deedar

I guess throngs of people from all corners of the globe will gather in Surat for a fortnight of countless 'deedar' and maatam.

I was curious about the concept of deedar. Does it have any Quranic/Islamic backing ? Local aamils often ask the question "when was the last time you did deedar?" I fail to see how this has anything to do with your faith or the community.

Deedar of Sayedna is considered a fundamental corner stone of the Bohra religion, even surpassing the prayers, fasting etc. This is so because the Bohra's belief is that their Maula will save them from the hell fire and lead them to paradise. So it does not matter if you pray or not. So long as you have done the "deedar" or "qadam bossi" of your Maula, its enough to gurantee you a place in Paradise.

Brother Hur, who I now consider an expert on the Bohra religion, can add further.

Lets sit back and think for a minute. If after 1400 years, the true Islam was practiced only by the one million odd Bohra's, why did God send all these Prophets and why did out Prophet (PBUH) suffered so much. ( Bohra's believe that they are the only ones to enter Paradise and all other mortals, be they be Sunni, Ithna Shris, Agha Khani's have a one way ticket to hell)!!!!

Dear Abde Sayedna

Why don't you answer the question raised about "deedar" instead of raving and ranting. Nobody is questioning the authority of God or his Prophets. We are all interested to know if 'deedar' will guarantee a place in heaven. If yes, please inform everyone of this super easy way of entering heaven.

Hur is in Surat where tamasha is currently going on. The drama in on and bohras are having deedar and qadam bossi. What a gala.

Brother Khan - why do u seek explanation for deedar??? You KNOW and have written it is WRONG. There is nothing as deedar. bohras are asked to keep photo of burhan every where..!!! so deedar is always there. Beacause of this deedar and qadam bossi bohras will surely go to HELL.

Add one more thing to deedar. Burhani Sandas.!!

Went for Waaz a couple of times in my local jamaat and the dude here sits on a Takhat and directly above him is a picture of Syyedna. This dude keeps pointing to the picture every now and then. We are only a step away from deifying the Da'i and making an idol of him. Wonder when it'll happen .. probably sooner than later.

Just want Hur ( a non Bohra ) to expalin why this deedar thing is so important and is it applicable for the Ithna Shris also. If yes, whose deedar do they do, as their Imam is in hiding.

No harm explaining. Deedar - i cannot but laugh..!!

For shias Deedar is i guess not that important for now as they wait for Imam, when (if ever) he comes they will have deedar..!!! They already do purjosh matam and bleed and cry (but not follow) for Hussain - for them that is sufficient a gurantee for Janat.

Don't you think this deedar makes one sick, the other day i stared at a photo of burhan and since that time i m having you know what..!!!
