Nabi (SAW) and 6 year old wife

I have come across this frequent posts by non muslims on the social media where they say that Nabi Mohammed (SAW) married Aisha who was just 6 years old at the time of marriage and 9 years old when the marriage was consummated. What is the truth behind this? The non muslims just argue on this point to show Islam in bad light.

One thing we need to remember is that the prophet (saw) did not do or even say anything than that which was commanded by Allah. So if he did marry Hazrat Aisha at the age of 6 years old, then that was the command of Allah. Many scholars have written about the wisdom behind that, but there is no need to go into those if you do not believe that it was a command of Allah.

There are two different narrations. One puts her age somewhere around 16 or 17 years old. However, majority of the narrations put her age at 6 years old. One other thing to remember is that Hazrat Aisha's marriage had already been arranged to someone else. So she was going to marry at the same age to someone else. But Allah had different plans for her.

From her narrations we find that she never felt as if she was abused. In fact she was very much in love with the prophet (saw). Besides, her father was the closest companion of the prophet (saw) and a powerful man. There was no foul play involved in the marriage. It was with everyone willingness and above all, it was sanctioned by the Lord Almighty. Even the enemies of the prophet (saw) have never objected to his marriage. I am talking about the enemies at the time of the prophet (saw) in Mecca. I am not talking about his enemies of today.
