The one and only free public forum for Bohras. The focus of this forum is the reform movement, the Dawoodi Bohra faith and, of course, the corrupt priesthood. But the discussion is in no way restricted to the Bohras alone.

i happen to have a house in dubai, so i went there for mohramm this year... mostly because i wanted to go see my parents.. . and by the end of it, i was furious! thank you for telling me its reality.. but then, the rest of it?.. its bullshit.. at the top, i think we're muslims, and then we're bohri's..
i hate to say this, but in so many ways, bohri's degrade our religion..
whatever happened to the principles of islam!? and the teachings of Prophet Mohammed pbuh and Imam Ali..
whoever said wear bright colours and attract attention..
whoever said pay alot to the mosque and you'll be pushed forward..
whatever happened to equality within society
whatever happened to (i hate to say this..) ALLAH.. ever heard a bohri lady sigh?.. "ya maula".. whatever happened to "ya Allah"?
and whats with putting our hands together when we see maulana...
and whats the rush to see him? ..
and whats with being greedy.. ppl follow him worldwide, yet they still push, and their arrogant side comes out...
any consideration for the people that havent seen him?
okay, i understand that he's a powerful man.. whats the pleasure in seeing him?
"guna maaf taejas se..??" ( our sins will be forgiven?)
i agree with respecting him, he's our leader, the most powerful in the royal family..
but whats with all the ass kissing..?
kadambosi?... why?. i dont get it.. come on..its a fun thing to do. lets push, lets get squished between a few million poeple, and lets try and get to the front to kiss his feet..
you know what, i'm not even mad at maulana..i'm mad at the second circle. i'm sorry if i'm offending anyone.. but thats where all the chamchagiri starts.. all the money.. all the change in behaviour..
i think i'm neutral.. sometimes bohri's forget the Quran, and what it says, and what it teaches us..
so many things including what i've said need to be rethoughtover..

batool,

You have to be careful, cause there are morons who will label you as a wahabi / talibaan for expressing these views.

thanks anajmi, thanks for warning me. but who are these people to me?. does it make a difference to me if they call me a wahabi.. or whatever it is.. are they gonna hunt me down and write it on my forhead.
average bohra. please man, dont talk too much. dont talk like you know it all, i'm here expressing my opinion, who are you to label me a wahabi. i am a bohri, i'm using my freedom of speech and choice. do you know me at all, do you know what i do at all, i'm not gonna change what you beleive because its all upon faith. if you want to beleive all that .. then please. go ahead. dont stand there and point your finger at me, cause look at reality, your just pointing your finger at a statement through a COMPUTER, are you going to be able to change anything? change my view perhaps? hahaha, i laugh in ur face cause of that.
have i put on suicide vests, infact, i'm against it. do u follow the teaching of islam at all?.. it says fight for ur country, not ur religion. and you will be rewarded. but by commiting suicide and killing many innocent ppl is haraam. you have no idea who you're talking to.

Batool,

Ignore this bhand (hindi/urdu for a lowly entertainer). As you can see, NOT all people who come to this board are grown up. :)

i hate to say this, but in so many ways, bohri's degrade our religion..
whatever happened to the principles of islam!? and the teachings of Prophet Mohammed pbuh and Imam Ali..

It is Moulana Ali (as) not Imam, he wasn't an imam but a wasi...you would think all bohras would know that by this age...
whoever said wear bright colours and attract attention..

bright colors?! Are you calling white a bright color? or do you mean our ridas? they weren't bright, they were usually white, pink, yellow (not the eye blinding kind!), pastel colors, and such. If you are saying that those garbage bags are a better choice than i feel sorry for you! Our clothes are made attractive so the eye is looking upon the clothing and not the body of the person. with those black clothes, it is so similar that one looks straight away at the body, and with fashion those clothes HAVE gotten tighter and start to cling to the body to show the shape of the body rather than not attract eyes upon them.[/QB]

whoever said pay alot to the mosque and you'll be pushed forward..

where did you get this from? you are alloted seats according to where you came from, your family status (if you are well known [through your ways of khidmat no doubt]) and other reasons... i don't see how that relates to 'money'

whatever happened to equality within society
what happened to it? we still believe in equality. Just because some men are sheikhs or whatever that is in form of khidmat and/or knowledge, otherwise, we all refer to each other as brothers...where are you getting your ideas from?

whatever happened to (i hate to say this..) ALLAH.. ever heard a bohri lady sigh?.. "ya maula".. whatever happened to "ya Allah"?

when we need aid, we say ya maula, ya ali, ya hussain because they have told us to call them when we need them because they will help us. And ask yourself who they are, they are the walis of Allah and when you ask for their help, you ask for Allah's help...have you heard of a wasila? it almost works the same way...

and whats with putting our hands together when we see maulana...

It is a form of respect and to show gratitude

and whats the rush to see him? ..

many people haven't seen him ever. And he is our roohani bawa, who wouldn't want to be in his presence? Who wouldn't want to be there when he gives salami to all mumineen? I was there, and i have never felt more peaceful ever anywhere else than when he was there in front of my eyes.

and whats with being greedy.. ppl follow him worldwide, yet they still push, and their arrogant side comes out...
any consideration for the people that havent seen him?

well, it's not like anyone knows if the other person has seen him before, and even if he/she has, in that moment your desires to see moulana (tus) are so high (like everyone else) that the only thing that matters is that if YOU see him and recieve the barakat! and sometimes we do get a bit rowdy but hey we're all humans nonetheless and mistakes are made.

okay, i understand that he's a powerful man.. whats the pleasure in seeing him?
"guna maaf taejas se..??" ( our sins will be forgiven?)

the key word is BARAKAT!

i agree with respecting him, he's our leader, the most powerful in the royal family..
but whats with all the ass kissing..?
kadambosi?... why?. i dont get it.. come on..its a fun thing to do. lets push, lets get squished between a few million poeple, and lets try and get to the front to kiss his feet..

you get to be in his presence, you get to be so close to Him (tus), you get his barakaat and dua, he represents rasulullah (saw) and to do qadambosi and salam would be a great honor. How would it be to do qadambosi to rasulullah (saw) this is somehting quite similar...unfortunatly you do not understand this.

you know what, i'm not even mad at maulana..i'm mad at the second circle. i'm sorry if i'm offending anyone.. but thats where all the chamchagiri starts.. all the money.. all the change in behaviour..

ALL the CHANGE IN BEHAVIOUR you say...MONEY...CHAMCHAGIRI... to whom?!

i think i'm neutral.. sometimes bohri's forget the Quran, and what it says, and what it teaches us..
so many things including what i've said need to be rethoughtover..
ok YOU are definatly NOT neutral, you just insulted us to the worst and then claim to be neutral...we are not fools! you say we 'sometimes' forget the Quran, HOW so? Islam is a flawless religion and if there are any flaws than that means it is not right...so you either believe that we are right and flawless or wrong and contain flaws...which do you believe? and there is no such thing as neutral, as moulana ali (as) said, either be blind or be seeing, don't be one-eyed!

p.s. i'm new to this forum so i don't really know how to seperatly quote and answer and so what is bold is what batool said and my reply is the nonbold part, which you all must have guessed by now.

Tasneem,

If you say your prayers regularly, then you recite the surah alhumdulillah at least 17 times every day. In the surah you recite Iyaka Na budu wa Iyaka nastaeen. Do you know what it means?

well according to Bohra beliefs moulana (tus) is a naa'ib ... he represents Rasulullah (saw) ... i don't know what exactly you find wrong in that...

you're hating everything about Bohras so no doubt you're going to hate our clothes as well. I don't know about you but many people have complimented the style. What is so bad about it? If you prefer the black garbage bags then that's your problem.

actually.. they're quite elegant.. you need to OPEN your eyes to see them.
i dont know about you, but i was always taught to respect other people's opinions, choices, beliefs, morals, religions, nationality..etc. .. i respect what you believe in, and i think its quite nice that you are a strong bohri, but i'm not, i have different views, i think you should let me express them as i like..
oh it seems like its really easy to wind you up, imagine i get into the main, serious big issues, i'm talking about petty issues..

you're hating everything about Bohras so no doubt you're going to hate our clothes as well.
i dont think there can be a representation to rasulullah.. thats my opinion..
i feel a very big difference between me and u. i come from a quite liberal world.. mind you..that doesnt mean i drink or smoke or all that.. but i'm open to ideas and it seems like you're not..
made you need to relax and stop kissing ass to your community..

i'm hating everything about bohri's? i hate alot of things, but not everything, cause i am a bohri.. dont reply to things that you cant justify an argument to..
