The condition in Dubai

The one and only free public forum for Bohras. The focus of this forum is the reform movement, the Dawoodi Bohra faith and, of course, the corrupt priesthood. But the discussion is in no way restricted to the Bohras alone.

The condition in Dubai

Hi im new to this site. i am corresponding from Dubai and i found out abut this site from acquaintances. i would like to share with you the state of the community in Dubai, which i am sad to say is'nt very good.a few years back we didnt even have a mosque in the area where i lived. things were really cramped back there. it was so hard to pray and the space alloted to each individual was about only about 22"-24"(inches). anyways, promises were made for a better mosque and now after paying in excess of Dhs.10 million ($2.7 million) we finally got a mosque which by the way is still cramped as 1200 people are cramped with pretty much the same amount of space as before. as you might have guessed, the people who don't pay as much get their places outside the mosque in the compound. also, there are a lot of people who are clearly fed up with the system but nothing is done as people here dont raise an eyebrow without the "raza" of the religious superiors. also it is the young blooded people who are fanatic about their religion. just recently, there was a so called "farmaan" by the dai telling people not to trim their beards. now, you could see teens hardly coming to maturity sporting a flowing beard.im not saying it is wrong to keep a beard but just showing you the extent of the fervour that has gripped people here.

Dear blindfolded,
In reading your posted, I noted some odd things.

One, you criticize that your previous mosque was so full that you were cramped. Most muslims would weep with joy to see that.
Then your community, by the grace of Allah, get another mosque closer to you, and that one is also full so that you are cramped. Again most muslims would rejoice in hearing that.
I drive 1-1/2hrs one way to my mosque. I wish I could complain like you.

The "farman" of the Dai is actually nothing new. It was required by Rasullah to every Imam to every Dai. Its because people don't listen that it seems new.

I met a person in dubai few months ago.Obviously he is not a muslim (Neither shia nor sunni).
He Our Bohri masjid should not be called as mosque. It should be called as temple to worship syedna. We are going out of the limit to the extent of worshiping aqa mowla. So what is the difference of other hindu and buddhist tempe whole the same.

Although i don't agree with him certain extent he is right we need to draw the line other wise we are going astray to the extent of worshiping syedna. It is shame non Muslim has noticed this but not us. Probably we will not realize this but certaily next generation will go to extreme end like some of the shia sect who call Imam Ali as god(NAOOZUBILLAH)
WE NEED TO REVIEW OUR PRACTICE.WE CANNOT JUST BLINDLY FOLLOW WHAT KHOTHAR SAYS AND SYDNA SAYS.
EACH AND EVERY PERSON HAS BRAIN SO EACH PESON IS ANSWERABEL TO ALLAH. SYSDNA WILL NOT COME TO RESQUE YOU IN THE DAY OF JUDGMENT.
