Re: And the Bohris fall at the feet of Narendra Modi too
Why do we STILL not know about the killer of Narendra Modi’s Minister, Haren Pandya?
Each time Modi's name is raised, there are two voices that are heard. Both are very vociferous. One believes he is a criminal. The other that he is a saint.
Pandya was a formidable political rival for Modi within the state BJP. In May 2002, three months after the start of the riots, Pandya secretly gave a deposition to an independent fact-finding panel led by Justice VR Krishna Iyer. and described for the first time the meeting at Modi’s residence on the night of the train burning, at which Modi allegedly told his top police and intelligence officers that there would be justice for Godhra the next day, and ordered the police not to stand in the way of the “Hindu backlash”.
And so Modi denied Pandya the constituency he had represented for 15 years.
Three months later, in March 2003, on the day after Pandya received a fax from the party president ordering his shift to Delhi, he was murdered in Ahmedabad. The Gujarat police and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced that Pandya had been assassinated in a joint operation between Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and the Dubai-based underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Twelve men were arrested and charged with Pandya’s murder, but eight years later, in September 2011, the Gujarat High Court acquitted every single one and rubbished the entire case. “The investigation has all throughout been botched up and blinkered,” the judge said. “The investigating officers concerned ought to be held accountable for their ineptitude resulting into injustice, huge harassment of many persons concerned and enormous waste of public resources and public time of the courts.”
Pandya’s father, Vithalbhai, has publicly accused Modi of ordering his son’s killing, Vithal Pandya, had waged a long battle in this matter quite vociferous in stating that his son's murder was political. Now two sisters of Haren, along with Jagruti, have sought to reopen the case and have said that they would be representing to the Prime Minister.
According to the prosecution version, Haren Pandya was shot dead just as he arrived at Law Garden in his Maruti 800 for his morning walk around 7.20 am. The assailant pulled the trigger before he rolled up the window of his car and got out. But a forensic expert – who had deposed in the court – told me the injuries that Haren had showed that he could not have been shot from a gun pointing down at him (as would be if the assailant put the gun from outside). In fact the injuries had been down up. Add to this, the fact that no blood was found on the seat of the car and it is easy to see that Haren was probably murdered somewhere else and his body brought to the site from somewhere else in his car and dumped there.
Haren was the minister in the Gujarat government who had secretly deposed before the Citizen's Tribunal about the riots and let it know many facts then not public. He had also in a cabinet meeting advocated that the bodies of the victims of Godhra carnage not be brought to Ahmedabad because that would arouse passion. But he was shouted down at the meeting by some ministers.
After being forced out of electoral politics, Pandya was out in the cold contemplating what to do next when somebody decided to bump him off. The million dollar question is: who was that person?
Pandya reportedly told the tribunal that the post-Godhra massacres were orchestrated by Modi, his officials and members of the Sangh Parivar.

Re: And the Bohris fall at the feet of Narendra Modi too
The Modi Myth..
Did you know ?
Wages
The wage rates of casual and regular workers of both men and women workers in rural and urban areas are very low compared to other States. As per the latest National Sample Survey Office statistics, the daily wage rates of casual men and women workers in rural areas are lower than the corresponding rates in India, with the State ranking 14th (Rs.69) and ninth (Rs.56) in men’s and women’s wage rates respectively among the major 20 States. In the case of urban casual workers’ daily wages, the State ranked seventh (Rs.109) and 14th (Rs.56) for male and female wage rates. In the case of regular rural workers also the State ranked 17th (Rs.152) and ninth (Rs.108) in the male and female wage rates respectively. The corresponding ranks for urban areas are 18th (Rs.205) and 13th (Rs.182) respectively among the major 20 States in India. According to NSSO 2011 figures about 98 per cent of the women workers and about 89 per cent of the male workers in the State are engaged in informal work .
Nutrition
The NFHS-3 tells us that 47 percent of children below the age of three in the State were underweight. That figure was 45 per cent in NFHS-2. That’s about twice the average for sub-Saharan Africa. It is also marginally higher than the nationwideaverage of 46 per cent. The percentage of Gujarat’s children who are ‘wasted’ also went up from 16 to 17 per cent between the two NFHS surveys According to statistics from a report of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, “Children in India, 2012—A Statistical Appraisal”, between 40 and 50 per cent of children in Gujarat are underweight, which bursts one more myth in Gujarat’s story of growth. Other States in this low weight category are Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. Human Development Report 2011 said around half of Gujarat’s children were malnourished.
Gujarat is the 7th worst state in adult men having a body mass index of less than 18.5.
Infant mortality :
Infant mortality is high in Gujarat, which ranks 11th countrywide in the rate of decline of infant mortality. According to “Children in India, 2012”, the infant mortality rate in Gujarat was still high, with 44 fatalities of infants per 1,000 live births. In its 2012 State-wise report, the United Nation’s Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said, “Almost every second child in Gujarat under the age of five years is undernourished and three out of four are anaemic. Infant and maternal mortality rates have reduced very slowly in the last decade…. One mother in three in Gujarat struggles with acute under-nutrition….”
Child marriage :
Gujarat ranks fourth in reported cases of child marriage.
School dropout rate :
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) statistics show that Gujarat ranks 18th when it comes to success in keeping children in schools. 59% school drop out
The school life expectancy of children in Kerala (which ranks first) is 11.33 years, while that of children in Gujarat is 8.79 years.
Percentage of reduction of poverty :
Statistics of the NSSO show that the percentage of reduction of poverty between 2004 and 2010 was the lowest in Gujarat, at 8.6 per cent.
Water:
According to Census 2011, 43 per cent of the rural households in Gujarat get water supply on their premises and 16.7 per cent get treated water from a common tap
Toilets:
The data show that 67 per cent of rural households in the State have no access to toilets and members of more than 65 per cent of the households defecate in the open, very often polluting common water sources. Waste collection and disposal are matters practically unheard of. The State ranks 10th in the use of latrines
Comprehensive Environmental Pollution Index (CEPI):
Anything over 70 on this index is considered to have crossed critical levels, that is, the pollution exceeds the capacity of the environment to handle it and it becomes a dangerous health hazard. According to statistics from the Central Pollution Control Board, Ankleshwar and Vapi in Gujarat top the list of 88 severely polluted industrial areas in India. Ankleshwar has a CEPI rating of 88.50 while Vapi’s is 88.09. Of the 88 areas, eight are in Gujarat. Gujarat (918) stands 24th where kerala(1084) stands first.
Vaccination coverage :
In Gujarat percentage of children between 12-23 months of age who received all recommended vaccines is 45 % . that is in 19th among the states in India.

Indian Voters: Hold Chief Minister Narendra Modi accountable for human rights violations
In 2002, over a thousand Gujarati Muslims were killed when Modi failed to prevent targeted attacks against them. To this day he uses divisive Hindu nationalist rhetoric to maintain power in Gujarat and would now like to become India’s next Prime Minister. The continuation of Modi's leadership in any capacity whatsoever endangers India's future as a secular and pluralist nation.
We, concerned citizens from India, the United States, and around the world are outraged at the massive effort by Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of the Indian state of Gujarat, to erase from public memory the 2002 genocide that occurred in this state. This purposeful whitewash coincides with Modi’s efforts to become India’s next Prime Minister after the 2014 general elections. We object to the ongoing injustices perpetrated against the victims of this violence and demand that Modi’s culpability in these events be brought to light.
In 2002 Modi was responsible for the performance of state institutions and did nothing to prevent a series of attacks on Gujarati Muslims. Many reports indicate that Modi even condoned violence towards them and directed police and local officials not to protect them. The Indian National Human Rights Commission Report concluded that “There is no doubt, in the opinion of this Commission, that there was a comprehensive failure on the part of the State Government to control the persistent violation of the rights to life, liberty, equality and dignity of the people of the State.” The most conservative estimates are that over a thousand people, mostly Muslims, were murdered, raped, displaced, or dispossessed.
Since then, the Supreme Court of India has repeatedly faulted the Gujarat government for failing to prosecute those guilty of the crimes in 2002. Instead, Modi’s government has targeted whistle-blowers and activists who have tried to bring the guilty to justice. In February 2012, the Supreme Court of India again criticized the Gujarat government for using trumped-up charges to harass activists fighting for justice. We remain firmly opposed to Modi’s destructive brand of Hindu nationalist politics that has repeatedly violated the secular ideals enshrined in India’s Constitution. Modi’s callous disregard for the wellbeing of Indian minorities and refusal to address the horrific violence that occurred in 2002 should disqualify him from the ongoing stewardship of Gujarat let alone candidacy for Prime Minister.
We reject ongoing efforts by Modi and his allies to bury a history of human rights violations under a narrative of economic development. We find it astonishing that any individual or organization would endorse ideas about economic development that are rooted in the systematic oppression of minority populations, whether in India or elsewhere. As educators, doctors, lawyers, and entrepreneurs, we support conscientious and efficacious modes of economic organization, and unequivocally reject inhuman policies of politicians who not only lack a commitment to human rights and to ideals of social justice, but whose political success is based on the suppression of substantial sections of their own citizens.
We need an India where Modi is brought to justice for the numerous crimes that occurred on his watch rather than one where he is considered for the highest office in the land. This statement is a pledge to educate our communities about Modi’s troubling record and also to work for a secular and egalitarian future.

Re: And the Bohris fall at the feet of Narendra Modi too
Capping the Bohras’ unstinting praise for the murderer, Bohra chief, “Sayyidna,” our lord to his followers, Muhammad Burhanuddin met Modi in Ahmadabad in April 2008 as shown in Etemaad Daily of Hyderabad to shower his blessings! To anyone with any conscience, this act is an outrage. It is like a Jew complimenting Hitler, a Hyderabadi praising Sardar Patel, But then there is a long history of some victims kowtowing to the killers.
Public memory is too short; it may have forgotten that Muhammad Burhanuddin’s father, Tahir Sayfuddin (1915-65), was the first to congratulate Sardar Patel upon successful completion of Indian army’s Operation Polo in 1948, in which thousands of innocent, unarmed Muslims were killed. In other words, the actions of the Daudi Bohra chiefs are consistent through history: curry the favor of the rulers, even if killers, even if the killers are elected leaders of an avowedly secular state, subject to public and international accountability.
Kowtowing to the killers is not new; its practitioners include self-appointed, dynastic sectarian leaders like Muhammad Burhanuddin, ministers hankering after powers, businessmen seeking protection for their companies, scholars seeking filthy lucre and the like. So it is unsurprising that some Muslims are supporting a murderer like Modi. Barred from travel just about everywhere, the Daudi Bohras’ praises must be music to the murderer. I have been an admirer of Daudi Bohras’s economic self-reliance and their superb educational institutions. In fact, I advised fellow Muslims to emulate the Daudi Bohras as models of self-reliance. But that does not preclude my abhorrence at the appalling conduct of some Bohras in kowtowing to the killer. No one needs to question what the Daudi Bohra beliefs are, for it is their prerogative, but anyone believing in justice and accountability cannot but be outraged at Burhanuddin and his followers obsequious kowtowing to Modi.

Open letter to #FICCI on Narendra Modi hiding the Truth about Women in Gujarat #Vaw #Womenrights
Dear Madams of FICCI,
From reports in media we have understood that our Chief Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi has impressed you all with his hard-hitting eloquence. On reading and hearing report of the speech, we, the women of Gujarat were wonder-struck ! Was he speaking of women in Gujarat? Was he revealing the whole truth? Certainly not. So we thought that we could enlighten you all about the reality in Gujarat.
Maternal mortality rate and Infant mortality rate do not come down; mothers and children keep dying in Gujarat or continue to survive as weaklings.
We have noted how young mothers die of malnourishment. Lack of treatment (because no government dispensary, block or district hospital has a gynecologist appointed, large city hospitals provide such facility) is one more obvious reason.. No wonder that many women deliver babies in the ambulance like buses known as 108 service. Governance of Gujarat’s government does not seem to follow any policy for saving young women’s lives.
Very recently, a resident doctor died of Dengue fever in Ahmedabad’s large Civil Hospital and many more are now dying of Swine flu in Gujarat.
Education for girls was free. In last couple of years the government has stopped encouraging continuation of such schools and colleges. Now girls have to pay hefty fees if they choose to get ‘good’ education. That is the Governance in Gujarat.
Increase in crimes in Gujarat is phenomenal during last decade. Robberies and murders of old people, including women are reported every other day. 235 rapes were registered in 2001, in 2011 the number is 413. Kidnappings have increased from 731 in 2001 to 1329 in 2011. The police stations do not want to register crimes because they are reprimanded if the number of crimes increases. Gujarat has to be shown as Crime Free State so less registration is better from governance point of view. We are aware of circulars that ask the policemen down the line not to register women’s complaints in the first instance, they take ‘applications’. Reduced crime rate could vouch for good governance in Gujarat.

The name feku has stuck to Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi in cyberspace because of his tall claims. Ajay Umat recalls some of Modis lofty dreams before he was called the vote ka saudagar
Farmers to sell petrol
In 2005,when the US denied him a visa,Modi said he will make Gujarat such a destination that one day the state will be compared with the US.He said farmers would be like Arab sheikhs and will soon see crude oil pouring out of taps in their fields.Farmers would sell pouches of petrol and diesel instead of milk.
REALITY
Too good to be true.Leave alone petrol, diesel and milk,Gujarat today faces acute water scarcity.
Gas bag
On June 25,2005,Modi announced the biggest ever gas find in India, valued at around Rs 2L cr.Modi announced that Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) had discovered 20tcf of gas, more than the total gas find of India,at KG basin off Andhra coast. But the DG (hydrocarbons),the central regulator, countered saying the find was not more than 2tcf.
REALITY
After spending Rs 12,000 crore of public money, not one cubic meter of gas has come out. From exploration,GSPC has gone into trading.CAG has often slammed the GSPC.
Bringing alive Saraswati
Modi announced in 2006 that he would bring the Saraswati alive by inter-linking rivers.
REALITY
Water was pumped into the dry Saraswati riverbed with the help of pipeline just for a day-long tamasha in Siddhpur which was attended by Modi and many Hindu seers.
Sardar Sarovar Project by 2010
In the budget speech of 2007-08,he said the Completion of Sardar Sarovar Project by the year 2010 was an important Golden Goal to mark the 50 years of formation of Gujarat.
REALITY
Only 35% command area is covered and it may take another five years to complete the project.CAG has said that lack of canals has led to non achievement of targeted irrigation benefits and unproductive expenditure or thousands of crores of rupees.
Kalpasar Project - distant dream
In 2004,Modi inaugurated the Kalpasar project in Bhavnagar and announced that it was estimated to cost about Rs 54,000 crore. This project envisages the construction of a 64-km dam across the Gulf of Khambhat.Modi claimed that this dream project would be completed in record time.
REALITY
This project remains on paper and is at pre-feasibility stage.

US religious body concerned over Modi entry into US
Washington, May 1 (IANS) A US federal advisory body has reiterated its concerns about Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's admissibility to the US due to his alleged "complicity in the 2002 riots" in the state.
Modi, the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) Tuesday noted, was the only individual in whose case a provision of the International Religious Freedom Act (IRFA) was invoked in March 2005 to bar his entry. IRFA bars the entry of such individuals "responsible for or directly carried out...particularly severe violations of religious freedom."
USCIRF said it wrote to the then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2012 about the possibility that Modi might apply for a visa, to reiterate its concerns about his admissibility to the United States.
In its 2013 annual report, the federal advisory body that monitors religious freedom abuses abroad, said USCIRF continues to urge the Departments of State and Homeland Security to develop a lookout list of aliens who are inadmissible to the US States on this basis.
The report places India and seven other nations on its "Tier 2 List" where "governments engage in or tolerate are particularly severe, and meet at least one criterion, but not all, of IRFA's three-fold "systematic, ongoing, egregious" standard.

Re: And the Bohris fall at the feet of Narendra Modi too
The reality of Modi’s politics
The signal that Modi has consistently sent out is that he is going to be tough on Muslims, and if his team makes an error, he will not back off from supporting them
Let’s look at the myth of Narendra Modi as a development candidate. There is no problem with the idea of him being projected as a candidate, or even as THE candidate, for development. This is because it is a good and positive approach in what is generally a country where politics is done on the basis of identity, not policy or governance. However, is the claim true?
Many in the BJP — Smriti Irani is one — have said that nobody else in India has ever campaigned on development alone. Modi is the only man not to divide the electorate by talking of identity issues.
Let us assume that this is the case, and that Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi, others in parties like the CPI(M), and Jawaharlal Nehru and Atal Behari Vajpayee before them, demanded votes purely on the basis of caste and religion.
But even if we were to accept that this were so, it must be recognized that development is only a part of Modi’s appeal and attraction.
In Gujarat, as elsewhere, the BJP is essentially a caste-based party. Its primary vote bank is the peasant Patel, whom the rebel Keshubhai tried unsuccessfully to break in the last elections.
To illustrate this, let’s look at the numbers. Four out of nine ministers in Modi’s previous Cabinet and three out of seven in his current one are Patels. This is vote bank politics, not development politics, because in choosing his ministers, Modi looks at their caste.
And so it’s wrong to say that the Gujarat BJP, including Modi, spurns caste politics. The second aspect of identity politics is the politics of religion.
It is difficult to be convinced that Modi’s appeal to a segment of the Gujarati population is not because of his tough and uncompromising Hindutva. Let’s look at examples here.
When his minister Maya Kodnani was convicted for the killing of 95 Gujarati Muslims last year, Modi did not condemn her. Actually when most Gujaratis knew of her involvement in the massacre at Naroda Patiya, Modi first gave her a ticket to contest and then made her minister.
She has been sentenced to 28 years in jail for her actions, but he has avoided taking questions about her crimes. When his deputy home minister Amit Shah was jailed after being charged in a case where a Muslim man and his wife were wrongly killed, Modi backed him. In fact, he had him elevated a few weeks ago to the post of general secretary in the BJP.
The signal that Modi has consistently sent out is that he is going to be tough on Muslims, and if his team makes an error, and even if they are convicted of crimes against Muslims, he will not back off from supporting them and he will not condemn them.
He doesn’t disown them, and doesn’t distance himself from their awful actions because this is an achievement that has brought him the admiration of many in the Gujarati middle class. Modi doesn’t need to advertise this side to his divisive politics because the media does it for him. He says that he is unfairly accused, but the facts are quite clear, as we can see.
We can continue to talk about him as a development candidate, but the reality of his politics does not validate that claim.

Re: And the Bohris fall at the feet of Narendra Modi too
U.S. panel wanted to “push back strongly” on pro-Modi lobbies
After a U.S. panel monitoring violations of religious freedom abroad urged the State Department to not reconsider its 2005 decision to deny a visitor visa to Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat, its Chairperson has said that its recent actions were designed to “push back strongly” on any movement toward softening the U.S. stance on this issue.
In a phone conversation with The Hindu, Katrina Lantos Swett said that the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom’s (USCIRF)concern about the Modi case arose from its view that a “climate of impunity” was fuelled by the “failure of the Indian government to move with appropriate speed to closure on prosecuting those implicated” in cases of religious violence.
In its annual report, the USCIRF had noted that Mr. Modi should be “inadmissible to the U.S.” due to “severe violations of religious freedom,” a reference to his presiding over Gujarat in 2002, when riots claimed the lives of a thousand people or more, many Muslim.
Speaking to media earlier, Ms. Swett had said that there was “significant evidence linking him to the violence and the terrible events that took place in Gujarat and for this reason, a visa would not be appropriate.”
Ms. Swett further told The Hindu that the Commission was aware that the U.K. and Sweden have “softened their previously stronger stances on engaging with Mr. Modi,” and that some persons or groups in the U.S. were lobbying for a similar softening.
Arguing that the USCIRF saw it fit to “push back strongly on that,” Ms. Swett suggested that the U.S. should not be seen as being “all too willing to set aside human rights concern in pursuit of economic interests.”
In terms of the specific concerns regarding Mr. Modi’s alleged responsibility for the Gujarat violence, Ms. Swett indicated that the Commission had taken note of the affidavit filed by Sanjiv Bhatt, and particularly made note of his claim there that Mr. Modi had asked police officials to allow Hindus to vent their anger against Muslims in the wake of the Godhra incident.
She also said that the USCIRF had factored in the February 2012 Gujarat High Court ruling that said that “inadequacy, inaction and negligence” by the State government had led to the destruction of religious structures across the State and ordered compensation for more than 500 structures.
Further concerns about Mr. Modi’s alleged complicity were raised by the guilty verdict and the 28-year sentence handed out to Maya Kodnani in the context of the Narodya Patiya massacre near Ahmedabad, Ms. Swett said, referencing the involvement of the political leadership in Gujarat that this verdict implied.
In its annual report, the USCIRF reiterated this view, saying, “It was widely reported in the media that many in the Muslim community believe [Kodnani] was the ‘fall guy’ for Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujarat at the time of the riots.”
While she confirmed that on November 14, 2012 the USCIRF wrote to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton requesting that the “possible U.S. visa application by Narendra Modi... be denied until there is full transparency into the violence in 2002,” Ms. Swett did not rule out repeating that advice to the present Secretary, John Kerry, should that be appropriate.
Underscoring the panel’s perception of “complicity by state government officials,” Ms. Swett said, “There is certainly a lot of troubling evidence, of sins of omission if not commission.”

Re: And the Bohris fall at the feet of Narendra Modi too
Voice of victims
The Muslim community, discriminated against and pushed to the fringes of society in Gujarat, points to the dangers of having Narendra Modi at the helm of the country.
GUJARAT CHIEF MINISTER NARENDRA MODI’S SPIN doctors have been portraying him as the new messiah of the country. In their enthusiasm to project him as the next Prime Minister, they even claim that he has appeased the minorities (read Muslims), and that they have apparently begun to accept him as a leader worth reckoning.
But the ground reality is something else. “If he becomes the Prime Minister, he will turn the country into another Gujarat. He is the country’s biggest enemy. He does not believe in democracy, peace, communal harmony or anything that India stands for. He has brought so much suspicion and distrust in Gujarat that he will ruin the country,” says Yusuf Pathan, a survivor of the 2002 communal riots in Mehsana district. “Modi is no messiah. Whatever development is seen in Gujarat has come from the Central government. He is fooling everyone by making them believe it is he who is taking Gujarat forward.”
The majority of Muslims across Gujarat will concur with Pathan’s views. Frontline travelled to several parts of the State to understand the condition of the minority communities, particularly Muslims, who are perhaps the most persecuted community in Gujarat, and check the veracity of the development claims.
Whether it is access to housing, employment and education or the exercise of fundamental rights, Muslims, who constitute about 9 per cent of the population, are marginalised or treated as second-class citizens. The injustices done to them are so blatant that it is hard to believe that Modi has any desire to appease these sections.
There are plenty of indicators to prove that Gujarat under Modi has no place for minorities. Several recent reports and analyses show that the Muslims of Gujarat are among the poorest and most discriminated against community in the country. Additionally, the employment of tactics such as amending laws to suppress the community establishes Modi’s agenda.

Re: And the Bohris fall at the feet of Narendra Modi too
US panel wants Modi included on lookout list besides visa ban
Katrina Lantos Swett, chair, United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, tells Rediff.com's Aziz Haniffa that the USCIRF will be uncompromising about denying Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi entry into the US.
"We remain very concerned about the issue of Modi and have expressed that to the State Department," Swett told Rediff.com
"There is significant evidence linking him to the violence and the terrible events that took place in Gujarat in 2002," Swett asserted, "and that for this reason a visa would not be appropriate."
Swett, who released USCIRF's 2013 annual report last week, said, "I referenced some aspects of the International Religious Freedom Act original legislation and the renewed IRFA legislation that calls for a look list that keeps those who have been involved in religious freedom violations from getting entry into our country."
"This calls on the president to actually create a list and publish the names of those who have had a role in religious freedom abuses," she added, "and so, we are very strong and firm in sticking by that approach."
The report said, 'An IRFA issue relevant to both the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security relates to the admission to the United States of aliens who were "responsible for or directly carried out... particularly severe violations of religious freedom."'
When this correspondent pointed out to Swett that several US lawmakers have called on the State Department to issue Modi a visa. At a time when trade supercedes issues like human rights and religious freedom, how could the USCIRF continue to block the State Department from ultimately issuing the chief minister a visa, particularly since there is now considerable American investment in his state?
"You ask one of the most important questions that face all people engaged in advancing human rights -- which is, how to keep human rights concerns and in this case, religious freedom issues, from being sidelined or set aside in the pursuit of the almighty dollar," Swett responded.
"The way in which one does it is by not permitting, for example, the history of Minister Modi and the information and the legal records that have been established there, from being forgotten and making it politically uncomfortable and difficult for these concerns to be sidelined and to be set aside," Swett added.
"Our laws contemplate that individuals who are implicated in severe human rights abuses are not to be given visas to come to this country. We just saw Congress pass the very important piece of legislation -- the Magnitsky Bill -- that specifically reiterates this policy as it relates to officials implicated in the death of a young, crusading lawyer in Russia."
"And, you know, it's entirely possible that leaders in Congress might seek to have a resolution or legislation related to individuals in India," she warned.

"And, you know, it's entirely possible that leaders in Congress might seek to have a resolution or legislation related to individuals in India," she warned.

BJP SUFFERS A HUMILIATING DEFEAT IN THE STATE OF KARNATAKA.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall, and all of Modi's rallies could not save the party to even come second in the state. Hindutva hriday samrat could not even beat some unheard of rural party to second place.

Re: And the Bohris fall at the feet of Narendra Modi too
Modi was expected to be the trump-card of the BJP in the state of Karnataka but since there were clear indicators that the battleground was not too favourable for the BJP (and he usually goes only where he can fool people or is sure of victory), he campaigned in just three constituencies all of which met with disastrous results for his party !
The half-truths and the lies which he foisted on people and very particularly about the so-called “development model” of Gujarat which is only pro-rich and pro-vested interests, did not cut ice with the people who went to hear him. When
the social indicators of Gujarat State are far below several other States in the country; where a ‘Freedom of Religion Law’ contravenes Article 25 of the Constitution and where in Modi’s own constituency, Maninagar, right-wing Hindu elements have decided that from 2015, the State of Gujarat will become a “Hindu State”, there is precious little that the thinking citizen of the country can really expect, from such a person.

Modi’s embarrassing vist to Oman
In November, 2009 a few days before his propsed visit to Oman, Narendra Modi was humiliated. The embassy of Oman issued a statement stating that the Oman government had nothing to do with Mod’s visit and he was being hosted by a private port company. The statement left the CM red faced because he had earlier claimed that he was going to Oman on an official visit. The embassy issued this clarification after protests from human rights groups saying that Modi should not be permitted to enter Oman because of the role he and his government played during the 2002 Gujarat riots.

Re: And the Bohris fall at the feet of Narendra Modi too
Not only the Alavi Bohra Dai but even some shia/sunni kiss Modi's a@@@rse. The sunni Shahnawaz Hussain is a prominent BJP leader who was also a minister in Vajpayee's cabinet and the Shia hypocrite Mukhtar Abbas Naqwi is the current General Secretary of the communal BJP party. Both these leaders were not only totally silent during the 2002 Gujarat Mass Genocide of Muslims but even defended the Yazeed Narendra Modi on news channels.
So, two wrongs do not make one right.

Re: And the Bohris fall at the feet of Narendra Modi too
There are rotten apples in every sect/religion but what is most disturbing is that when so called spiritual leaders like the Alavi Dai and the Bohra Dai who calls himself an ambassador of peace kisses the ar@@se of the Yazeed of today who has not only violated every possible human right but is directly responsible for killing Muslims in the most brutal manner. These leaders represent an entire sect and every action taken by them speaks for the whole sect that they represent. With regard to the sunni jamat leader and Maulana madani, the less said the better because they are sheer opportunists who change colours like a chameleon and they will sleep with any leader/party which benefits them.badrijanab wrote:Newspaper: Indian Express

Re: And the Bohris fall at the feet of Narendra Modi too
Mawiya was the leader of his time, his action of murdering Imam Hasan a.s. is it equal to whole Islam murdering Imam Hasan a.s.? No. Because Mawiya is the leader so does his personal action is equal to action of Sunni sects?ghulam muhammed wrote: These leaders represent an entire sect and every action taken by them speaks for the whole sect that they represent.
Burhanuddin sahab & family is NOT EQUAL to Dawoodi Bohra sect, like Mawiya is not equal to Islam.
So leaders action doesn't speak for the sect itself from which that leaders belongs.
The entire Sunni Jamat of some place have gifted Hanuman and Krishan artifacts to Modi - this is worst in compare to Burhanuddin sahab offering Modi millions of rupees ignoring his own poor community members!
Re: And the Bohris fall at the feet of Narendra Modi too
The irony of it all is that when a few Dawoodi Bohras act on their own, then it is the whole DB community that is bad, but when a group of Sunni Muslims, representing the community, do something..... well... they are just a few rotten apples....
why the double standards GM saab?

Re: And the Bohris fall at the feet of Narendra Modi too
Because DB's dont do any thing on their own, every thing is done by the raza of Syedna even they fart after taking his raza, and its not just common bohris who are hobnobbing with the butcher of Muslims but the example is set by their haqiqi Kaaba himself by giving a crore Rs cheque in Ahmadabad Masjid, sitting with him on stage for his Birthday celebration in Surat, His Son Huzaifa cutting cake for his father's Bday celebration, List is almost endless where the top clergy of Bohras has hobnobbed with Modi whereas if only 1-2 Muslims go for these photo ops than its not even grains of salt and should be taken like that onlyzinger wrote:The irony of it all is that when a few Dawoodi Bohras act on their own, then it is the whole DB community that is bad, but when a group of Sunni Muslims, representing the community, do something..... well... they are just a few rotten apples....

in that case then, the sunni muslims were acting on authority of the Imam of Jama Masjid, or whoever it is, who is highest in the Sunni religous hierarchy. Ok!
and i sincerely doubt it was just 1 or 2 sunnis who went
End of story now.

IT will take some time for you to understand that Muslims dont need a leader as such, Quran and Sunna is enough for Guidance, Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid is NOT the leader of Muslims but Syedna is for Bohras.
You have done one correct thing of coming to this site, continue here and you will learn a lot, I welcome your questions and jibes because they will make you read more and with reading comes understanding and unlearning of what Kothar has done to you.
Re: And the Bohris fall at the feet of Narendra Modi too
So, we should follow fatwa from Deobandis and become wahabismized. Other sects of Islam, the Sunnis in particular who do not have a leader are clear example of people gone astray. Compare them with Bohras.. Bohras allow women in Masjid, Bohras don't let their women cover up in black, Bohras don't stop women from pursuing education, working etc... Bohras do not issue stupid fatwas.. Bohras under the leadership of successive Duats have come to this stage.. Yes, the affluence today has corrupted many aspects but all is not lost... Bohras in previous era had gone away from Dawat (a time when there was no affluence, no moeny involved), but the Dawat is still continues.asad wrote:

Did I mention to go to any Moulwi or become wahabi, I just told not to follow someone and do your own reading, We are educated people and have a basic understanding of things, Read Quran in a language you can understand and do some research of your own on topics you have doubt, if still you dont understand than ask few knowledgeable people around that should solve almost all your queries.wise_guy wrote:So, we should follow fatwa from Deobandis and become wahabismized. Regarding second part of your post.
Their is a seprate prayer space for women in All masjids in Gulf region probably our Indian counterparts need to learnBohras allow women in Masjid
Than they are going against the practice of Ahle Bayt and Bohras till 40 years backBohras don't let their women cover up in black
Syedna is asking them to marry early and Mansoos in the recent bayan told women to go for Home science I dont see how its helping Bohra women in their education and working out.Bohras don't stop women from pursuing education, working etc
No they just do stupic bayans of talking horses, Mansoos talking to his dead bro, Lakho farishta in khidmat of Syedna who orders one of them to go and help people in distress.Bohras do not issue stupid fatwas

thank you Asad. Believe it or not, coming to this site has opened my eyes to a great deal, no doubt, will give the devil his due, but it has also made many other turn their eyes away, me too many a times, with the rubbish and filth that is often posted here.
my jibes, rest assured, are never personal and they will certainly not be without reason. i am not in the habit of shouting and abusing and making fun of people just because they do not see things the way i do, but yes, when you abuse something that we hold dear, our culture, traditions, our Dai, then yes, i will jibe, if i might have poked fun at someone in the past, then it has always been in good humour and not spite, unless it was spite that i got
Re: And the Bohris fall at the feet of Narendra Modi too
Dais have been appointed by nas and I respect the nas, thats all. I don't want to do as the Sunnis did -> 'Didn't agree to the nas of Rasullulah (SAW) on Maula Ali (AS)' or do you have doubt on that nas as well..asad wrote:
