizable population.
Jamie Oliver : ' I believe that the power of food has prime place in our home, that binds us to the best of life'
THALI will surely bind our entire community.
In Kolkata the Barakat of Faizul Mawaid ul Burhaniya is reaching more and more mumineen homes under the kiyadat and guidance of Janab Musta'ali BS Mohiyuddin (DM) and Anjuman e Mohammedi. Sharing with you all the collages of the Thali Barakat in our city, sent by Bhai Abdulkader Kagalwala.
