Understanding the word "kaba"
Understanding the word "kaba"
Understanding the word ‘kaba’.
Salaams everyone,
We are told to face EAST towards kaba from one hemisphere of the earth and face WEST towards kaba from the other . The above statement not only contradicts the following verse but several others, knowing fully well that the Quran prohibits any form of idol worship, as in:
[2:117] Righteousness is not turning your faces towards the east or the west. Righteous are those who believe in GOD, the Last Day, the angels, the scripture, and the prophets; and they give the money, cheerfully, to the relatives, the orphans, the needy, the traveling alien, the beggars, and to free the slaves; and they observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) and give the obligatory charity (Zakat); and they keep their word whenever they make a promise; and they steadfastly persevere in the face of persecution, hardship, and war. These are the truthful; these are the righteous.
As fundamental as the above verse further portrays towards being a righteous one, the divine importance, tenure and stature of ‘kaba’ as implied and practiced in worship, whether towards it or via acts, by the alleged muslims, is never implied.
[2:22] The One who made the earth habitable for you, and the sky a structure. He sends down from the sky water, to produce all kinds of fruits for your sustenance. You shall not set up idols to rival GOD, now that you know.
(we know that ‘kaba’ has been set up to revere GOD)
[2:165] Yet, some people set up idols to rival GOD, and love them as if they are GOD. Those who believe love GOD the most. If only the transgressors could see themselves when they see the retribution! They will realize then that all power belongs to GOD alone, and that GOD's retribution is awesome.
(setting the ‘kaba’ and loving it as if it was GOD’s house)
[2:257] GOD is Lord of those who believe; He leads them out of darkness into the light. As for those who disbelieve, their lords are their idols; they lead them out of the light into darkness - these will be the dwellers of Hell; they abide in it forever.
(people have set up humans as their lords and these very lords have set up their idol ‘kaba’ along with other tangible and intangible methods and structures, to revere GOD and to lead others into it, from lightness into darkness)
[3:64] Say, "O followers of the scripture, let us come to a logical agreement between us and you: that we shall not worship except GOD; that we never set up any idols besides Him, nor set up any human beings as lords beside GOD." If they turn away, say, "Bear witness that we are submitters."
(the point is self-explanatory. NEVER worship or set up ANY IDOL, EXCEPT GOD - how does the ‘kaba‘ fit in?)
[3:186] You will certainly be tested, through your money and your lives, and you will hear from those who received the scripture, and from the idol worshipers, a lot of insult. If you steadfastly persevere and lead a righteous life, this will prove the strength of your faith.
(ain’t that a fact - not only have the worshippers of ‘kaba’ done enough damage onto themselves but the rest of the world as well, hence a ‘a lot of insult‘)
[4:51] Have you noted those who received a portion of the scripture, and how they believe in idolatry and false doctrine, then say, "The disbelievers are better guided than the believers?!"
[4:60] Have you noted those who claim that they believe in what was revealed to you, and in what was revealed before you, then uphold the unjust laws of their idols? They were commanded to reject such laws. Indeed, it is the devil's wish to lead them far astray.
[quite apparent with the sunni/shia cults and their ahadiths (false doctrines, leading to misunderstood and twisted Quranic injunctions) - the ‘kaba‘ is one such idol and its unwarranted doctrines]
[5:90] O you who believe, intoxicants, and gambling, and the altars of idols, and the games of chance are abominations of the devil; you shall avoid them, that you may succeed.
(isn’t the area where ‘kaba‘ stands, an altar, where animal sacrifices are made in the name of GOD while other strange acts are performed in and around it, hence the name “Haj“)
[39:3] Absolutely, the religion shall be devoted to GOD alone. Those who set up idols beside Him say, "We idolize them only to bring us closer to GOD; for they are in a better position!" GOD will judge them regarding their disputes. GOD does not guide such liars, disbelievers.
(hmmm, setting up, idolizing and naming a stone structure called ‘kaba’ only to bring them closer to GOD)
[46:4] Say, "Consider the idols you have set up beside GOD. Show me what on earth did they create. Do they own part of the heavens? Show me any other scripture before this one, or any piece of established knowledge that supports your idolatry, if you are truthful."
(consider the idol that got created on earth, ‘kaba’, and along with it came the idol worshippers)
Although there are abundance of other verses that reflect denouncing/shunning idols and idolworshipping acts, I shall end with the following:
[6:22] On the day when we summon them all, we will ask the idol worshipers, "Where are the idols you set up?"
[6:23] Their disastrous response will be, "By GOD our Lord, we never were idol worshipers."
[6:24] Note how they lied to themselves, and how the idols they had invented have abandoned them.
[46:5] Who is farther astray than those who idolize beside GOD, idols, that can never respond to them until the Day of Resurrection, and are totally unaware of their worship?
[72:20] Say, "I worship only my Lord; I never set up any idols besides Him."
The word ‘kaba’ is only mentioned twice (5:95 & 5:97) throughout the Quran. The verses preceding, succeeding and therein, i.e. from 5:90 to 5:103, talk about livestock and not a ’stone structure’ or ‘GOD‘s House‘. If Aidid is incorrect to assert that the word ’kaba’ means “ankles” (which I personally believe he is correct when contextually understood since the verses refers to livestock), I certainly believe that it cannot possibly be an “idol” either as explained by some of the many verses above. Besides, how is it that ’kaba’ is only mentioned within the contexts of understanding “livestock” (food, hunting, etc.) while never got mentioned anywhere else throughout the entire Quran considering its divine importance, if at all. Perhaps we ought to study, examine and reflect upon this word further and more carefully as the entire “muslim” ummah revolves around it.
As a starter, if anyone could bring forth all the meanings of the word ’kaba’ from various Arabic dictionaries/encyclopedias, I believe we can better understand this word as per the verses that contain the word.
I beg to be disrespectful to anyone, for:
You shall not accept any information, unless you verify it for yourself. I have given you the hearing, the eyesight, and the brain, and you are responsible for using them.[17:36]

Re: Understanding the word "kaba"
Can you post the two ayahs that mention the Kaba in the quran or do you want me to do it for you??
And please also post the preceding and the succeeding ayahs which talk about "livestock" and since you haven't understood the context, I will explain it to you after you post the ayahs.

Re: Understanding the word "kaba"
Can you also post the ayahs 2:144 and 2:149?
Actually can you also post 2:150?
and 2:158, 2:125, 2:196, 2:200, 2:203, 3:97, 5:2, 5:95 (kaba mentioned here as well), 5:97 (kaaba mentioned here), 9:3, 22:27, 22:29 (circumambulation mentioned over here)
and a couple of ayahs preceding and following the above mentioned ayahs.
And I do not know of a single muslim who worships the kaaba or who asks the kaaba for forgiveness, or who asks the kaaba to fulfill their wishes (which is what I think idol worship means, unless you state otherwise!!).
Infact even when they are circumabulating the kaaba, they are actually calling out to Allah.

Re: Understanding the word "kaba"
I guess I will just go ahead and do all the posting.
5:95
O ye who believe! Kill not game while in the sacred precincts or in pilgrim garb. If any of you doth so intentionally, the compensation is an offering, brought to the Ka'ba, of a domestic animal equivalent to the one he killed, as adjudged by two just men among you; or by way of atonement, the feeding of the indigent; or its equivalent in fasts: that he may taste of the penalty of his deed. Allah forgives what is past: for repetition Allah will exact from him the penalty. For Allah is Exalted, and Lord of Retribution.
5:97
Allah made the Ka'ba, the Sacred House, an asylum of security for men, as also the Sacred Months, the animals for offerings, and the garlands that mark them: That ye may know that Allah hath knowledge of what is in the heavens and on earth and that Allah is well acquainted with all things.
It is very clear from the above ayahs that Allah is not talking about livestock but about sacrifices during the pilgrimage (Hajj). It is also very clear from the above ayahs that Kaaba has been referred to as the Sacred House in the Quran.
2:144
We see the turning of thy face (for guidance to the heavens: now Shall We turn thee to a Qibla that shall please thee. Turn then Thy face in the direction of the sacred Mosque: Wherever ye are, turn your faces in that direction. The people of the Book know well that that is the truth from their Lord. Nor is Allah unmindful of what they do.
2:149
From whencesoever Thou startest forth, turn Thy face in the direction of the sacred Mosque; that is indeed the truth from the Lord. And Allah is not unmindful of what ye do.
Two extremely clear ayahs (for the true believers) that one needs to face the Sacred Mosque (Kaaba) during prayers.
This does not mean that Muslims worship the Kaaba. And the one who says that it does, either does not know what worship means or does not know what an Idol means.
As far as 2:117 is concerned which says that
Righteousness is not turning your faces towards the east or the west.
I absolutely agree, if one does not know the direction of the kaaba or if one has calculated it wrongly, since sophisticated compasses did not exist at the time of the prophet or even hundreds of years after him, it did not matter if you were facing the kaaba precisely as has been made absolutely clear in the above ayah. There is no contradiction. Only people who want to create fitnah say there is.
2:158
Behold! Safa and Marwa are among the Symbols of Allah. So if those who visit the House in the Season or at other times, should compass them round, it is no sin in them. And if any one obeyeth his own impulse to good,- be sure that Allah is He Who recogniseth and knoweth.
This ayah is clear in what it says about Safa and Marwa and their importance during Hajj.
2:125
Remember We made the House a place of assembly for men and a place of safety; and take ye the station of Abraham as a place of prayer; and We covenanted with Abraham and Isma'il, that they should sanctify My House for those who compass it round, or use it as a retreat, or bow, or prostrate themselves (therein in prayer).
If it is not Kaaba that is referred over here as is believed by more than a billion muslims, can you tell me what Allah is referring to when he says "My House" over here? The practice of circumambulation is clearly mentioned.
2:196
And complete the Hajj or 'umra in the service of Allah. But if ye are prevented (From completing it), send an offering for sacrifice, such as ye may find, and do not shave your heads until the offering reaches the place of sacrifice. And if any of you is ill, or has an ailment in his scalp, (Necessitating shaving), (He should) in compensation either fast, or feed the poor, or offer sacrifice; and when ye are in peaceful conditions (again), if any one wishes to continue the 'umra on to the hajj, He must make an offering, such as he can afford, but if he cannot afford it, He should fast three days during the hajj and seven days on his return, Making ten days in all. This is for those whose household is not in (the precincts of) the Sacred Mosque. And fear Allah, and know that Allah Is strict in punishment.
The holy pilgrimage of Hajj mentioned to the Sacred Mosque (Kaaba) clearly mentioned.
2:200
So when ye have accomplished your holy rites, celebrate the praises of Allah, as ye used to celebrate the praises of your fathers,- yea, with far more Heart and soul. There are men who say: "Our Lord! Give us (Thy bounties) in this world!" but they will have no portion in the Hereafter.
What holy rites is Allah referring to over here? The Hajj of course.
2:203
Celebrate the praises of Allah during the Appointed Days. But if any one hastens to leave in two days, there is no blame on him, and if any one stays on, there is no blame on him, if his aim is to do right. Then fear Allah, and know that ye will surely be gathered unto Him.
What appointed days is Allah talking about? The month of Hajj of course.
3:97
In it are Signs Manifest; (for example), the Station of Abraham; whoever enters it attains security; Pilgrimage thereto is a duty men owe to Allah,- those who can afford the journey; but if any deny faith, Allah stands not in need of any of His creatures.
Pilgrimage is a duty men owe to Allah. What a beautiful statement. Nothing can be clearer than this. But then Allah has sealed the hearts of some so that they will not believe. "but if any deny faith, Allah stands not in need of any of His creatures. "
5:2
O ye who believe! Violate not the sanctity of the symbols of Allah, nor of the sacred month, nor of the animals brought for sacrifice, nor the garlands that mark out such animals, nor the people resorting to the sacred house, seeking of the bounty and good pleasure of their Lord. But when ye are clear of the sacred precincts and of pilgrim garb, ye may hunt and let not the hatred of some people in (once) shutting you out of the Sacred Mosque lead you to transgression (and hostility on your part). Help ye one another in righteousness and piety, but help ye not one another in sin and rancour: fear Allah: for Allah is strict in punishment.
Allah says - Violate not the sanctity of the symbols of Allah.
Exactly what Danish has been doing over here!!
9:3
And an announcement from Allah and His Messenger, to the people (assembled) on the day of the Great Pilgrimage,- that Allah and His Messenger dissolve (treaty) obligations with the Pagans. If then, ye repent, it were best for you; but if ye turn away, know ye that ye cannot frustrate Allah. And proclaim a grievous penalty to those who reject Faith.
The great pilgrimage refers to the one and only hajj performed by the prophet saw which clearly showed the true believers how to perform Hajj.
22:27
"And proclaim the Pilgrimage among men: they will come to thee on foot and (mounted) on every kind of camel, lean on account of journeys through deep and distant mountain highways;
People like Danish of course will not go.
22:29
"Then let them complete the rites prescribed for them, perform their vows, and (again) circumambulate the Ancient House."
Pretty clear.
So everything that the Muslims do as regards the Kaaba has been ordered by the Almighty and the beauty of this is they are still not doing Idol Worship. Those who say they do are just creating Fitnah.
5:95

If the amals perfomed by Muhammad are the latter ones as described by others, then surely Muhammad was a pedophile, a rapist, a liar, a sex maniac, a looter, a warrior, etc., etc., as per your "authentic ahadiths". But if the amals were obeyed and performed solely by the virtue and guise of Quran ALONE, then Muhammad was truely a blessed person. Hence the Quran clearly warns:
[7:186] Have they not looked at the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all the things GOD has created? Does it ever occur to them that the end of their life may be near? Which Hadith, beside this, do they believe in?
[12:111] In their history, there is a lesson for those who possess intelligence. This is not fabricated Hadith; this (Quran) confirms all previous scriptures, provides the details of everything, and is a beacon and mercy for those who believe.
[31:6] Among the people, there are those who uphold baseless Hadith, and thus divert others from the path of GOD without knowledge, and take it in vain. These have incurred a shameful retribution.
[39:23] GOD has revealed herein the best Hadith; a book that is consistent, and points out both ways (to Heaven and Hell). The skins of those who reverence their Lord cringe therefrom, then their skins and their hearts soften up for GOD's message. Such is GOD's guidance; He bestows it upon whoever wills (to be guided). As for those sent astray by GOD, nothing can guide them.
[39:29] GOD cites the example of a man who deals with disputing partners (Hadith), compared to a man who deals with only one consistent source (Quran). Are they the same? Praise be to GOD; most of them do not know.
[45:6] These are GOD's revelations that we recite to you truthfully. In which Hadith other than GOD and His revelations do they believe?
[52:34] Let them produce a Hadith like this, if they are truthful.
[68:44] Therefore, let Me deal with those who reject this Hadith; we will lead them on whence they never perceive.
[77:50] Which Hadith, other than this, do they uphold?
THE MESSAGE IS CLEAR AND OBVIOUS!!!
Re: Understanding the word "kaba"
Absolutely; which the so-called Muslims (sunnies/shias) lack.Originally posted by ado sayed:
CONTEXT IS VERY IMPORTANT WHEN YOU QUOTE QURAN. THIS THE GENERAL RULE.
The real culprits in this case are the sunnies and shias, the alleged muslims and the adherants of ahadiths (read my previous post), of the bifurcated Arabic Religion.ALL ANTI ISLAMIC WEBSITEs QUOTE QURAN OUT OF CONTEXT TO PROVE THEIR POINTS AND DISGRACE ISLAM
(THE MAIN OBJECTIVE).
The "kaba" (a sacred stone structure) and the "jamarah" (the devilish stone structures) are the cause and inheritance of the pagan idolworshipping cultures, similar to all other religions, specifically Hinduism. The word 'kaba' doesn't mean a "sacred house" nor a stone building as per the contexts of the verses.
The Arabs were the worst in disbelief and continued with their pagan idolworshipping schemes in their greed for creed, as seen until today, hence the exaltation and imploration of Muhammad and other individuals and authentication of upholding ahadiths.
