What is Wajebaat/Zakat/Khums/Najwas ?

I am asking this question here as i hope i get the right answers. What is Wajebaat, Zakat and Khums ? Is there any fixed amount for that or is it upto our desire. If thats the case then why we pay fixed amount every year. Not just fixed every year it increases. I would really appreciate if someone can throw some light on this questions. Thankyou.

I am not a learned man but having paid these things over a long time I have some familiarity of it. let me give it a try :

Wajebaat ---- this word is plural of what is wajib. and wajib means you are required to pay, zakaat is wajib, khums is wajib, silat is wajib. when all these are combined in one collection Form it is called Wajebaat.

Zakaat is the 2.5% you pay on the savings that you had for one year, but the new definition is whatever Aamil asks, it could be on total income which would lot higher than savings.

Khums in Arabic means 1/5 of your unexpected windfall, excess profit or sudden inheritance of wealth or lottery winnings etc. etc. if you didn't have any of these during the past year, they still collect it from you for good measure and to increase their numbers. the more they collect the more they can keep as their haq for collecting.

Najwa is a fancy word for salaam/nazrana. This should be whatever you wish to give, but here again you are forced to give more and more.

The reason you are made to pay increasingly more every year from the past year is just their greed.

Zakat and Sadaqa are the obligatory payments in consonance to Quran and Sunnah !
The rest which prevails in the bohra community are just given fancy names , and are not used in the way of Allah , rather ; to make sure the priests Royal family are able to meet their costly expenditures such as first class travels , expensive clothing , foreign education , and the best food the world has to offer.
Just pay zakat and give Sadaqa , and Allah (SWT) shall reward you in both this earth and the hereafter.
Paying unscrupulous fees to the hierarchy is waste and ungodly ! Remember , it's because of what people pay in ignorance that he is able to lead a plush lifestyle and further misguide people.
The moment people abandon this Bida payments , the leadership will crumble and their lifestyle too ! So think wise next time anyone plans on paying !

regarding zakat you can read in QURAAN

and all other things are extras with no place in Islaam.

Allah subhanu just wants people to do charity and it can be in any form, even if u donate it to any poor man or woman it is counted as zakaaat.

The way to distribute Zakat is given in the Holy Quran
Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verse 60:
"Zakat Collections are for the needy, and the indigent, and for those who are employed to collect them, and for those whose hearts are to be won over, and for the ransoming of slaves, and for helping the debtors, and the way of Allah, and for the hospitality of the way-farers. This is an obligatory duty (for the believers) from Allah. And Allah is All-Knowing, All- Wise."

I will coz theres no one here to say that this comes in Ta'wil or Haqeeqat and simply avoid my questions. Why do most of Bohris think that when u question something it means u doubt it. What if I question to seek knowledge about it. No one takes in that perspective. Once i Questioned that why bohris wear silver ring in the pinky, As i mostly wear in the third finger. They said dont question it. Its all Ta'wil. And i just go blank. Anyways. As far as this forum goes, i can atleast get some reasonable information from you guys.

there is nothing called tawill or so called hidden knowledge, and no one has any access to such thing, this is all myth created to keep people ignorant and make them follow bunch of losers.

every thing is so clear in QURAAN even a lay man can and understand if he/she has real intention to learn.

muslim brother, you said earlier to pay zakat and sadka money to the dai. The dai and his government do not just accept zakat and sadaka. They call it wajebaat and comprises a lot of money under different titles. The quran is very specific in stating that zakaat is for the poor and needy and the orphans. Then do you think it would be o.k. to give zakaat and sadka and other monies to the children of the dais when everyone knows they live a life of extreme luxury. would it not be better to donate this money to a worthwhile cause . edhi come to mind since i am very familiar with mr. sattar edhi ,right from kharadhar and mithadhar. I say to the mumineen, look around you and you will find many a zakaat deserving people right in your extended family that you can help and sawaab is the same wether the needy or orphan is named joe or jonah or jamal
