Surah Fatiha marks the start of new parliamentary session

The Government of British Columbia had called upon the Ismaili Council for British Columbia to deliver a prayer in the Legislature to mark the start the new parliamentary session. The quranic recitation in Arabic — followed by its English translation — preceded the Throne Speech read by the Honourable Judith Guichon, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia.

reciting surah is no big deal, many wahabia are best recitor of quran, but yet they act against Quran every other day....act on Quran is more important.ask your play boy imam to cut down on ayyashi that will be true recitation of Quran.

I think you are raising a few points here -

1. You are rejecting the recitation of sure fatiha and calling it no big deal - It may not be a big deal for you, but it is a big deal for us. Our prophet Muhammad, called this sura, mother of quran. Prophet Muhammad said this (Fatiha) is something which has not been revealed in the Torah, the Injeel, the Zabur, nor the Qur'an (at-Tirmidhi)".

Starting a parliamentary session of a christian majority country with Al-Fatiha is quit an honor.

2. You are calling Aga khan a play boy. Well its nothing new. Some people call Prophet Muhammad the ideal for everyone a play boy as well. So its not a big deal. Some non-believers has been doing this in entire history. They come, they go, but were are here to stay.

3. You want Aga Khan to reject Allah and his way and follow your way: You should go and ask Aga Khan, rather than asking me, I am not his Imam, he is my Imam.

Here are my 2 cents in the words of Imam Jafar as-Sadiq

"If you find something you don’t like in a brother, try to find 1 of 70 excuses for him. And if you can’t find an excuse, say ‘There might be an excuse, but I don’t know it."

Since you have already rejected Prophet Muhammad and reciting of Fateha, now you are going to say who is this Jafar as Sadiq. He may not be anything for you, but for us he was an Imam, a big scholar.

Did you even watch the video? It was for the celebration of his visit. It isn't mujra or whatever you call it. It was an event showcasing the traditional dance and talents of the country in which he visits by murids. Can you show me where in Islam it states you cannot dance? When he visited Canada, we had a performance from choir, traditional dances, and other talents from our local community. When I first saw your post, I thought you were someone intelligent, but it turns out you are just accusing people on baseless speculation or just following Islam as prescribed by the ignorants.

Did bad mouthing of Qurash stopped Muhammad from doing good for others? Same way your bad mouthing will not stop Aga Khan from being good to others. Aga Khan is Allah's blessings on us.

Abu Bakr scolded them and the Prophet uncovered his face and said to Abu Bakr, "Leave them, for these days are the days of 'Id and the days of Mina." 'Aisha further said, "Once the Prophet was screening me and I was watching the display of black slaves in the Mosque and ('Umar) scolded them. The Prophet said, 'Leave them. O Bani Arfida! (carry on), you are safe (protected)'."

One day Prophet Muhammad and his wife Aisha saw a group of Abyssinian Christians performing a modest dance inside a mosque, and watched without objection.

Allaah says in Soorat Luqmaan (interpretation of the meaning):

“And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing) to mislead (men) from the path of Allaah…” [Luqmaan 31:6]

Al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: this aayah was revealed concerning singing and musical instruments (lit. woodwind instruments). (Tafseer Ibn Katheer, 3/451).

Al-Sa’di (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: this includes all manner of haraam speech, all idle talk and falsehood, and all nonsense that encourages kufr and disobedience; the words of those who say things to refute the truth and argue in support of falsehood to defeat the truth; and backbiting, slander, lies, insults and curses; the singing and musical instruments of the Shaytaan; and musical instruments which are of no spiritual or worldly benefit. (Tafseer al-Sa’di, 6/150)

“[Allaah said to Iblees:] And befool them gradually those whom you can among them with your voice (i.e. songs, music, and any other call for Allaah’s disobedience)…” [al-Israa’ 17:64]

Where are you getting your translations from man? It says nothing of the sorts. From my understanding, It's about people misleading others using their speech. An example of this would be a person who goes to two parties and tells them lies or exaggerates the situation such as to make them enemies. Obviously this is my understanding, but no where does it mention music...

That's his interpretation. Go look up the exact Aayah...

Again this has nothing to do with music. Look up literal translation. Don't bring someone's interpretation here.

To promote a better understanding and appreciation of Muslim civilizations, when Aga Khan with the help of Governor Rick Perry introduced Islamic education in Texas. Yes in Texas, the south of the south, the most reliable Republican big state. We got opposition from most of the anti-Islamic institutions. Don't forget the promotion of Islamic Architect at MIT one of the finest universities in America. He asked MIT to introduce Islamic Architect.

Low grade: Did you know that no one Muslim leader in the world, except the Aga Khan has taken on an initiative to get Muslim scholars together and study the Qur'an and try to bring out one translation. This work is being done by the Institute of Islamic studies which is different from the Institute of Ismaili Studies.
