There are several messages on this board about, Bohri, Ismaili, Ithnaashari and all these faiths were called religion. In my opinion these are not the religions, these are the faiths. Islam is the religion, like Christianity, Judism and Hinduism.

Belief is an idea to which mind is attached and its source is a person's sense of safety in accepting the idea. Unexamined belief is subject to attack and ridicule by opposing beliefs.

Primary reason for Bohras acceptance of their beliefs is fear; and fear is caused by their refusal to examine their beliefs. Hence Faith is the correct term to apply to Bohraism.

Religion, on the other hand, is recognition of, obedience to, and worship of a higher, unseen power. Responsible acceptance of religion requires rigorous examination of beliefs, which must stand the test of time. Bohras recognize, obey and worship seen, not unseen, power. Hence Bohraism is not a religion.

Religion, in the institutional sense, of obedience to political establishment like the Catholic Church, is neither faith nor religion.
